Tutorial Presentation
You will be invited to form smaller groups in your tutorial class for your group assessment. The
number of students in each group will depend on the size of the tutorial class. Each group will select a
topic of interest that discusses the relationship(s) between environment and development in local,
national, regional, and/or global context(s).
Each group will give a presentation on the chosen topic. You are also expected to devise at least 3
discussion questions and lead a discussion session with fellow classmates after the presentation. Both
the presentation and discussion session should aim to promote a better understanding on the topic
among fellow classmates.
There are readings available under each topic, which forms a starting point as well as foundation for
your preparation of the presentation and discussion. You are also encouraged to solicit other materials
to enrich your presentation. Additional materials may include other journal articles and relevant
empirical studies on the same topic, audio-visual/multimedia resources and so on.
Students are expected to attend the tutorials and ensure that they have undertaken the
required readings prior to the tutorial
Each topic should ideally be selected by ONE group only
Each group will have 25 – 30 minutes to present the materials of their chosen topic, followed
by a 10 – 15 minutes discussion session.
In order to facilitate the discussion process, another group will be designated as the
principal respondent to the presenter group. Usually the group to be presenting on the next
topic will be designated as the respondent group for the presenter group on the current
topic, while the first group will be the respondent for the last group of presenters in the
academic term.
Students who are not designated as presenter / principal respondent are also expected to
participate actively during the tutorial

Each group should send their materials, including PowerPoint files if any, to the tutor
responsible for your class at least one day before the date of your presentation. Each group
should also prepare a brief outline to distribute to the fellow students in order to enhance their
understanding
