Asterisks indicate that you have to repeat the sequence from * to * across the row.
Double crochet 4 together: yarn over and insert your hook into the chain space, yarn over and pull up a
loop, yarn over and pull through the first two loops (2 loops on the hook). Yarn over, and insert your
hook into the same chain space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (3
loops on the hook). Yarn over, insert your hook in the same chain space, yarn over and pull up a
loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (4 loops on the hook). Yarn over, insert your hook in the
same chain space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (5 loops on the
hook). Yarn over and pull through all five loops at once.
Half double crochet 3 together: yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and pull up a
loop (3 loops on the hook). Yarn over, and insert your hook into the same stitch. Yarn over and pull up
a loop (5 loops on the hook). Yarn over again, insert your hook in the same stitch, yarn over and pull up
a loop (7 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull through all seven loops at once.
Start with a magic ring: with your left hand open, wrap the working yarn around your index and middle
finger twice. Turn your hand palm-down towards the table. Looking at the back of your hand, you'll see
two parallel strands of yarn. Insert your crochet hook from right to left, underneath the right strand and
grab the left strand with your hook. Pull it under the right strand to form a loop, grab the left strand and
pull through.
Row 1: Chain 3 and work 15 double crochet into the ring to reach a total of 16 stitches. Pull the tail tight
to close the ring and join with a slip stitch into the top chain of the 3 chains you made at the beginning.
Pull up the loop and remove the hook. Then, turn the work and insert the hook into the same chain
where you just worked the slip stitch. Grab the loop and pull through. Turn (right side facing you) and
work next row.
CHANGE COLOR: insert the new color into the loop making chain 1 to fix it.
Row 2: Make a half double crochet 3 together into the very 1st stitch (the same chain where you just
worked the slip stitch), * chain 1 and work a half double crochet 3 together in next stitch *.
At the end of the row chain 1 and work a slip stitch in 1st stitch. Cut the yarn.
CHANGE COLOR: insert the hook into one of the 16 chain spaces, grab the yarn of the new color and
pull it through.
Row 3: Chain 3 to create the 1st stitch of the row and work 3 double crochet closed together: work as a
double crochet 4 together, repeating the process 1 time less, resulting in 4 loops on your hook instead
of 5. Then, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on your hook.

* Chain 2 and work a double crochet 4 together in next chain space *.
At the end of the row chain 2 and finish with a slip stitch into the top chain of the 3 chains you made at
the beginning. Cut the yarn.
CHANGE COLOR: insert the hook into one of the 16 chain-2 spaces, grab the yarn of the new color and
pull it through.
Row 4: Chain 3 to create the 1st stitch of the row and work 3 double crochet into the same chain-2
space. This is the first half of the corner, which is completed at the end of the row.
Sides: work 3 half double crochet in each of the next 3 chain-2 spaces.
Corners: in next chain-2 spce work 3 double crochet - chain 2 - 3 double crochet.
At the end of the row work into the first corner to complete it: 3 double crochet - chain 2 - slip stitch
into the top chain of the 3 chains you made at the beginning. Cut the yarn.
The yarn label says "Yarn Weight 4, Medium" but in the chart I've written "Yarn Weight 3" because I think this is a light
yarn and can be worked with a 4.00mm crochet hook, resulting in a similar outcome as shown in the video. I've used
other yarns labeled as "Medium", and they were thicker, requiring 5mm or even 6mm crochet hooks. The two yarns
have different results.
