LESSON 1:
Viết và ghi âm câu trả lời hoàn chỉnh cho các câu hỏi sau
1. Have you ever studied geography at school?
2. Do you like geography?
3. Are you good at reading a map?
4. Would you visit a country because of its geographical location?

1. Yes, of course. It’s one of the compulsory subjects in my secondary school. Learning
about different countries, their cultures, and how our world works was kind of
interesting. Besides, I was impressed by the statement: “ Learning geography to find out
love castle”. But it’s just for fun. Plus, it helped me understand how interconnected our
world really is. So it’s a subject that’s worth diving into.
2. To be honest, I am not keen on geography. It is a bit hard to remember all things that I
have ever studied. Not gonna lie, I can see the advantages of learning geography such as
broadening my mind about different countries, the Earth’s function or natural
phenomena and helping me in the future. But it’s not my cup of tea. Yeah, so, I’ll spend
a little time to learn geography when I have free time.
3. Well, I wouldn't say I'm a map expert, but I can usually figure my way around one.
Sometimes, I find it difficult to understand the map, but I get there eventually. And with
Google Map on my phone, I don’t need to become a person reading maps efficiently.
But it's a handy skill to have, especially when you're out in the wild without a signal.
4. Absolutely, I'd love to travel around the world . Discovering new landscapes, cultures,
and natural wonders is something I'm very keen on. Plus, it's a chance to broaden my
horizons and gain a deeper understanding of our diverse planet, you know.

1. Do you like science?
2. When did you start to learn about science?
3. Which science subject is most interesting to you?
4. What kinds of interesting things have you done with science?
5. What did you learn in science class?
6. Do you want to know more about science?
7. Do you watch science TV programs?

1. Absolutely! I’m a curious person, so this has directed me to the love of science. I find it
fascinating how science helps us understand the natural world, and solve problems. I enjoy
keeping up-to-date with new scientific developments and discoveries.
2. Hmm, I'm not exactly sure when I first started learning about science, but I think it was
probably when I was in primary school. I remember being taught how to keep the environment
clean, some simple natural phenomena and sth like this. As I got older, I started getting into
biology, chemistry, and physics, and I started to appreciate how complex and beautiful the
natural world is.
4. Well, I've done so many cool things with science over the years! One thing that stands out is
an experiment I did in biology class where we conducted to observe the leaf’s chlorophyll
cells under a microscope. It was the first time when I used the microscope. I could see many
things that couldn’t be seen with ordinary eyes. It was a really interesting experience in my
life!

Describe a time when you received something without having

to pay for it
You should say:
 What the gift was
 When you got this gift
 Where you had it
And explain how you felt about it

It was my 14th Tet holiday. My family decorated my house beautifully and had some warm
meals together. My relatives visited my home and gave wishes to each other. It was actually a
great time when family members could have an opportunity to gather. And I was given much
lucky money.
The lucky money was put into a red or yellow envelope as a symbol of luck and wish for a
new age, for children or the elders. Inside the lucky money, there was money or some best
wishes that my relatives gave to me. No matter how much money I received, I appreciated
their kindness and showed respect to them. I think lucky money is just a symbol of the luck,
not a way to earn money.
I was completely happy with my meaningful gift. Not gonna lie, this gift not only didn’t
require money but it also brought a lot of luck and happiness to the receivers. And after the
meals, my family had a lovely time to talk about their work or their study in whole year. It was
one of the greatest time to me.

Describe an apartment or a house that you would like to live

in
You should say:
 What it would look like
 How big it would be
 Where it would be located
And explain how you feel about this apartment or house
A house is like a sanctuary for any of us so owning a house designed in our own way is a
dream to many people. To me, I always visualize living in a villa on the outskirts of Hanoi.

I really take to the idea of a two-storey villa because it would fit my small cozy family. Just
as people usually expect, my villa must have a beautiful garden around and inside the house
should be equipped with cutting-edge technologies. Admittedly, I am a not-so-hardworking
person so the idea of automation always appeals to me.

As a villa on the suburbs of Hanoi, I can dive into the nature with fresh air and vast greenery.
Having a house on my own also satisfies my freedom craze, allowing me to do whatever and
whenever I want without being disturbed by anyone.

I myself know that to have such a house means to have such a lot of money because the
construction and the equipments cost an arm and a leg. This makes the time issue really
unpredictable and as I am still a high school student, now I can’t say with certainty when I
can live in that dream house.

Still, dream is just a dream but this dream villa gives me motivation to try my best to achieve
the goal.

LESSON 2:
Part 1: Old buildings

Viết và ghi âm câu trả lời hoàn chỉnh cho các câu hỏi sau
1. Have you ever seen some really old buildings in a city?
2. Do you think we should preserve old buildings in cities?
3. Do you prefer living in an old building or a modern house?
4. Are there any old buildings you want to see in the future? Why?

