INSTRUCTIONS
Students are advised to do assignment in your subject notebook
Q.1 to 3 are of 1 marks only
Q.4 to 6 are of 2 marks only
Q 7 and 8 are of 3 marks only
Q.9 is of 5 marks only

Q.1 The current flowing through a conductor and the potential difference across its two ends are as per readings of the ammeter and voltmeter
shown below. The resistance of the conductor would be

Q.2 In a voltmeter there are 20 division between the 0 mark and 0.5 V mark. The least count of the voltmeter is
(a) 0.020 V (b) 0.025 V
© 0.050 V (d) 0.0250 V
Q.3A student set up electric circuit shown here for finding the equivalent resistance to two resistors in series. In this circuit.

(a) Resistors have been connected correctly but the voltmeter has been wrongly connected.
(b) Resistors have been connected correctly but the ammeter has been wrongly connected.
(c) Resistors as well as voltmeter have been wrongly connected.
(d) Resistors as well as ammeter have been wrongly connected.

Q.4 two wires A and B are of same metal, have the same area of cross section and have their lengths in the ratio 2:1. What will be the ratio of
currents flowing through them respectively, when the same potential difference is applied across length of each of them?
Q.5 Two conductors , one having resistance R and another 2R are connected in turn across a dc source. If the rate of heat produced in the two
conductors is Q1 and Q2 respectively, what is the value of Q1/Q2?
Q.6 There is a frill of 20 bulbs connected in series in a room. One bulb gets fused. The remaining 19 are again joined in series and connected
to the same supply. Will the light increase or decrease in the room?
Q.7 In the figure below A, B and C are three ammeters. The ammeter B reads 0.5 A. Calculate (i) the readings in the ammeters A and C. (ii)
the total resistance of the circuit.
Q.8 Three incandescent bulbs of 100 W each are connected in series in an electric circuit. In another circuit, another set of three bulbs of the
same wattage are connected In parallel to the same source.
(i) Will the bulbs in the two circuits glow with the same brightness? Justify your answer.
(Ii) Now let one bulb in both the circuits get fused. Will the rest of the bulbs continue to glow in each circuit? Give reason.
Q.9 Study the following electric circuit in which the resistors are arranged in three arms A, B and C:

Study the above circuit carefully and give the answers of the following questions:
(I) Find the equivalent resistance of arm C.
(II) Calculate the equivalent resistance of the parallel combination of the arm B and C.
(III) Determine the current that flows through the ammeter.
(IV) Determine the current that flows in the ammeter when the arm B is withdrawn from the circuit.
