BIOS update Procedure

This utility updates BIOS.


Please read this document carefully before using the utility.

1 Model names to be updated

Confirm your computer is one of the following models.


The model name is located on the bottom of your computer.

Target models File name of packaged program New BIOS ver.


CF-33[G/J/K/R/S/X/1/2/3]xxxxxx
CF-ALEPEMA9 BIOS_33_V200L15.exe V2.00L15
CF-ALEPEMA9R
FZ-G2[A/B/C/D]xxxxxx BIOS_G2_V100L16.exe V1.00L16

2 CAUTION:
 Log on to Windows as an administrator.
 Connect the AC adaptor and the battery pack, do not remove them until BIOS update is
complete.
 Back up important data to other media or an external hard disk before BIOS update.

3 Procedure

3.1 Confirm the BIOS version

(1) Execute PC Information Viewer.

Click Windows icon on the task bar or press Windows button.
Click "All apps".
Click "Panasonic PC Settings Utility".
Click “Support”.
Click “System”.
Click “Launch PC Information Viewer”.
・Windows10
Click Windows icon on the task bar or press Windows button.
Click "Panasonic PC Settings Utility".
Click “Support”.
Click “System”.
Click “Launch PC Information Viewer”.

(2) Select the [Setup] tab. Confirm the BIOS version from item of BIOS.
(3) Confirm the BIOS version is older than ‘New BIOS version’ listed above table. If
confirmed BIOS version is same or newer than “NEW BIOS version”, BIOS update is
not necessary.

3.2 Preparing the BIOS update program

(1) Turn on the computer and log on to Windows as an administrator.


(2) Execute download “BIOS_xx_VxxxLxx.exe” listed above table.
(3) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when this screen is displayed.
(4) Read the license agreement carefully, and click [Yes].
(5) The screen to specify the destination location appears. The default location is “c:\biosup”.
Specify your location and click [OK]. (You usually don’t need to change the location.)
(6) Wait until the destination folder is displayed.

3.3 Execute the BIOS update program

(1) Execute “BiosUpdate_xxxx-x_xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx.exe” in the destination folder.


(2) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when this screen is displayed.
(3) Click [OK] at the BIOS Update for Panasonic PC.
Note
If you find an error message “This model is not supported. [Code=204]”,the BIOS
update program is not matched to the target model. Please execute another BIOS
update program.
(If Code is other than 204, Refer to “4.1 Error code for the BIOS update
program”.)
(4) The screen of “Before you proceed” appears. Check notes carefully, and click [Yes].
(5) Automatically, Windows will shut down and the BIOS update program will run. Wait
until Windows startup again.
(6) Confirm the BIOS version is updated to ‘New BIOS version’ in the table above in PC
Information Viewer. (Refer to procedure 3.1)

3.4 Options for the BIOS update program.

BiosUpdate supports below options. You can specify options like below by CUI.
Ex: “BiosUpdate_xxxx-x_xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx.exe UiMode=2 SetExitCode=1”

(1) UiMode: User Interaction Mode


“UiMode=x” will specify User Interaction is required or no user interaction / silent
installation mode.
x=0: User interaction is required. (default)
x=1: User interaction is not required / silent installation mode, an error message will be
displayed.
x=2: User interaction is not required / silent installation mode, no error message will be
displayed.
(2) SetExitCode: Error Code
x=0: Error code (which will be shown in error message) will not be reflected to the exit
code of BiosUpdate_xxxx-x_xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx.exe (default)
x=1: Error code will be reflected to the exit code of
BiosUpdate_xxxx-x_xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx.exe.

4 Help

4.1 Error code for the BIOS update program

The following is a list of error codes for the BIOS update program.

Error code Probable cause and solution


The BIOS update program is not matched to the target model.
204
Please execute another BIOS update program.
Unit was installed with Custom BIOS, it cannot be updated to different version
208 of Custom BIOS.
Please contact support team.
Unit was installed with Custom BIOS, it cannot be update to Standard BIOS.
209
Please contact support team.
Unit was installed with sample BIOS, it must be update to Final version before
210 update to any other Standard or Custom version.
Please contact support team.
213 BIOS version string did not match. Please contact support team.

300 The current version is same as target version, BIOS cannot be updated.

301 The current version is newer than target version, BIOS cannot be updated.