1. To be honest, I have never seen any old buildings. Although I’m living in Hanoi, I haven’t had
any opportunities to visit one of them in Hanoi. But I have heard about some old buildings in
Hanoi city, for example, Hanoi Opera House. In spite of its old appearance, the inside of the
building is very majestic. I think relaxing and watching the opera performances is very
fascinating.
2. I think it also depends on their value. Some old buildings can reflect not only the history but
also the culture in the past. So it’s necessary to preserve their historical and cultural value. But
some others have no value, so it’s useful to replace them with more modern buildings to
improve the quality of the cities.
3. I think it depends on the specific building and its location. In general, I prefer modern
buildings because they are more comfortable, convenient, and eco-friendly. However, if I have
a chance to live in an old building with a unique character, good maintenance, and a great
location, I would consider it. I think living in an old building can be a unique and enjoyable
experience.
4. Of course, it is the Temple of Literature in Hanoi. It was built in the 11th century and was
Vietnam's first university, where scholars and students would come to
study Confucianism and literature. The temple has a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere, with
well-preserved architecture and lovely gardens. It's a great place to learn about Vietnam's
cultural and educational history.

1. Do you feel nervous when you travel to new places?
2. Can you read a map when you travel to new places?
3. Have you ever helped someone who got lost?

1.I think it depends on new place’s location and the travel’s intention. I often go somewhere
new on my holiday, it’s my dream. So I was very hopeful and excited, hardly anxious. But a
few times I didn’t know where to go or what to do. Fortunately, I always got some help from
the locals who gave me detailed directions to the place I wanted.
2.Well, I wouldn't say I'm a map expert, but I can usually figure my way around one.
Sometimes, I find it difficult to understand the map, but I get there eventually. And with
Google Map on my phone, I don’t need to become a person reading maps efficiently. But
it's a handy skill to have, especially when you're out in the wild without a signal.
3.Yeah, sure. About 3 months ago there was a middle-aged lady who did not know how to get to
the market and she asked me for help. I guess older generations are not familiar with the use
of technology in general, therefore, not being able to use e-maps
is unsurprising among senior citizens. After my instruction, she remained a bit confused so
I decided to take her there, eventually.
Part 2: New places
Describe a place in the countryside that you visited
You should say:
 Where it is
 When you visited this place
 What you did there
And explain how you feel about this place

Vietnam, my homeland, is a country with abundant natural beauty, from beaches to forests
and from waterfalls to vast and green paddy fields. But, in my humble opinion, the
countryside of my country is even more beautiful, and today, I would like to talk about the
farm which I visited a couple of years ago.
If my memory serves me right, our trip began at around 6 am in the morning, and after taking
the bus for about 2 hours, we finally arrived at our destination. Located on the outskirts of
Hanoi, this place is famous for its beautiful scenery and its tranquility. Needless to say, we
were all taken aback by the beauty of the landscape around us as the scenery is made up of
many different colours, and it looks like a colourful picture. The paddy fields were divided
into broad rectangular shapes, making them look like some beautifully decorated “green
chamber”. The flapping sounds of the birds there invited us to watch them fly under the blue
and beautiful sky. The presence of a green meadow on one side of the vast paddy fields and
the beautiful lake makes it look like a little piece of heaven on earth. The serene and quiet
nature of this beautiful countryside was so enjoyable that we didn’t really want to return to our
home in the city. Besides, walking around the farm, immersing into nature and filling my
lungs with fresh air was really a fascinating experience.
Anyway, I would surely go back to that place in the future because this is where I could find
my peace and chill out. Besides, I would go back to that beautiful countryside also because it
would remind me of how we could live a very simple life and yet become very happy.
That’s all I want to say.

Describe a famous city that you think is interesting

You should say:
 Where it is?
 What the city is famous for?
 Why it is interesting?
And explain how you feel about it
Today I’m going to talk about one of the most interesting cities in my country, Hanoi. It is the
capital of Vietnam.
Hanoi is located in the North of Vietnam. It is the centre of Vietnamese culture and politics.
Besides, there are many places of interest in Hanoi that attract not only native people but also
foreign visitors around the world. The city always swarms with people and buzzes with
activities. It is also an ideal city for those who love the hustle and bustle of a city and want to
lead a modern style, I mean, there are top-notch facilities and modern infrastructure there. One
thing I don’t like about this city is the incessant roar of vehicles and the traffic congestion all
day. But in fact it’s great for someone who enjoys crowded places. Also, people here are
friendly, political, and hospitable as they always willing to help others.
Hanoi is my favourite place because it has almost everything I want, from the facilities to
hospitable citizens. I think in the future I will settle down in Hanoi and have a stable job, but
it’s also a matter of time because I’m just a high school student. But I will try my best to
achieve my dream.
That’s all I want to say
Part 3:
1. Is there anything special about the countryside in Vietnam?
2. What do people usually do when going to the countryside?
3. Do you think people will live in the countryside in the future?

