Instructions

DPA Binaries are available on the Dell EMC Support site under the Downloads section.

Download the DPA binaries appropriate for your Server and/or remote Agent(s) OS
Copy the DPA Server binary to both servers (Datastore & Application)
Copy the DPA Agent binary to any remote agent server

The Server and Agent binaries are included in the same Server binary file.
There is no need to download any Agent binaries unless you have remote data collection agents in your environment.
****Please do NOT install agent binaries on the DPA Servers****

Install Instructions:

1. Con�rm version of DPA (and patch level) installed.


a. On Application server, open a command prompt (with administrator access)
b. Change directory to the DPA Installation Directory\services\bin
c. Default installation is <install dir>\Program Files\EMC\DPA\services\bin
d. Run the command dpa app ver and note the output (for linux: ./dpa.sh app ver)
2. Perform a Datastore export to make a backup copy of your Datastore in the event of an upgrade failure. *****Most important
step*****
a. On the Datastore server, open a command prompt (with administrator access)
b. Go to \emc\dpa\services\bin and run the command dpa ds export (for linux: ./dpa.sh ds export)
c. Note: if you add a path at the end of the command you can save it in a separate location. Otherwise it defaults to the
directory where the command was run.
d. Make sure to move the DS export to a safe location outside of the \emc\dpa\services\bin folder.
3. Stop both DPA services (Application and Agent) on the Application server
4. Stop both DPA services (Datastore and Agent) on the Datastore server
5. Run the server executable on the Datastore server (always upgrade Datastore �rst)
�. Run the server executable on the Application server
7. Enter dspassword when prompted
�. Enter dpaagent password when prompted
9. If there are any other agents in the environment, upgrade these next using the agent binaries
10. You will be able to launch the GUI when the application is deployed
11. Go to Default installation is \Program Files\EMC\DPA\services\applications
a. The �le extensions will change from .deploying to .deployed
