Mastering Microsoft Teams

Before You Start:


1. Make sure you have your school email and password ready.
You'll need these to sign in to Teams.
2. Watch the corresponding section of the Microsoft Teams Video

completing each activity.

Getting Started with Teams:

Download and Install Teams:


o Watch the video section on downloading and installing.
o Visit the Microsoft Teams website or your device's app store.
o Download and install the Teams app on your computer,
smartphone, or tablet.
Sign In to Teams:
o Watch the video section on signing in.
o Open the Teams app.
o Enter your school email address and password.

Explore the Teams Interface:


o Watch the video section on the Teams interface.
o Activity: See your latest notifications and mentions.
o Chat: Send messages to individual classmates or groups.
o Teams: Access your classes or project groups.
o Calendar: View your schedule and join online meetings.
o Calls: Make audio or video calls to classmates or teachers.
o Files: Store and share documents with your team.

Activity
Communicating and Collaborating in Teams: Send a
Chat Message:
o Watch the video section on chat.
o Click on the "Chat" icon.
o Select a classmate's name or create a group chat.
o Type your message and press Enter.

Activity
Join a Video or Audio Call:
o Watch the video section on calls and meetings.
o Create a meeting in outlook calendar with a friend in this class
and send the invite.
o When they respond, make the call from your calendar “Join
Teams Meeting”
o or
o Click a "Meet Now" link shared by your friend
Create or Edit a Document: Not for this Class-this is one
of the functions when you use Teams.
o Watch the video section on files.
o Go to your team's "Files" tab.
o Click "New" and select the type of document you want (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint).
o Edit and save your document in Teams.

Share a File:
o Watch the video section on sharing files.
o Go to the "Files" tab in your team.
o Select the file you want to share.
o Click the "Share" button and choose who you want to share it
with.

Additional Tips:
Customize Your Notifications: Go to "Settings" and choose how you
want to be notified about new messages or activity.

Pin Important Chats and Channels: Right-click on a chat or channel


and select "Pin" to keep it easily accessible.