1. I would say that there are something special about the countryside in Vietnam. It is much
less crowded in the countryside than in cities. Besides, the pace of life in the countryside is
slow, we can avoid the hustle and bustle of the city and the incessant roar of vehicles every
day. Also, it is much healthier to live in rural area as we can walk around and immerse
ourselves into scenic beauty and the fresh air. And I think living in the countryside is
suitable for one who don’t like a hectic life.
2. In my opinion, people might go around to see the beautiful scenery and savour the
tranquility of the countryside, or they simply take a stroll with their pets to fill their lungs
with fresh air and refresh their minds. Of course, going to the countryside is fascinating
time, especially for one who want to relax and stay away from the rapid pace of city life.
3. I think it depends on the demand of each person. There will be people who are interested in
living in rural areas. I think the first kind is somebody who doesn’t wanna live in a fast-
paced environment in big cities anymore. They don’t wanna put themselves under great
pressure. So, they usually retire from their jobs, or in other words, the elderly. Another kind
is somebody who is a nature lover. They love getting closer to nature and enjoying the fresh
air there. Besides, the countryside is also a great place for children as they need large spaces
to play.

Parks/Gardens DONE

1. Is there a park near your house?

To be honest, i’m living on the outskirts of Hanoi so it’s rare to have a park which is within walking distance.
But there is also a park which is about 15-minute walkdistance from my home.

2. Do you often go to the park?

As you know, my house is in the remote area and it takes at least 15 minutes to drive from my house to the
nearest park. So it’s a bit hard for me to go to the park very often. In fact, I head to go the park every two
months. But it almost depends on my schedule.

3. Are public gardens important in your city?

Crowded places DONE

1. What kinds of places are crowded in your city?

If you ask me about this, I’ll say that the most crowded place in my area is the market without having to think
twice. Every morning when I go to school, I have to pass the market. The most negative impressive thing to
me is the market’s noise. There are too many people there go the market and it’s actually hecticthe noise is
very loud. I think this must be changed as soon as possible, so that residents near the market can
concentrate on their works without being disturbed by the noise.
2. Do you like crowded places?
I’m Not gonna lie, I’m not interested in crowded places. I know crowded places areis somewhere having a lot
of people and noise and we can communicate with many people to enhance our knowledge. But it’s not my
thing. I’m a reserved quiet person so I prefer the tranquility.
3. When was the last time you were in a crowded place?

Meeting places OK
1. Where is your favorite place to meet with your friends?
Well, I think it’s somewhere we can communicate comfortably without being disturbed. For example, a cafe is
a suitable place to us. There is also many beautiful places of interest site for us to selfie and then post photos
on social networksnetwork.

2. What kinds of places do you think are most suitable for meeting with others?

3. Are there any differences between your favorite meeting places in the present and in your childhood?

4. Why are some meeting places better than others?

LESSON 3:
Part 1: Taking photos
1. Do you like taking photos?
2. How do you take your photos?
3. Do you want to improve your photography skills?

1. Yes, of course. Photos can remind me of good memories. Photos capture beautiful sceneries
and special moments I have with people I love. Besides, I can post nice photos on social
media like facebook, instagram, or tiktok to share with my online friends.
2. To be honest, it depends on my feelings. For example, when I have too many deadlines, I
can’t have time to see beautiful sceneries, so I can’t take photos of them. However, when I
have free time, especially in the summer, I would say that I take photos very often, even
everyday. I’m actually keen on taking photos of clouds in the sky at different times in a day.
When I’m bored, I often look at these photos again and feel relaxed and comfortable.
3. I have a thing for photography so of course I really want to improve my photography skills.
I think in the future I may buy a camera to take photos instead of a smart phone. Maybe, I’ll
take a photography course to improve my skills. I hope that my photography skills will be
improved noticeably after this course.

Part 1: Weekend
1. What do people in your hometown usually do on weekends?
2. What will you do next weekend?
3. Did you do anything special last weekend?
4. What do you usually do on weekends?
1. I suppose that each person will have their own way of optimizing their weekends based on
their personal interests. Some will hang out with their friends, travel to some sort of
amusement such as shops and restaurants, or throw parties as a way to relieve their tension.
Others, who are introverts like me, will have more interest in staying at home, binge-
watching their favorite movies, playing games, and some things like that,…
2. Now, it’s summer so I have more time to do my hobby. Next weekend, I think I’ll get up
early and walk along the street for about 15 minutes, then I’ll study English, and finally I’ll
watch my favourite films. It’s fascinating to have such a simple but effective weekend.
3. Not that I recall. The IELTS test is extremely important to me so I devoted all of my leisure
time, including recent weekends, to having the best preparation for it. I hope that I can
successfully achieve my target band score so that I can do something more entertaining in
the future.
4. To be honest, I often have a busman’s holiday. I have to go to the extra class at weekends
so it’s a bit hard for me to chill out. But sometimes I leave work aside, indulge myself by
watching films, playing games, surfing the Internet or just having a lie-in to let off steam
after a busy week.

