Monthly Maintenance

1.Verification of Equipment

● Verify that the user´s has all given equipment


● Verify that the user´s equipment is working
● Verify that the user does not need any other equipment
● Verify that software apps and windows are working properly.

2.Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance for a PC involves proactive measures taken to ensure the


computer operates efficiently and to prevent hardware or software failures. Regular
preventive maintenance helps extend the lifespan of the PC, enhances performance, and
reduces the risk of unexpected downtime.

● Cleaning: Remove dust and debris from fans, vents, and internal components using
compressed air or a soft brush.
● Inspecting Components: Look for signs of wear or damage, such as swollen
capacitors or loose connections.
● Disk Cleanup: Remove temporary files, cached data, and other unnecessary files to
free up storage space.

3.Corrective Maintenance

Corrective maintenance refers to actions taken to repair and restore a PC to proper


working condition after a failure, malfunction, or unexpected issue. Unlike preventive
maintenance, which aims to avoid problems, corrective maintenance addresses problems
after they occur.

● Replacement: replacement of old or broken parts or equipment.


● Troubleshooting: troubleshooting software or windows errors.
● Updating Drivers: Update drivers if needed.

4.Software Updates

● Update windows if it is safe to do so.


● Update apps.
● Update Antivirus.

5.Antivirus

● Do a full virus and malware scan.


● Check email breaches.
6.General Backup

File History

● What it Does: Automatically backs up specific folders (e.g., Documents, Pictures) to


an external drive or network location.
● How to Set It Up:
1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup.
2. Select Add a drive and choose your external drive.
3. Turn on File History.
4. Customise folders to back up under More Options.
● Best For: Regular backups of personal files and folders.
● Pros: Easy to use, built into Windows.
● Cons: Limited to specific folders.

Manual Backup

● What it Does: Allows you to manually copy files to an external USB drive or SSD.
● How to Set It Up:
1. Plug in your external drive.
2. Drag and drop important files and folders.
● Best For: Occasional backups of selected data.
● Pros: Simple, no software required.
● Cons: Time-consuming and prone to human error.
