Careers in events management are becoming popular and


competitive, with event organisers producing events that range from
huge music festivals to product launches for small businesses.

This unit uses a project-based learning (PBL) approach to enable you


to develop your knowledge and skills while at the same time
enhancing your employability by getting hands on experience in
industry.

You will be tasked with creating an event and will ultimately work to
stage an event involving a local business.

Scenario or This unit will be linked with Unit 17 Digital Marketing in which you
Context shall be tasked with creating a digital marketing campaign to promote
the event.

As part of your research into your options for the future you have
decided to explore the role of an event organiser and your suitability
for this role.
Your research into your suitability for this role will involve carrying out
two skills audits, one for an events organiser, and one for yourself.

You will use your research to produce a report.

You are required to undertake comprehensive research in order to
gather evidence into the role and skills of an event organiser.

 Using this research, prepare a report which explains the role


and skills required to be an effective events organiser.
 Carry out an online personal skills audit (takes 1 hour) that
investigates your own skills and add the results of this to
your report. (National Careers Service)
