1. The photo-current of a photoelectric cell can be suppressed by appli-


cation of a potential of −1 volt to the collecting electrode, when the
monochromatic light striking the emitting electrode has a wavelength
of 600 nm.

(a) What is the work function of the emitting surface?


(b) What is the energy of the most energetic photoelectrons?
(c) What maximum wavelength can the monochromatic illumination
have and produce photo-current in this cell?

2. A photon of energy 1.12 MeV performs a Compton collision on an


electron initially at rest.

(a) Find the wavelength of photon scattered at ϕ = 60o ?

3. A Compton effect experement is performed in such a way that the

10. The wave function of a particle moving in y direction within −b ≤ y ≤ b
