Lesson 7 Computer Peripherals - INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES
Computer Peripheral
is any external device that connects to and works with a computer to either input data, output data, or
store information, but is not part of the computer’s core system.
These devices expand the functionality of the computer, enabling it to perform additional tasks or enhance user
interaction.
INPUT DEVICES
Input devices are used to provide data and control signals to a computer. They convert user actions into a form
the computer can process.
OUTPUT DEVICES
Output devices present information from the computer to the user in a readable or perceptible format.
1. Monitor – Displays visual output from the computer, such as text, images, and videos.
2. Printer – Converts digital documents into hard copies.
3. Speakers – Produce sound output.
4. Projector – Projects visual output onto a larger screen.
5. Headphones – Deliver audio output directly to the user's ears.
Some devices function as both inputs and output devices, facilitating two-way interaction.
1. Touchscreen – Can display visual output and accept input via touch.
2. Headset – microphone as input and speaker as output.
3. Fax Machine – Can scan and send documents and receive and print documents.
4. External Hard Drive – Can both store and retrieve data.
5. VR Headset – Captures user movements as input while displaying immersive visuals as output.
