HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

6. Course objectives/goals:
The course is designed to include the following objectives:
6.1 Knowledge
 Define and analyze key theories and functions of HRM
 Examine HR practices
 Discuss multiple stakeholders’ perspectives toward HR issues
 Evaluate the sustainability aspects of HR issues
6.2 Skills
 Develop analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
 Train teamwork skills
6.3 Attitude
 Integrate legal aspects and ethical values in the discussion of contemporary HR problems

Upon the completion of the course, students are expected to

8. Methods of evaluation/assessment
8.1. Purposes and grading system
The assessment takes students’ participation in-class activities and their self-studying abilities into consideration.
The grading system follows the MBA program’s regulations.
8.2. Assessment/Evaluation criteria and exam format
There are three components counted in the final grade as follows:
1 Class participation 5%
2 Group project 35%
3 Final Exam – Final Project 60%

Group Project plan for the Course

Group projects are designed to promote collaboration, practical application, and research skills. One group consist
of 2-4 members. Each group project is tied to the session topics and builds cumulatively, culminating in a
comprehensive final deliverable.

Week 1: HRM Overview and HRM Context (5%)

 Project Task: Analyze the HRM context of Vietnam, focusing on legal, economic, social and cultural factors
influencing HR practices.
 Deliverable: Group Discussion and Presentation

Week 2: HRM Models

 Project Task: Compare and critique two HRM models, applying them to a real-world organization.
 Deliverable: Group Discussion and Presentation

Week 3: Strategic HRM and Human Resource Planning

 Project Task: Conduct workforce planning for a fictional organization, using forecasting methods to
address staffing needs.
 Deliverable: Workforce plan in A1 paper and presentation

Week 4: Recruitment and Selection

 Project Task: Design a recruitment and selection process, including job descriptions, advertising
strategies, and interview questions.
 Deliverable: Process in A1 paper and presentation

Week 5: Training and Development

 Project Task: Develop a training program for a specific skill gap in an industry.
 Deliverable: A training program outline with proposed learning outcomes and metrics for evaluation and
presentation

Week 6: Performance Measurement

 Project Task: Create a performance appraisal framework, including KPIs and feedback mechanisms for a
role in a selected organization.
 Deliverable: A performance measurement framework draft and presentation

Week 7: Reward Management

 Project Task: Design a reward system balancing financial and non-financial incentives for employees at
various levels in an organization.
 Deliverable: A reward strategy draft and presentation

Week 8: Employee Relations

 Project Task: Analyze an employee relations case study, identifying issues and proposing resolutions.
 Deliverable: A case analysis report and a 5-minute presentation.

Final Project

The final project is divided into two parts:

 Part 1: Develop a comprehensive HRM research proposal (30% of the final grade)
 Part 2: Presentation (30% of the final grade)
