Reading passage
Irene is reading the play script of the play Jack and the Beanstalk , which tells
the story of a boy who buys some magic beans.
JACK : (Tiredly) It’s been a long day at school! Luckily it’s Friday today!
JANE : Yay! What are you doing this weekend?
JACK : I will help my mother sell our cow at the market. Our cow is too old to make milk.
I’m sad because I’ll miss her. She’s a very happy and friendly animal. I hope we
can sell her for a good price.
JANE : (Cheerfully) Good luck, Jack! See you on Monday.

JACK’s house. The next day.
JACK’S : Jack, I feel a bit sick today. Could you take the cow to the market by yourself,
MUM please?
JACK : OK, Mum. It’s a nice, sunny day. I’ll walk to the market.
JACK’S : (Seriously) Remember Jack, I want you to sell the cow for plenty of money. We
MUM need the money to buy some food.
JACK : I will. Goodbye.

This year the school is proud to inform you that we will hold our first
Ball Games Day at the Hong Kong Stadium.
Where : Hong Kong Stadium, Wan Chai.
When : Friday 10th April
Students should meet at school at 9.00 a.m. We will leave the school at
9.15 a.m. and arrive at the stadium at 9.45 a.m. The Ball Games Day will
finish at 4 p.m. and the bus will return to school by 4.30 p.m.
