The past two centuries have been characterized by many technological advances that facilitated life for
human beings. This continuous production was commonly known as the industrialisation era, it surely made life
easier for people, but it created one of the biggest problems on planet earth, the problem of pollution.
Pollution is the introduction of harmful substances into the environment. Industrial activities like mining,
manufacturing, and energy production contribute to air, water, and soil pollution. Transportation also
contributes to air pollution through fumes of cars. Agricultural activities such as livestock farming and the use
of fertilizers and pesticides can also cause water and soil pollution.
To reduce the problem of pollution, many measures can be taken. One solution is to use cleaner sources of
energy such as solar, wind, and hydro power. Also, it is better to encourage the use of public transportation and
electric vehicles. Recently, many governments have started supporting recycling companies because they
believe they can help in the fight against pollution too!
