1. Define characteristic impedance.

ZSC = 600∠-20° Ω.
6. What are primary and secondary constants in transmission line?

10.Write the condition for a distortionless line.

ii) Explain in detail about waveform distortion and also derive the
condition for minimum attenuation in a distortion less line (7MARKS)
13. a) Derive the expression for the input impedance of dissipation less
line and find the maximum and minimum impedance. (13 MARKS)

14(b)i. A generator of 1V, 1000 cycles, supplies power to a 100 mile open wire
line terminated in ZO and having following parameters: Series resistance R =
10.4 ohm/ mile, Series inductance L = 0.00367 H/mile, Shunt conductance G = 0.8
x 10-6 mho/ mile, and capacitance between conductors C = 0.00835 μF/mile.
Find the characteristic impedance, Propagation constant, attenuation constant,
phase shift constant, velocity of propagation and wavelength.

15(a)Define the reflection coefficient and voltage standing wave ratio and draw
the voltage and current wave forms when the transmission line is terminated by
matched load ,short circuit ,open circuit and reactance terminations.(13MARKS)

16 (a). What is loading? Explain the different types of loading and also
prove that distortionless line can be achieved by means of loading.

b) A generator of 1V, 1000 cycles, and supplies power to a 100 mile
open wire line terminated in 200 ohms resistance. The line parameters
are R = 10.4 ohms per mile, L = 0.00367 Henry per mile, G = 0.8 106
mho per mile, C = 0.00835 µF per mile. Determine the following
parameters; Reflection coefficient, Sending end impedance, Sending
end current, Receiving end current, Receiving end voltage, Input
power, Power delivered to the load and Efficiency of transmission
line.
