The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Data Management, the Data Architect will support the
design, execution and management of the Foundation’s data architecture in line with the
DDIT’s strategic goals and data governance standards. The successful candidate will
support the definition of the Foundation’s data architecture and enterprise data strategy as
part of a newly established Data and Analytics function. As part of a small team, Data
Architects should be flexible and able to build a strong understanding of the Foundation’s
context to develop right-sized approaches which respond to unique business needs. This
role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and manage digital solutions that
serve to enhance operational efficiency and amplify the Foundation’s impact, furthering the
achievement of its 2030 vision.
Ways You Can Contribute:
● Data Quality Management: Support the Head of Enterprise Data management in
collaboration with the Data Governance and Processing team to define and
implement data quality metrics and monitoring processes to ensure accuracy,
completeness, and reliability of data. Work with stakeholders from across the
Foundation, including Programs and Impact Functions, to ensure consistent and
effective data management practices across all departments and programs.
● Data Architecture and Integration: Collaborate with IT and data teams to
implement and maintain a data architecture that supports data governance
objectives, including data integration, metadata management, and data lineage
tracking.
● Data Architecture Strategy: Support the Head of Enterprise Data Management to
define a fit-for-purpose Data Architecture strategy which is scalable and supports the
Foundation’s core objectives.
● Solution Architecture: Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to
co-create solutions which meet the needs of stakeholders across the Foundation.
Participate in the Technology Solution Forum, advising on solution architecture and
ensuring data architecture standards are adhered to across all projects.
● Data Modelling: Work closely with the wider Enterprise Data Management team and
Data and Analytics sub-function to support design and implementation of data
models for system interoperability and BI and analytics requirements, advising on
Data Architecture principles to ensure efficient and reliable data flows across
Foundation platforms.
● Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the DDIT, wider Foundation, and other
key stakeholders to ensure alignment on data architecture priorities and practices.
Ensure architecture-related templates, guidelines and deliverables are kept
up-to-date.
Who You Are:
● Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or
a related field (Master's degree preferred).
● Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related
role.
● Experience in designing and implementing data architectures for enterprise
environments, preferably with experience building capabilities in an immature
organization.
● Experience with database design, data modeling, and data management
technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing, data lakes).
● Experience with cloud data platforms including Microsoft Azure.
● Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration platforms.
● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to explain complex technical
concepts to non-technical stakeholders internally and externally.
● Demonstrated commitment to the Foundation's equity, inclusion, and social impact
values, with a passion for driving positive change and empowering underserved
communities globally.
