Lab # 01

Objective:-
State Basic Introduction of Hardware Components of Computer.

Explanation:-
Computer:-

A computer is an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions

stored in its own memory that can accept data (input), process the data
according to specified rules, produce information (output), and store the
information for future use.
Computer hardware:-

 Computer hardware is the collection of physical elements.

 These physical elements constitutes a computer system.

 The actual machinery are wires, transistors, and circuits … etc.

Computer Units:-
1. Input Unit

2. Central processing Unit

3. Primary Memory Unit

4. Secondary storage Unit

5. Output Unit

Input Devices
 Input device is any peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment to
provide data and control signals to an information processing system
such as a computer or other information appliance.
 Input device Translate data from form that humans understand to one that
the computer can work with. Most common are keyboard and mouse
Computer Units

Central Processing Unit

 CPU
 known as microprocessor or processor
 It is responsible for all functions and processes
CPU Components
 The CPU is comprised of three main parts
1. ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit)
2. Control Unit (CU)
3. Registers: Stores the data that is to be executed next.
Output Unit
 An output device is any piece of computer hardware
equipment used to communicate the results of data
processing carried out by an information processing
system (such as a computer)
 converts the electronically generated information into
human-readable form.

Lab # 02

Objective:-
To Install Window 7 Operating System.

Minimum System Requirements for Windows 7:-

Processor (CPU) 1 GHz or faster CPU

Memory (RAM) 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
Hard drive free space 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB
(64-bit)
Bootable CD/DVD DVD drive
Graphics memory 128 MB or more
Flash Drive (Bootable Pen Drive)

Explanation:-
The Operating System provides for the user to utilize the functions of a computer
by managing the hardware and software in it. The image Above depicts how the
system software and application software interact with the hardware.
The software which facilitate the interaction between human user and hardware is
the Operating System. The Operating System provides instructions for installation
and management of various application software. Not only that the Operating
System manages all the input, output and computer memory too, which means that
Operating System is the sole software which manages the whole.

What is the Booting

1.When the user powers up the computer the CPU (Central Processing Unit)
activates the BIOS (Basic Input Output System).
2. The first program activated is POST (Power On Self-Test). Using the CMOS
(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) memory this checks all the
hardware and confirms that all are functioning properly.
3. After that it reads the MBR (Master Boot Record) in boot drive in accordance
with the firmware ‘bootstrap loader’ which is Provided by the computer
manufacturer.
4. Then the computer loads in the Operating System in boot drive to the RAM
(Random Access Memory). This whole process is called booting which means that
an Operating System is loaded into the RAM (main memory)
