ARTICLE
- An article is a short
monosyllabic word that is

used to define if the noun is
specific or not.
- An article is defined as “any of
a small set of words or affixes
(such as a, an, and the) used
with nouns to limit or give
definiteness to the
application.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Are we clear, class?”

"To proceed with our discussion,

arrange the jumbled letters of
each type of Article we will
tackle.”

"For the first type of Article, we

have..."

"What do you think is the first

type of Article?"

(The teacher selects students

using dice to answer.)

(The students answered the

question.)

“Definite”
"Exactly! The first one is
Definite."

something specific or already
mentioned.

to indicate the superlative
degree of comparison
- They are used with nouns that
are already known or have
been previously mentioned in
the context.

"Can you give me an example of

a word or phrase using the article

‘The’?"

(The teacher selects students

of a word or phrases using the

“Very well, Ara! We have a

proper noun.”

INDEFINITE ARTICLE
- Used before singular,
countable nouns to refer to
something general or
unspecified.

"Can you provide another

example of proper nouns?"

(Students share their own

“Great job, class!” examples of proper nouns.)
“Next, we have…”

“The third type of noun is... What

is it, Eleana?”

“Concrete noun, Ma’am Twinkle.”

“Very good, Eleana. Now let's
define concrete noun.”

Concrete Noun
- A concrete noun is something
that can be perceived through
the five senses; something
that is physical or real.
- Example: table, chair, and
pen.

“Is there anyone who may share

their own example of a concrete
noun? Write it on the whiteboard
and underline the concrete noun

used."

“How about you, Margaret?”

(The student will write their answer

on the whiteboard.)
“Good example, Margaret!”

"The fourth type is... Yes, Dee?"

“I think it is an abstract noun.”

"That's correct, Dee! The fourth
type of noun is called an abstract
noun."

Abstract Noun
- Abstract nouns are intangible
ideas that can’t be perceived
with the five senses, such as
emotions, personality traits,
and philosophical concepts.
They don’t exist in the
physical world.
- Often you can create abstract
nouns from verbs and
adjectives, by taking the root
word and adding a suffix.
- Example: love and fear.

"How about you, Kim? Can you

share your example of an
abstract noun in a sentence?"

"Happiness is all I need."

"Thank you, Kim. Very good

example!"

"The next type of noun is

called..."

"Can you guess the next type of

noun, Sai?"

"I guess it is a collective noun."

"Exactly, Sai! The next one is

called a collective noun."

Collective Noun
- A collective noun is a naming
word that is used to denote a
group of objects, animals or
people.
- Example:
- A band of musicians.
- A pride of lions roamed
around the savanna.

“Now, can someone underline

the collective noun used in the
given example?"
(The students will underline the
collective noun used in the given
sentence.)

"Perfect! Your answers are

correct."
