Q)1 What do you mean by word processor?

Ans: Word processor is an application software that is used to create and edit the text
documents.

Q2) What do you mean by a document and documentation?

Ans: A document or document file describes an electronic copy (hard or soft) of


reference material in the form of text, shapes or images extra for a product. The
process of creating or preparing a document is called documentation.

Q3) What do you mean by Cut/Copy & Paste?


Ans: Copy and Paste is used to create a duplicate copy of selected object text/object
on another location with a document. (Ctrl + C) is to Copy & (Ctrl+V) is to paste.

Cut and Paste means to move the selected text/object from one place to
another within the document. (Ctrl + X) is to Cut & (Ctrl+V) is to paste.

Q4) What does Find and Replace option of a word processor do?

Ans: The Find and Replace option in a word processor enables us to find specific words
in a document and replace with new word either one by one or at single click.

Q5) Difference between a bulleted list and numbered list.


Ans: A bulleted list is used to type an unordered list using symbols or graphics
whereas a numbered list is used to list the items in a proper order or sequence
with the help of numbers, alphabets or romans.

Q6) What is a style?


Ans: A style is a set of formats that you can apply to selected pages, text, frames and
other elements of your document to quickly change their appearance.

Q7) What is the difference between style and template?


Ans: Styles are set of formats whereas templates are ready to use deigns for preparing
documents (model of a document).
Q)8 Difference between line spacing and paragraph spacing.
Ans: The amount of space that is added between the lines of text of a paragraph is
termed as line space. (default line space is single line space) and the amount of
space added before or after a paragraph is called paragraph space.

Q)9 What are header and footer?


Ans: Header and footer generally contains the information that is to be displayed
every page of a document including page number, date, document name,
company logo, author name etc.

Header displays the information on the top of every page and Footer displays
the information at the bottom of every page.

Q)10 What is formatting?


Ans: Formatting refers to the different settings applied to the text, paragraph and
other objects of a document in order to make a document more attractive and
eye catching.

Q)11 Define the following


a) Clipart: Clipart is a collection of cartoon pictures or images that can be
imported into a document.

b) Shapes: Shapes are some readymade drawing objects such as callouts,


square, stars, flow chart shapes etc. these shapes can be added into a document
to extend the visual appeal of document.

i) You can add text to any of the inserted shape with just right on the
shape and select Add Text option from the shortcut menu.

c) WordArt: WordArt is a quick way to insert a decorative text with predefined


special effects and it is used to make your document more effective.

Q)12 What is format painter tool used for?

Ans: Format Painter is available in the Clipboard group on the Home tab and it is
used to quickly copy of formatting effects.
Q)13 What is resizing a picture?

Ans: Resizing a picture means changing the length and breadth of the picture in
order to make that bigger or smaller. Sizing handles/pointers (appears once you
select the picture) helps you to adjust the size.

Q14) What dose cropping a picture means?

Ans: Cropping a picture refers to removing a part of the picture that we do not wish
to see.

Q15) What is the use of Mail Merge in a document?

Ans: Mail Merge is a very useful feature that allow us to write to different people
with the same information which can later be modified for each individual from
a single template form and data source. It also helps a single person to send
mail to a group of recipients.

It mainly involves three components

a) Main document (message or information)


b) Data Source (recipient’s information such as name, mobile number, address
etc.
c) Merged document: the final document after merging.

Q16) What is merging and merged document?

Ans: i) The procedure of combining the main document with the data source is called
merging.

ii) The final document after merging is called the merged document.
