1. Task

Students should form teams of (5) students self-selected. Each team will select a local
brand in the Egyptian market and analytically describe specific issues related to the
brand chosen including a situation analysis, choosing one of Ansoff’s product strategy,
analyzing the (company) internal environment, competitive analysis, choosing one of
Porter’s generic strategies, the objectives of your CRM system, choosing a promotional
platform to communicate with customers and international strategies applied.

2. Objectives

Apply what students have studied theoretically in Principles of Marketing and Marketing
Management.

3. General Instructions

a) The report

Should not only include theories and secondary data, but also your own in- depth
analysis, valid and backed-up opinion and constructive arguments.

Proper citation using BUE referencing style is required.

A cover page with the name of the module, module code, topic, names and IDs of
group members.

List of contents and ensure all page numbers are inserted on this page Specific
issues for the suggested local brand
All sources need to be referenced in text (for example: Taylor, 2009:23)

b) Layout and Format:

The report must be:

i. Word-processed.
ii. Submitted on A4 paper.
iii. Double line spaced.
iv. Font Arial 12 point.

c) Submission Process

 One hard copy.


 One soft copy uploaded on Turnitin.
 One hard copy of the Turnitin originality report.

Word Limit

 The report must be 3000 words (excluding table of contents,


references, bibliography).
 No penalty will be applied if the word limit is exceeded by up to
15%.
 If the word limit is exceeded by more than 15% (e.g. more than
3450 words), then the total mark will be reduced.
 It is not recommended that the report should be of less than 3000
words, as it will not meet expectations.
 You must state on the submission form the number of words.
 Page numbers centered on the bottom of each page in the format-
(Page 1 of 4).
 Clear numbers of sections and subsections
The report also has to include:
 Coursework submission form (note you have to state the number of
words in the Statement of Academic Honesty Form).
 Feedback form.

4. Marking Criteria
Each group should refer to the assessment criteria published on the module e-
learning page. A detailed tasks for group and individual contribution will be
uploaded on the e-learning.
Students will be evaluated for a submission of a group report that is worth 40% of
the module total grade of which 60% for the group work and 40% for individual
work.

5. Feedback
Feedback will be given to students within 20 working days (might take longer if needed) from
the actual date of submission. Grades and marks will be given in addition to providing feedback
on areas of strengths and weaknesses and advice on how to improve future performance.
Generic feedback is posted on the e learning.

6. Advice
This assignment should be your own work. You should make reference to the literature but the
report should contain your own ideas, based on your understanding of the problem and the
analysis you have undertaken. It should be specific not general.
Do not pass off the work of others as your own. We want to see your understanding,
your ability, your ideas, etc. Cite references correctly but do not be over dependent on
them. You should aim for a Turnitin similarity index of perhaps no more than 10%. Less and
you will not have been embedding your work in the literature. More and you will be over-
dependent on it.
Do not have someone else write the work for you. This can be detected and will be severely
penalised.
If academic misconduct is suspected, it will be investigated thoroughly and it is likely to be
treated as a Major Offence under the University’s Examination and Assessment
Regulations (see paras 10.17- 10.32).

7. Coursework Re-assessment
An individual report is required to be submitted during the Summer Assessment Period. A
detailed Coursework Brief for the re-sit will be uploaded on e-learning during the Summer
Assessment Period.
