Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

 This section provides a detailed background of the problem being addressed.

 Discuss the industry context or organizational setting where the problem occurs

(e.g., a business, a non-profit, or an internal university department).

 Mention why this system or solution is needed, and the impact of current

inefficiencies or lack of automation.

Theoretical and Conceptual Framework of the Study

 Present a visual or textual representation of how the system works.

 Example: Use the IPO model (Input-Process-Output) or a similar framework to

explain the system's flow.

Statement of the Problem

 State the specific problem that the system is designed to solve.

 Be clear about the pain points in the current business or organizational processes.

Objective of the Study

 General Objective: A broad goal of what the system intends to achieve.

 Specific Objectives: These should be broken down into actionable and

measurable objectives such as automating a certain process, increasing efficiency,

or improving user experience.

Significance of the Study

 Highlight the importance of the system to different stakeholders (e.g., company

owners, users, IT Staff).

 Discuss how it will impact business processes, organizational efficiency, or

decision-making.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

 Scope: Define the system’s coverage—what features will be included, who the

users will be, and the environments where it will be deployed.

 Delimitation: Discuss constraints like budget, timeline, technology, or scope

exclusions.

Definition of Terms
 Define technical terms and acronyms used within the project. This helps non-

technical readers understand the document.

 Write your definition operationally.

Chapter 2
REVIEW OF LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Write your short introduction here before giving information about related

literature and studies.

Review of Related Literature

 Discuss existing literature, frameworks, or systems related to your capstone.

 Local Literature: Review systems or studies relevant to your project within the

Philippines.

 Foreign Literature: Explore global studies or systems relevant to your work.

Review of Related Systems

 Review other information systems that are similar to your proposed solution.

 Include comparisons of features, technologies, or methodologies, and what

innovations your system offers.

Synthesis
 Summarize key takeaways from the reviewed studies and literature.

 Explain how your system will fill gaps or improve on existing solutions.

Chapter 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methodology employed by the researchers in conducting

the study which includes the population of the research instrument and its development,

establishing its validity and reliability, and data gathering procedure.

Research Approach

 Involves selecting appropriate methods to identify, design, and implement an

information system that meets organizational or business needs.

System Development Methodology

 Choose an SDLC model (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, RAD, or Spiral) to follow

throughout the development process.

 Detail each phase (planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing,

deployment, and maintenance).

Gantt Chart

 Visually represents the timeline and progress of the project tasks over a period. It

helps the capstone team plan, track, and manage tasks in an organized manner,

ensuring that the project stays on schedule.

Data Gathering Procedure and Techniques

 Describe how data will be collected for system analysis (e.g., interviews, surveys,

direct observation).

Functional Requirements

Software Requirements

Hardware Requirements

Data and Process Modelling (Context Diagram)

Data Flow Diagram (Level 1)

 Data Flow Diagram (DFD): A visual representation of how data moves

through the system.

Data Flow Diagram (Level 2)

 Data Flow Diagram (DFD): A more detail visual representation of how data

moves through the system.

Entity Relationship Diagram

 Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD): A model showing the relationships

between data entities.

Database Structure

Data Dictionary

Interface Diagram (Wireframe Proposed Design)

 Use Case Diagrams: Scenarios showing how different users will interact with

the system.
Development Tools and Environment

 List down the programming languages, databases, frameworks, and hardware

used in development.

 Examples: PHP, MySQL, Laravel, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, etc.

Testing and Evaluation

 Testing Plans: Detail the unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance

testing procedures.

 Evaluation Metrics: Explain how you will measure the success of the system

(e.g., accuracy, performance).

Ethical Considerations

This chapter presents the methodology employed by the researchers in conducting

the study which includes the population of the research instrument and its development,

establishing its validity and reliability, and data gathering procedure.
