(i) a basis of U ;

(ii) a basis of W ;

(iii) a basis of U + W ;

(iv) dim(U ∩ W ).

(ii) the basis S = {u1 , u2 , u3 } = {(1, 1, 1), (1, 1, 0), (1, 0, 0)}.

8. Let E = {(1, 0, 0), (0, 1, 0), (0, 0, 1)}, S = {(1, 0, 1), (2, 1, 2), (1, 2, 2)}. Find

(i) the transition matrix P from the basis E to the basis S;

(ii) the transition matrix Q from the basis S to the basis E.