Part 2:

Describe a time when you moved to a new home or school

You should say:
 When you moved
 Where you moved
 Why you moved
And how you felt about it

When growing up as a child, all of us needed to move to new schools. As for me, I have
moved to new schools several times. Now I’m going to talk about a time when I moved to a
new school.
It happened about 5 years ago when I was 11 years old and had finished my 5th grade. I left my
primary school and moved to my new secondary school.
Initially, I wasn’t really sure whether to like the new school or not. When I first arrived at my
new school I was immediately impressed by the scenic beauty and the teachers’ friendliness.
On the first day of the school ceremony, we were welcomed by all teachers and upper-class
students. We were the center of attention as we were the first-year students. But this made me
a bit confused and lonely.
Afterwards, we start our first lessons. When I started my classes, I found that my fellow
classmates were rather nice and helpful. In fact, the class captain ordered all of us to introduce
ourselves to each other. This particular good gesture actually helped me get over the initial
confusion of starting my new secondary school.
Slowly after that, I started to love my new school and its environment. I could make a lot of
new friends just after a studying week.
Frankly speaking, moving to this new secondary school was a great experience despite my
confusion at first. I kept telling myself to be patient and then I came to love this school. I also
realized that in life, things don’t always turn out to be the way we expect and that we should
always remain positive in life if we really want to improvise and succeed in life.
Part 3:
1. Why do people move to a new home?
2. What problems will people face after moving to a new place?
3. How do people solve these problems?
4. Is it good to move to a new place frequently? Why?

1.There are several reasons why people move to a new home. Some people move for jobs,
education, or just to rediscover themselves. For example, university students leave home to
facilitate their studies, workers move for a dream job in another city or somebody simply
wants to travel around to explore - both the world and themselves. Also, individuals tend to
relocate when they think their living environment doesn’t suit them anymore - for instance
those who are retired and avoid the hustle and bustle of a busy city for the rest of their lives.
Maybe, the reasons depend on each person.
2.I think they won’t be familiar with a new environment. They move to a new place with a
different culture, they might face a culture shock. Also, they don’t know anyone around
them, and they will feel lonely, even homesick. They leave their old home behind after all,
and that includes their houses, their relationships, and many memorable memories. Of
course, I believe that people can gradually get used to the new places
3.To be honest, I don’t think there is a definite way to solve these kinds of problems, people
would just have to slowly get used to it. But there are some effective ways to speed up this
process. For example, individuals can search information about culture, customs of new
places they intend to settle down before arriving here. Or they can communicate with local
people here to understand the culture and the language more clearly and more rapidly.
4.I don’t think so. Firstly, moving to a new place is a big deal, it involves a lot of expenses. I
can only imagine how costly it would be for people who often relocate. Secondly, moving
means you have to reintroduce yourself to the new community (at your new place) and start
the process of familiarizing yourself with new cultures and connecting with people all over
again, while leaving your old friends and kind neighbors behind. It’s actually a painful
process.

LESSON 4:
Part 1: Housework and Cooking
1. Do you do some cooking/help your family cook at home now?
2. Did you do some house cleaning when you were young?
3. Do you have breakfast at home every day?
4. Do you want to learn how to cook well?

1.Yes, but not too often. In fact, I have to study hard for my IELTS test. It is extremely
important to me so I devote all of my leisure time to have the best preparation for it. So, I
don’t have much time to help my family with cooking. My mother often does it, but I also do
sth to help her cook such as preparing ingredients… I hope I can successfully pass the IELTS
exam and achieve my target band score to have more free time to do whatever I enjoy or to
help my mom cook in the future.
2.Yes, of course. When I was a child, my parents taught me how to do some housework such as
sweeping and cleaning the floor. At first, I considered them as herculean tasks. But my mind
told me: “you must try your best to help your parents because they have worked hard all day
to earn money to bring up you”. So I was used to doing these tasks eventually. I realized that
they not only made my house clean but also greatly helped my health.
3.Definitely! It is said that “the best way to live is to breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince
and dine like a pauper”. You know, it provides you with the energy and necessary
nutrition needed to get you through to lunchtime and boost your efficiency throughout the
day. So I consider it as an indispensable part of one day.
4.Certainly, since cooking is considered a survival skill everyone should have. For example,
when I graduate a high school and move to a university, I must live alone. Of course, I have
to know how to cook to survive. Furthermore, knowing how to cook will be very useful
when I’ll have a family in the future. So I think I’ll spend a little time to improve my cooking
skills.

Part 1: Dreams
1. Do you often remember your dreams?
2. Do you want to make your dreams come true?
3. Do you share your dreams with others? Or are you interested in others’ dreams?
4. Do you think dreams have special meanings?

