Question
You are required to compare between United Kingdom and One other country in terms of their
employee relations. Critically discuss the significant employee relations’ issues that affect the
employee work environment. You need to provide relevant examples for the respective issues
discussed.
Instructions
1. You and your group members are required to write your answer within the word limit of
2,500 words, excluding citations and references.
2. The report layout should essentially follow the structure/ outline provided in the question
above. You and your group members are expected to support your answers with clear
evidence from the selected collective agreements if any and related academic reference(s). A
copy of workload matrix (indication work division/ completion of tasks) must be attached
with the report, to ascertain individual contribution.
3. Your attention is also drawn to APU’s regulations on plagiarism; these regulations apply to
this coursework. Any information taken from another source (e.g. journals, textbooks,
internet sites) must be referenced using the APA Referencing style.

Brief introduction of UK and the chosen country (name, history & beginning of 10 marks
IR/ER development)
CONTENT: 30 marks
Clarity and flow of information and the ability to compare and critically discuss the
development of employee relations in UK and the chosen country rather than plain
description within the constraints of the word limit
RESEARCH: 20 marks
Comprehensive review of the selected texts and the ability to support views
presented with proper reasoning. Appropriate and different sources must be
reviewed, focusing on academic research and not just secondary research from
URLs.
RECOMMENDATION: 20 marks
Discussion of improvement of ER practices in UK and the chosen country with
supporting argument/theoretical underpinning based on own evaluation
REFERENCING AND CITATION: 10 marks
APA Referencing style; credible source(s) of information.

75 - 100% Good analysis of the problem situation. Clear identification of issues and
convincing application of employee relations concepts to deduce the
areas/issues identified. Citations must be from between 8 to 10 academic
references. Interesting arguments are presented based on selected reference
sources. Arguments are coherent and convincing, based on reflective reading.
Points are supported with valid explanation and good reasoning. Shows critical
analysis, understanding, thought and reflection of subject matter.
65 - 74% Sufficient points are raised and valid explanations are provided based on
accurate identification of employee relations issues. Arguments presented are
adequate, based on selected text and relevant areas of research. Citations must
be from between 5 to 8 academic references. There is sufficient critical analysis
of problem and possible solutions, reflecting sound understanding of subject
matter.
Below 50% No understanding of the subject matter and failure to address the needs of the
question. Points are off-topic/ random and unrelated to selected text or areas of
