3. To avoid Plagiarism the students are required to ensure that their report does not have

be less than 30%.
4. TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
5. PREPARATION FORMAT:
5.1 Cover Page & Title Page –The format of the cover page is given in Annexure - 1. The
title page should be the same as the cover page and the actual numbering (in roman)
will start from the title page.
Note: The page number should not be indicated on the title page.
5.2 Candidate’s Declaration – It should be in 1.5 line spacing using Font Style Times New
Roman and Font Size 12, as per the format in Annexure 2.
5.3 Certificate – The Certificate shall be in 1.5 line spacing using Font Style Times New
Roman and Font Size 12, as per the format in Annexure 3.
5.4 Acknowledgement - The student must acknowledge all those who helped in the
preparation of the seminar.
5.5 Table of Contents – The table of contents lists the chapters, topics and sub-topics
together with their page number. Sub-topics and topics should be labeled according to the
chapter, for example, the first topic in Chapter 1 should be marked 1.1 and the first sub-
topic, 1.1.1. This numbering system provides a clear picture of the relationship between
chapters and topics and shows how they are connected. Table of Contents must have the
page numbers in lower case Roman letters. One and a half spacing should be adopted for
typing the matter under this head. (Refer Annexure-4).
5.6 List of Tables – This list contains the titles of tables, together with their page numbers,
which are listed in the text or in the appendix. The numbering system is the same as that
used for topics, for example; Table 1.3, Table 1.3.7 and Table 1.3.7 (a). The list should
use exactly the same captions as they appear above the tables in the text. One and a half
spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. (Refer Annexure - 5).
5.7 List of Figures – This list contains the titles of figures, together with their page numbers,
which are listed in the text or in the appendix. The numbering system is the same as that
used for topics, for example; Figure 1.3, Figure 1.3.7 and Figure 1.3.7 (a). The list should
use exactly the same captions as they appear below the figures in the text. One and a half
spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. (Refer Annexure-5)
5.8 List of Abbreviations – One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter
under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations etc. may be included.
5.9 Abstract – This is usually a very concise summary of what the report is about and
usually placed before the body of your writing. The abstract can be read to get a quick
overview. It tells the reader what to expect in your work and it should be based on all you
have written. Abstract should be one page synopsis of the seminar report typed in double
line spacing, Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 12.
Note: Page Numbers should start from abstract like 1, 2, 3….
5.10 Appendices - Technical information which would ‘clutter’ the body of the report is
placed in an appendix or appendices. Examples of information that could be included in
an appendix include tables/charts/ graphs of results, statistics, questionnaires, transcripts
of interviews, pictures, lengthy derivations of equations, maps, drawings, letters,
specification or data sheets, computer program information. There is no limit to what can
be placed in the appendix providing it is relevant and reference is made to it in the report.
An appendix is referred to by letter in the report, eg, (See Appendix A). Each appendix
should begin on a separate page, and be named:
Appendix A: Title
Appendix B …
Appendix C …
5.11 List of References –The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the heading
“REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left – justified. The reference
material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the
author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details. A typical
illustrative list given below relates to the citation example quoted above.