1. As far as I’m concerned, some research has shown that you tend to forget most of the
dreams you had, so it’s pretty challenging for me to remember them. But sometimes I
can remember fractions of the dreams. For example, sometimes I do remember some
faces in the dream, but forget what happened.
2. To be honest, I don’t really think much about it. Some dreams are horrible nightmares,
of course, I don’t want them to come true. But there are also sweet dreams. I’m an
ambitious person, so I have some specific aspirations in my life. Yeah, I really want my
sweet dreams to come true. But I know that I must make an effort to realize my dreams,
not just go to sleep and dream…
3. To be honest, I don’t do that very often, partly because I often forget most of my
dreams. In addition, I’m quite an introvert so I have a tendency to keep things to myself,
including the dreams that I had. I consider them to be a part of my private life. I only
tell others about my dreams once in a blue moon if they involve those people.
4. Absolutely! I believe dreams can reflect our state of mind at the moment. When we feel
stressed or anxious, the dreams can be quite nightmarish, so they serve as a warning for
us to take care of our mental health. On the other hand, it’s pretty usual to dream about
our crush as they are the person that we think of the most during the day.
Part 2: Describe a time when you got up early
You should say:
 When it was
 What you did
 Why you got up early
 And how you felt about it

About a week ago when it turned into summer, I decided to wake up at dawn to walk around
my village since I had a day off.

To be honest, I’m a night owl, so waking up early in the morning was pretty challenging for
me. My alarm rang at 4 a.m., and I could only get out of bed after sleeping in for 10 minutes.

After nearly 30 minutes of preparing, I hit the road at about 4.40 a.m. I slowly walked around
my village as a way of doing exercises. I could both fill my lungs with fresh air and do
wonders for my health. For example, it helped me strengthen my bonds, keep fit and relieve
stress effectively. Besides, I could see the sunset in my hometown. It’s such a fascinating
scenery that someone loving nature like me couldn’t miss. Then, I stopped at the river bank,
sat on the stone bench, and let my hair down with a book.

After that, I went back home and had pho for breakfast, and being on a full stomach made me
feel better. I felt full of energy to start a hard-working day of studying for my IELTS exam.
But at noon, I fell a bit tired and asleep because I didn’t get enough sleep the night before, so
I took a nap to recharge my energy.

Anyway, this was a wonderful day because waking up at the crack of dawn gave me a unique
chance to see a different village - it was silent during the wee hours. Due to its advantages, I
think I will change my timetable to become an early bird.

Part 3:
1. Do you know anyone who likes to get up early?
2. Why do people get up early?
3. What kinds of occasions need people to arrive early?
4. Why do some people like to stay up late?
1. From my perspective, most mature people tend to be up in the lark for different reasons.
For example, they might get out of bed early to have more time to exercise: this is just the
ticket to kick-start a hectic day. Another reason is that they want to be well-prepared before
showing up at work. They can have time to choose and wear their favorite perfumes or outfits
without hurrying.
2. Because being an early bird would bring many advantages. The first one is that people will
have more time for themselves. More specifically, instead of being in a hurry or skipping
breakfast to spend time on other things, people can eat a slice of bread while sipping a cup of
coffee leisurely. Besides, individuals will have more time to finish their work with a clear
mind. Plus, they can go to work early to give traffic jams a wide berth.
3. As we all know, punctuality displays a person’s respect for people and their time, so under
no circumstances should anyone show up late. For formal ceremonies such as a wedding or a
funeral, which require a large amount of organization and planning, it is even important for
everybody to arrive earlier than expected. The late-comers usually give an impression that
they do not value the others’ time or consider their time more important than that of others.
Furthermore, people who are going on a trip may also have to arrive at the airport or train
station prior to their departure time. This allows them to have more time for the check-in
process, creating a stress-free travel experience.

4. From my point of view, a lot of people today, especially the young, often get involved in
exciting activities that happen at night, like parties and concerts. When all of the daytime work
is done, this is the time when they can hang out and enjoy themselves, you know, because we
only live once and we wouldn’t want to miss every single moment of joy and happiness.
Others are simply night owls. Maybe they are tired during the day and can only get down to
work in the middle of the night. The quiet atmosphere makes them more concentrated on their
work and not be disturbed by anyone else. This explains why these people possess a different
time zone from normal people.

LESSON 5:
Part 1: Headphones and Microphones
1. Do you use headphones?
2. What type of headphones do you use?
3. When would you use headphones?
4. In what conditions would you not use headphones?

1. Absolutely! Unlike speakers, headphones not only provide a high-quality sound but
also cancel unwanted noise from the surroundings and any distractions. What's more
important is that I can listen to audio files as loud as I want, without disturbing anyone
around me.
2. Well, I do prefer wireless earbuds. They are so compact and versatile that I just need to
put my earbuds in and enjoy the freedom of moving around in a completely free
manner, especially when doing some exercises. Moreover, wireless earbuds are
usually designed for maximum comfort, secure fit and longer-lasting battery lives. I
also don't have to worry about the wire entangling.
3. Hmm, I often use headphones when studying. You know, it’s a good idea to use
headphones to listen to the IELTS audio files. The noise cancellation feature of
headphones gives me the ability to have a greater focus span and finish the IELTS
listening exam more easily. Besides, I can also both go jogging and listen to my
favourite songs, which make me feel relaxed. In general, headphones are indispensable
objects in my daily life.
4. I would never use headphones when travelling because I may jeopardise myself and the
lives of others. Another situation when headphones should not be used is during
conversations with other people because it can be considered rude. So I think
headphones are only useful if we know how to use them effectively.

