1. If the wear ring has been removed: Fit the
wear ring using 99 244 Base drift.
2. Assemble the lifting accessory on the wheel
hub. See Description – Lifting accessory
assembly for wheel hub with drum brake.

3. Fit new O-rings on both sides of the hub.
Lubricate the outer O-ring with grease or
petroleum jelly. Lubricate the inner O-ring with
oil SAE30 or petroleum jelly.

4. Information! Check that the O-ring is fitted in
the correct position before refitting the wheel
hub.
Push the wheel hub onto the axle end.

IMPORTANT!
Use a new hub nut.

Fit the driver (1) and nut (2). Tighten the nut
using 99 354 115 mm, Socket, 8-sided, 1". Then
lock the nut in two places. Remove the lifting

accessory.

6. Fit the internal ring gear, retaining ring and oil

collector (1). Check that the retaining ring is
fitted in the correct position.

7. Assemble the lifting accessory on the hub
cover. See Description – Lifting accessory
assembly for hub cover.

8. Align the hub cover with the hub by undoing
the screw (1) for the adjustable stay. Then turn
the hub cover to the correct position. Fit the
retaining screws (2). Remove the lifting
accessory.

IMPORTANT!
Insert the half shafts carefully when the oil
collector in the central gear is made of plastic.
There is a risk of damage to the oil collector.
Fit the sun wheel. Lift the inside of the half
shafts using 99 045 Adjusting tool. Lift the half
shaft slightly while rotating the hub slowly
when pressing in the sun wheel.

10. Fit a new O-ring in the hub cover. Lubricate
with SAE30 or petroleum jelly.

11. Fit the hub cover.

12. Assemble the lifting accessory on the brake
drum. See Description – Lifting accessory
assembly for brake drum. Alternatively, use
587 994 Brake drum lift. Fit the brake drum.

13. If necessary, check the adjustment of the brake
slack adjuster. See 10-01 Wheel brake > Brake
slack adjuster.
14. Fit a new O-ring onto the filler plug. Fill with
oil according to section Check – Oil.

IMPORTANT!
Fit the wheels according to the previous mark
on the hub and wheel.
• Single mounting: Fit the wheel according
to the previous mark on the hub and wheel
using 587 121 Wheel lift. Torque tighten
the nuts. See 09-20 Wheels > Wheels for
tightening torques.
• Twin mounting: Fit the inner wheel
according to the previous mark on the hub
and wheel. Then fit the outer wheel
according to the previous mark on the hub
and wheel. Use 587 121 Wheel lift. Torque
tighten the nuts. See 09-20 Wheels >
Wheels for tightening torques.

16. Remove the axle stands and lower the vehicle.
