Task requirements

Overview

As a business systems consultant, your objective is to recommend the implementation of a

Business Information System (BIS) to improve business operations and performance for an
SME that does not currently utilise any BIS.

Task Requirements:

You must deliver a 15 minute PowerPoint presentation to the SME owner, demonstrating your
critical understanding of how business information systems and Business Intelligence can
support business operations and enhance performance. Your presentation must:

1. Identify and assess the key business challenges present within the SME, providing a
range of examples to illustrate these challenges.
2. Provide a rationale for implementing BIS to address these challenges, focussing on one
type of BIS that will effectively mitigate the identified problems.
3. Justify your recommendation of the chosen system, explaining why it is the most
suitable solution for the specific needs of the business.
4. Allocate 5 minutes for a Question and Answer session with the SME owner, allowing for
discussion and clarification on aspects of your presentation’s content.

Presentation Guidelines:

 Your presentation must be presented using PowerPoint (PPT) and should include
speaker notes to avoid overloading the slides.
 You must demonstrate points made with images and visualisations of specific types of
BIS (which may include demonstration videos and clips) to demonstrate their value.
 All visuals, including graphs, data and charts, must be labelled and referenced using
the Harvard Referencing system.