Part 1: Website.
1. What kinds of websites do you usually use?/ Why do you like them?
2. What has changed about websites, compared to the past?

1. I would say that I do often use the Cambridge Dictionary. You know, I’m studying hard
for my IELTS exam, so definitely a good dictionary is a crucial item for me to enhance
my academic vocabulary. The Cambridge Dictionary provides me with accurate
pronunciation, grammar and examples of the words I look up. This would ensure I will
study the correct words.
2. I’m not sure, but according to what I see, there’s a huge difference in the layout of the
webpage between the past and the present. It’s much more colorful, with clear fonts and
pictures. Descriptions are shorter than before, making it easier to understand the
mentioned information.

Part 2: Describe an invention that has changed the world in a

positive way
You should say:
 What it is
 What benefits it has brought
 How it influences people of different ages
And explain how it changed people's lives
Those past decades have appeared a wide range of great inventions. Personally speaking, I
suppose that social media has been one of the most significant creations.
I would say social media has brought about enormous advantages to different aspects in our
lives. First, social media could be considered as a means of communication. As far as I know,
centuries ago people kept in touch via verbal conversations, and only by sending letters could
they exchange information over a long distance. However, since the appearance of social
media, people can interact with each other without distance problem, I mean, people can share
opinions, photos, and memorable moments with their online friends easily. What is more, by
using social media, we can update ourselves with the latest news in the world without going
out. Also, this invention is also a way of entertainment because individuals can watch videos
or read their favorite stories on social media in their leisure time. Thanks to social media, our
daily life is more interesting and meaningful, which helps us love our lives more.
To sum up, I would say that social media has really made a great difference in the way we
live. But I think beneficial or harmful social media depends on the use of each person. We
should know how to use social media effectively so that we can optimize its value.

Viết và ghi âm câu trả lời hoàn chỉnh cho các câu hỏi sau
1. What is the most helpful innovation at home?
2. What household appliances make us lazy?
3. What kind of invention can be used at school?
4. Do you think AI will replace human teachers? Why?

1.To me, the most handy household invention is the fridge. When it comes to food storage, this
kind of innovation appears to be of great importance. The fridge not only stores a large
amount of meals and ingredients but it also keeps them fresh for up to a whole week.
Therefore, people could enjoy hygienic suppers without going to the market regularly.
2.I’m not sure because I have never experienced many modern technologies. But I think it may
be the cleaning robot. Thanks to this invention, people don’t have to spend much time
sweeping and cleaning the floor and have more time to relax. They just need to charge the
robot and install commands to make the robots work automatically. As a result, individuals
may completely depend on the cleaning robot, making themselves lazier.
3.Owning to my observation, there is a wide range of school appliances, which aid studying
and multimedia purposes. However, the most common invention might be the projector.
With this device, films and pictures can be multiplied in size, but not damage their quality.
Therefore it allows all students in class to comprehensively catch up with the lesson.
4.I don’t think so. It is obvious that artificial intelligence has highly promising potential in many
different aspects, yet this advancement is not suitable enough to be replaced with human
teachers. As far as I know, education requires a large amount of direct interactions, and tutors
might be able to flexibly modify their lessons based on each student’s learning capabilities.
Besides, human teachers can directly observe the student’s learning and make standard rules
for students to follow, therefore making them aware of their studies.

Part 1: Evening time

1. Do you prefer the morning or the evening?
2. What do you usually do in the evening?
3. What did you do in the evening when you were young? Why?
4. Are there any differences between what you do in the evening now and what you did in
the past?

1. I think I’ll choose the evening as my favourite time. In the evening, you know, I have a
quieter space to concentrate on my work without being disturbed. There is a fun fact that in
the morning I’m always feeling sleepy and tired, while in the evening I’m full of energy and
ready to deal with all my deadlines. Kkk
2. I usually go home after my evening extra classes and do my assignments. After that, I may
do some hobbies such as surfing the internet or listening to music. These activities help me
wind down from the pressure of studying and allow me to recharge my energy for the next
day. However, if I’m exhausted when I have finished my homework, I’ll probably go to sleep
immediately.
3. When I was still a child, most of my evenings revolved around homework, but again, after all
the hard work, I was rewarded with an episode of my favorite cartoons, which made me feel
interested and relaxed.
4. In the past, I had more leisure time to do my hobbies and relax, for example watching cartoon,
playing with my toys… But now, I have a hectic life. I have to cram deadlines and projects into
my evening schedule, along with all the extra classes and club meetings that I have already
have. So I sometimes I even don’t have time for my hobbies and my recharging energy after a
hard working day.
Part 1: Time management
1. How do you plan your time in a day?
2. Do you find it easy to manage your time?
3. When do you find it hard to allocate time?
4. Do you like being busy?

