(i) This Question paper contains 38 questions. All questions are compulsory.
(ii) This Question paper is divided into five Sections - A, B, C, D and E.
(iii) In Section A, Questions no. 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs) and
Questions no. 19 and 20 are Assertion-Reason based questions of 1 mark each.
(iv) In Section B, Questions no. 21 to 25 are Very Short Answer (VSA)-type questions,
carrying 2 marks each.
(v) In Section C, Questions no. 26 to 31 are Short Answer (SA)-type questions,
carrying 3 marks each.
(vi) In Section D, Questions no. 32 to 35 are Long Answer (LA)-type questions,
carrying 5 marks each.
(vii) In Section E, Questions no. 36 to 38 are Case study-based questions, carrying 4
marks each.
(viii) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in 2
questions in Section B, 3 questions in Section C, 2 questions in Section D and one
subpart each in 2 questions of Section E.
(ix) Use of calculators is not allowed.

Q.35. A Girl makes a working model of physics under Students Innovation Project . She
ties two uncovered copper wires in skew position in her project presenting 𝑟⃗ = 6𝑖̂ + 2𝑗̂ +
2𝑘̂ + 𝛼(𝑖̂ − 2𝑗̂ + 2𝑘̂) and

She wants to tie a insulating wire between these two skew copper wires to stop any short
circuit problem. Find shortest length of insulating wire, if extra margin is not required to
tie.
SECTION- E [4x3=12]
(This section comprises of 3 case-study/passage-based questions of 4 marks each
with subparts. The first two case study questions have three subparts (i), (ii), (iii)
of marks 1, 1, 2 respectively. The third case study question has two subparts of 2
marks each)
Case study-1
Q.36. Given three identical boxes 𝐼, 𝐼𝐼 and 𝐼𝐼𝐼 each containing two coins. In box 𝐼, both
coins are gold coins, in box 𝐼𝐼 , both are silver coins and in box 𝐼𝐼𝐼 there is one gold and
one silver coin.
(i) what is probability of choosing box 𝐼𝐼 randomly ? [1 mark]
(ii) what is probability of drawing a gold coin from bag 𝐼𝐼? [1 mark]
(iii)(a) If a person chooses a box at random and takes out a gold coin randomly, what is
probability that the other coin in the box is also of gold. [2 marks]

(iii) (b) If a person chooses a box at random and takes out a gold coin randomly, what is
probability that the other coin in the box is also of gold. [2 marks]

Case study-2
Q.37. To make curd, milk is boiled at 300 − 400 𝑐 and then few quantity of curd is poured
in the milk. The fermentation increases Lactobacillus bacteria in the mixture.
In a dairy, curd containing 1,00,000 Lactobacillus bacteria is poured in lukewarm milk for
fermentation. The bacteria increases by 10% in 2 hours. If rate of growth of the bacteria
in this fermentation is proportional to the number present.

(i) Find number of the bacteria after 2 hours. [1 mark]


(ii) Form a differential equation for this case study. [1 mark]
(iii) (a) In how many hours will the bacteria count reach double [2 marks]

(iii) (b) Find number of the bacteria after 6 hours (using differential equation)

Case study-3
Q.38. A ball thrown into the air from a building 60 metre high, travels along a path given

by ℎ(𝑥) = 60 + 𝑥 − 60 where 𝑥 is horizontal distance from the building and ℎ(𝑥) is the
height of the ball from ground.

(i) what is the maximum height of the ball will reach? [2 marks]
(ii) Find horizontal distance from the building to the point on the ground where the ball
touches the ground first. [2 marks]
