Title: Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less
Author: Greg McKeown
"Essentialism: Unlocking Digital Marketing Success
through Focus and Prioritization”

Slide 2:

Slide 3:
THE ESSENCE OF ESSENTIALISM
• Not about getting more things done, but getting the right things done.
• Living by design, not default.
• Distinguish vital few from trivial many and eliminate non-essentials.
• Remove obstacles so that essentials have clear, smooth passage.
• Make significant progress in fewer directions rather than minimal progress in many directions.

Slide 4:
The book is comprised of 4 parts:
Part I: Essence: What is the core mindset of an Essentialist?
Part II: Explore: How can we discern the trivial many from the vital few?
Part III: Eliminate: How can we cut out the trivial many?
Part IV: Execute: How can we make doing the vital few things effortless?

Slide 5:
CORE PRINCIPLES OF ESSENTIALISM

Slide 6:
1.) The Invincible Power of Choice:
Essentialism begins with the recognition that individuals have the power to choose how they
spend their time and energy.

• Nonessentialist: “I have to.” – forfeits the right to choose

• Essentialist: “I choose to.” – exercises the power of choice

Slide 7:
2.) The Disciplined Pursuit of Less:
Essentialism requires discipline and the ability to say "no" to non-essential activities or requests.
It involves:
- setting clear boundaries
- understanding the trade-offs involved
- prioritizing activities that align with one's goals and values.

1. Lack of Clarity of the Essential

2. Fear of Social Awkwardness

Slide 8:
3.) Priority and Focus:
- Essentialists understand that trying to do everything often leads to mediocrity.

Slide 9:
4.) Simplify and Create Space:
- Essentialists seek simplicity and strive to eliminate clutter from their lives.
- They constantly evaluate their commitments and eliminate anything that doesn't align with their
priorities.

Slide 10:
5.)The Joy of Missing Out (JOMO):
- Essentialists embrace the idea of missing out on non-essential activities in order to fully
engage in what they have chosen.
- By accepting trade-offs, they experience a sense of freedom, joy, and fulfillment in pursuing
what truly matters to them.

Slide 11:
6.) Protecting Time for Essential Activities:
- Essentialists guard their time and create routines and systems that support their essential
activities.
- They eliminate distractions, set boundaries, and learn to delegate or say "no" to non-essential
demands.

Slide 12:
7.) The Continuous Journey of Essentialism:
- Essentialism is not a one-time decision but an ongoing process of reflection and course
correction.
- It requires constant evaluation and adjustment as circumstances and priorities change.

Slide 13:
"To attain knowledge add things everyday. To attain wisdom, subtract things everyday."
-Lao-tzu