1. I don’t think my time management method is anything out of this world. I usually spend a
good 15 minutes every evening, typically right before bed, listing out the tasks I must
perform the next day. This is a habit which I have picked up currently, and I think it’s a
simple yet wonderful practice because it really gives me peace of mind and a sense of
control, which also increases my sleep quality.
2. I don’t think so. I have a hectic life so it’s hard to make a detailed plan about what I’ll do
in a day. Besides, my daily schedule changes unpredictably each day. However, I’m trying
to work on my time management skill by implementing various techniques such as time
blocking and writing to-do lists, which really help me to preserve sanity and decrease
stress in both my work and personal lives.
3. Probably whenever I’m drowning in stress. I tend to fall into downward spirals when I
have too many tasks at hand with only a short amount of time. During these times,
planning in general and time management in particular are nothing but nuisances for me.
Of course I still have to do them, but the feelings of pleasure and satisfaction are definitely
not there.
nuisance (n) mối gây khó chịu, phiền toái
4. I’d rather be productive and efficient not hectic and burnt out. Even though I want to give
the best performance at work, I also want to prioritize things outside of work that are
important to my overall well-being — like refueling with a healthy lunch, reenergizing
with a 30-minute jog or cycling, or simply spending just a little time in the evening
listening to my favourite songs.

 Burnt out (adj) kiệt sức

 Well-being (n) sức khỏe

Part 2: Describe a creative person (an artist/musician/...) whose work you admire
You should say:
 Who he/she is
 How you knew him/her
 What creative things he/she has done
And explain why you think he/she is creative

My maternal aunt’s artistic abilities have always piqued my interest. She’s a multi-talented
and creative artist who excels in practically every field, including cooking, painting, baking,
pottery, sculpture, and upcycling clothing. To be honest, she has carved out a niche for
herself.

My aunt has received many laurels from her childhood for her artistic skills. She has created
many worthwhile products using waste products, made different paintings, sketches, portraits,
and many more. She also handles social media accounts and runs a YouTube channel where
she posts and uploads all the tutorials of her cooking, baking, sculpting, 3D drawings, and
paintings.

In the booming world of the internet, where it is easy to create a business, I suggested she sell
online. Her business gained massive popularity and grew tremendously, to everyone’s
surprise. My aunt achieved significant success through her online business. Recently, she
gifted me a beautiful gown with 3D floral embellishments on my birthday. I was highly
delighted when I got to know that the gown was upcycled using my mother’s dress. It’s the
first time I had seen such a beautiful and creative gown. I love this present so much. And the
prominent reason why I adore and admire my aunt’s artistic skills is her passion and devotion
to putting any product into use, which is something I want to learn from her. That’s all I want
to say.

Part 3:
1. Is it good for children to learn art?
2. What kinds of jobs need creative ability?
3. How do children become smart at school?
4. Why are some people well-rounded and others only good at one thing?
5. Why does modern society need talents of all kinds?
1. Parents should put their children in art classes for several reasons. First, music and
art stimulate the part of the brain associated with academic performance, which means better
results in basic math and reading skills. Additionally, activities like playing musical
instruments or holding a paintbrush helps improve their motor skills, benefiting their ability to
write and take up sports. So instead of seeing art as an extracurricular activity, we should think
of it as part of the kids’ education.

 stimulate: kích thích, thúc đẩy

 hold a paintbrush: cầm cọ vẽ
 extracurricular activity: hoạt động ngoại khóa

2.
To be honest, you know, I’m just a student now so I’m not sure what type of work each
job entails, but what immediately popped up in my head are the professions related to content
creating, since the people working in this field have to consistently come up with new
materials and ideas on a daily basis. Take Hoa Lo Prison Relic in Vietnam as an example. It
used to be a prison back in the 80s and 90s but has turned into a tourist attraction
nowadays. The relic remained unpopular among the youth in Vietnam, but its new marketing
teams have been able to bring in thousands of young visitors every month thanks to the
authentic comedic content they upload on social media, all of which are highly relatable to the
young generation. This type of innovation has really raised the bar for other touristy spots in
Vietnam.

 entail: đòi hỏi, yêu cầu

 the relic: khu di tích
 relatable: phù hợp
 touristy spots: các điểm du lịch

3. I think that having less rote learning that relies heavily on memorisation is a good start.
Children should be taught to reason and think logically. And don’t get wrong, I don’t mean
schools should start teaching children how to solve complicated math problems. On the
contrary, schools should let children play games that stimulate their minds like solving
puzzles and role playing to solve hypothetical problems.

 Rote learning: cách học đọc-chép

 To rely on (phrasal verb): phụ thuộc
 To reason (v): lí luận
 Equation (n): phương trình toán học
 To stimulate (v): kích thích
 Hypothetical (adj): giả sử
4. Off the top of my head, I can only say that it’s due to their jobs. In my opinion, people who
work in managerial roles tend to be generalists. They know about many things from social
skills, communication to management. They have to be like that because their jobs require
them to deal with other people. In contrast, technical workers tend to be proficient only in
their area of expertise. As they get better in their field, they get paid better.

