13 - Installation Procedure

The software is supplied on two floppy disks as a standard system accessory. V5.13 is required for use
with the new XC board PX71-07030 Gr.4, and is compatible with earlier revisions of the XC board. That
new board supports the X-ray modulation function and is installed in Aquilion32/64 systems as from
September 2005. See also FSM-CT3415, dated 12 September 2005.
As the XC test-program’s installation screens are in Japanese, they won’t display correctly if the operating
system does not support Japanese. Moreover, non-Japanese generally do not understand the messages
even if they would be displayed correctly. Follow the guidelines below to install the software.
1. Copy the contents of both floppies into one (new) folder on the hard disk of the service PC.
The folder should preferably be in the root of the hard disk, otherwise an error may occur while
executing “setup.exe”.
2. Run the “setup.exe” from the (new) folder on the service PC. The following screen will appear.
3. After a second, the following installation screen will show. Click OK

4. The following interactive screen will show. There are two choices:
Click the PC icon to start installation in the default location C:\Program Files\XCtest. Continue
with step 5.
To specify an alternative location, click “?????????(C)”. Continue with step 4.1.
An alternative location should be selected to avoid affecting a previous version of the software,
which may already be installed in the default location.
4.1 Specify the alternative location in the box, e.g. XCtest513, and click OK.
Click Yes to confirm.

4.2 Click the PC icon to install the software.
5. The following screen will show. Click “??(C)” to continue.
This will create a shortcut in the Programs list. However, the shortcut points to the executable file
of the previous software. The shortcut is modified in step 7.
6. Installation will take place and a progress bar is shown. After file copying is finished the following
message will appear. Click OK to complete the installation.

7. Shortcuts
7.1 All Programs list.
Click Start - All Programs - and mouse-over the folder XCtest.
Mouse-over XCtest, right click and select Properties. The following window will appear.
Change the target “xctest.exe” into “xctest513.exe”, and click Apply followed by OK.

Rename the shortcut in the Programs list e.g. to “XCtest513”.
7.2 Desktop.
Click Start - All Programs - and mouse-over the folder XCtest.
Mouse-over XCtest (or XCtest513), right click and mouse-over “Send to”.
Click on “Desktop (create shortcut)”.

8. Start the software and confirm the version. Click “Help” and select “About XC test (A)”.
