The Impact of Covid 19 on Education


Brought offline education to a halt globally.
Worst for the most vulnerable.
Impacted women disproportionately in Bangladesh.
Widened the educational gap.

EXISTING IT INFRASTRUCTURE
Prior to March 2020
Bangladesh was at a disadvantage regarding internet access
and digital infrastructure.

The Problem
In one of the best schools in the country, this problem was even more evident.
Teachers inexperienced in using IT platforms
Power outages
Difficult for all levels of students to have access to the same IT
Needed to hold admission exams online in a completely new format.

Initial Response
Sent class schedules through digital platforms
Held online classes on zoom and google meet along with class recordings
A class news portal was created
Needed to hold admission exams online in a completely new format.

Communication of Strategy
Both parents and students needed to be onboarded for this to work.
Teachers were trained
Assessment systems were improved and made as fair as possible
Assignments, classwork and homework were given online.