 Off the top of my head (collocation): ý nói tôi không chắc chắn lắm
 Managerial (adj): có tính chất quản lí
 Generalist (n): người làm được nhiều thứ
 To deal with (phrasal verb): làm việc với, xử lí với
 Expertise (n): chuyên môn
 Proficient (adj): thành thạo

5. I think that different jobs need different skill sets. No single person is good at every aspect, no
single person can build skyscrapers; it’s a collaborative effort. To have a harmonious society,
there has to be a mix of people with different talents so that they can work together for the
benefit of the whole society. If everyone was good at science and became doctors, then no one
would become an author or a teacher or a business person. It is much better to have a multi
talented society so that everyone can contribute something different.

LESSON 7:
Part 1: Mobile/ Cell phones
1. Do you have a mobile phone?
2. What do you often use it for?
3. How often do you change your mobile phone?

1. Yes, of course. It is a hand-me-down from my father. My father kept it very carefully, so the
phone could maintain its good functionalities. I’m very excited to have my own mobile device
and feel a sense of independence.
2. I use my cell phone on a daily basis in order to keep in touch with my family and friends.
Besides, I use the phone as a means of entertainment because I can watch videos, listen to
music, and surf social media whenever and wherever I want. Of course, my primary purpose
in using a phone is to study. I use an online dictionary, and useful webs to search for
information to broaden my mind and have better results at school.
3. I think that it depends on how careful I keep my phone. Although I’m actually a technophile,
you know, now I’m just a student, so having enough money to change my mobile phone
frequently is impossible. But in the future, if I have a well-earned job, I think I’ll change my
phone at least every two years.
Part 1: Email
1. Do you think sending emails will be more or less popular in the future?
2. How often do you write an email or a letter?
3. What kinds of email (or letter) have you received that made you feel happy?

1. Honestly, I think its universality will gradually decrease over the course of time. I think
people are prioritizing speed and instance more, which leads to the rise of other quicker and
more convenient media such as social networking apps or messaging platforms designed
for workplace communication like Slack or Teams.

 universality: tính phổ biến

 messaging platforms: nền tảng nhắn tin
 workplace communication: giao tiếp nơi làm việc
2. Well, it’s quite rare. If I want to exchange information with someone else, I often send
messages through Zalo or Messenger. Occasionally I have to compose emails to my friends or
my teachers if I want to send important imformation because I think that email has high
security.

 communication medium: phương tiện giao tiếp

 work-related emails: email liên quan đến công việc
 compose: soạn, biên soạn
3. Three months ago I received an email from Zim Academy. The email informed me that my
IELTS placement test reached band 5.5. I was over the moon and proud of myself. This
good result was the consequence of many industrious days of self-study.

Part 2: Describe something you think would be interesting to learn more about
You should say:
 What it is
 How you would learn it more
 Where you can learn it more
And explain why you want to keep learning it

I'm always very interested in learning to play musical instruments. And there is one instrument
that I have always wanted to master, and that is the guitar.

I have always dreamed of becoming a guitar player ever since I was in secondary school. This
is because once I accidentally watched a video about one artist playing acoustic songs with a
guitar. I was fascinated by the sound and melody of guitars. However, I didn’t have the chance
to learn to play the guitar because the guitar is a bit expensive. But several years later, my
parents were able to buy me a guitar and now I have learned how to play the guitar through the
internet.

It was not as easy as it first seemed. I mean, playing an instrument doesn't require you to be
very physically strong, right? But, you need skillful hands, being able to move very quickly
and precisely. I found it quite difficult to constantly change the position of my fingers and I
had to spend a lot of time practicing. Although I can play a number of songs at the moment, I
still consider myself a novice guitar player. Surely, I will continue to practice until I can play
it skillfully.

I think being able to play the guitar is one of the most wonderful things that I have ever
learned. It helps you to relax, make friends, and serves me as a special skill to be proud of.

Part 3:
1. Do children learn much faster than adults?
2. Why should we learn something we are interested in?
3. What are the differences between hard work and smart work?

1.Well, yes. Everything is possible during children’s formative years. Take languages as an
example. Children can be bilingual or even multilingual at a very young age without having
to spend hours learning vocabulary and grammar structures. I guess this is because the brain
structures are different between children and adults, which helps them obtain knowledge
better.
2.Because that’s how we stay the course. It’s very difficult to always stay motivated in
something that you don’t have a passion for. Meanwhile, if you are learning something that
you are interested in, you can think more clearly, understand more deeply, remember more
accurately, and eventually, learn it more quickly.
3.Hard work can be simply defined as putting strenuous hours into a job or task. Hard work is
often a result of not being able to finish work on time. Smart work is a completely different
story. I think it refers to finishing the work or task efficiently and effectively, to achieve the
highest quality in the shortest amount of time.
