ABSTRACT
This project uses Tableau to create visuals for Netflix and TV shows,
giving a complete picture of the content on the platform. It
includes a bar chart for genre distribution, a pie chart showing the
movies vs. TV shows ratio, and an area chart for viewer ratings
trends. These visuals are combined in a dashboard for a full analysis.
A storytelling approach is used to simplify the data and guide users
through Netflix's content evolution. The result is an easy-to-use
interface for both casual viewers and data enthusiasts to explore
and understand Netflix's diverse content.
TABLEAU
• Tableau is a data visualization tool that allows
users to transform raw data into meaningful
insights through interactive and visually
appealing charts, graphs, and dashboards.
• In the context of Netflix and TV shows, Tableau
is utilized to analyze and present data in a way
that helps Netflix understand viewer preferences,
track content trends, and make data-driven
decisions.
BAR CHART
A Bar Chart in Tableau is a Visual Representation where bars
represent different categories, and their lengths correspond to
the values of the data .To create a bar chart for Netflix and TV
shows based on ratings.
Data Setup:
Import or connect Tableau to the dataset containing Netflix
content information, including ratings and PG levels.
Chart Creation:
Drag the “Rating" field to the Columns shelf.
Drag the “Show ID" field to the Rows shelf and
select measure and select count Distinct and then alter it.
Add the “Count Distinct" field to the Color shelf to
differentiate bars by PG level.
Customization:
Customize the appearance of the Bar Chart, Adjusting
colors and labels.
Utilize sorting options to Highlight the Highest or lowest-
rated content within each PG level.
MAP CHART A map chart is a type of data visualization that represents
data geographically
This visual representation makes it easier to analyze the
global distribution of Netflix content and identify trends in
different countries.
Steps for making Map chart
Data Preparation:
• Have a dataset that includes information about each
country and the number of Netflix movies or TV shows
available in that country.
Map Chart Setup:
• Drag the "Country" field to the geographical location
settings (Longitude and Latitude) on the map chart.
• Drag the field representing the count of Netflix movies
or TV shows to the color settings of the map.
•Color Coding:
•Choose a color scale where light blue represents 1 or
fewer movies or TV shows, and the color becomes
progressively darker as the count increases. This can be
achieved by selecting a gradient of blue shades in the color

• An area chart is a data visualization method that
AREA CHART represents quantitative data over time. It
displays the magnitude of change over a
continuous interval or time span. The chart
consists of one or more areas, each representing
a category of data, and the cumulative value of
the data points in that category.
• Data Preparation:
• Ensure your dataset contains relevant
information about Netflix movies and TV shows,
including release dates, genres, or any other
metrics you want to visualize.
• Make sure your data is structured properly with
a column for dates and another for the metric
you want to represent over time (e.g., the
number of releases).
• Drag and Drop:
• Drag the date field to the Columns shelf.
• Drag the metric field (e.g., the count of Netflix
releases) to the Rows shelf.
• A Pie chart is a Circular Statistical
Graphic that is divided into slices to
PIE CHART illustrate Numerical Proportions. A
pie chart in Tableau can provide a
clear visual representation of the
distribution of Netflix and TV shows
across different categories. It helps
viewers quickly grasp the proportions
and relative sizes of each category
within the Dataset.
• Data Preparation:
• Make sure your Dataset contains the
necessary information for creating a
pie chart. You might want to focus on
categorical data like genres, rating
categories, or any other relevant
classification.
• Drag and Drop:
• Drag the Categorical Variable (e.g.,
genres) to the "Columns" shelf.
DASHBOARD
A Dashboard is a Collection of Multiple Visualizations and Sheets arranged on a Single Canvas. Dashboards allow
you to combine different charts, graphs, and maps to provide a comprehensive view of your data. They are used
to convey insights, trends, and comparisons in a visually appealing and Interactive manner.
Create Individual Visualizations:
Start by Creating Individual Visualizations (such as bar charts, line charts, pie charts, etc.) that convey specific
insights about your Netflix Dataset. For example, you can create charts to show the distribution of genres, the
trend of releases over time, or Ratings Distribution.
Drag Visualizations to the Dashboard:
Once your visualizations are ready, you can drag and drop them onto the Dashboard Canvas. You can do this by
selecting a sheet and dragging it onto the dashboard tab at the bottom of the screen.
The combination of different visualizations on a single canvas provides a holistic view of the dataset and makes it
easier for viewers to understand complex Relationships and trends.
STORY
In Tableau, a "story" is a sequence of sheets or dashboards that work together to convey a narrative or analysis. A
story allows you to guide your audience through a series of visualizations, highlighting key insights
or trends and providing a structured and cohesive presentation.
To create a story in Tableau to explain Netflix movies and TV shows:
• Create Individual Sheets or Dashboards
• Organize Your Content
• Build the Story
• Add Captions and Annotations
• Utilize Dashboard Actions
• Preview and Adjust
To Save and Share:
By using the "Story" feature in Tableau, you can create a structured and compelling narrative about Netflix movies
and TV shows, guiding your audience through key insights and analysis. This approach is particularly effective when
you want to present a sequence of visualizations that together tell a comprehensive and meaningful story.
