At XYZ Corporation, the management introduces a new project that requires employees to

working in groups.

The operating system performs many functions. They are as follows: System Accounting: The
information about the working of the system is maintained in the operating system. Such
information includes the amount of memory used, the CPU time consumed for different
operations, the number of users in a particular session, etc

Sharing Devices : The hardware i.e. the peripheral devices like printer, scanner can beshared
among several users. The operating system keeps track of availability of the device and allocates
it to the users who request its use. If the device is busy, then the request are put in a queue. It
maintains separate queues for each device. The request is answered according to the order of the
queue. Network Communication: The operating system provides communication between
several users who are connected across a network. The communication can be a message passing
between users or file transfer.

Information Security: The efficiency of the operating system increases since it provides an
excellent security facility. Unauthorized access to a computer system or a network is prevented
by the operating system, thereby protecting the confidentiality and integrity of data. Authenticity
of the user is verified by the operating system with the help of a username and password pair.
Memory Management: This is a vital functionality of an operating system. Memory is allocated
to every program that has to be executed by the computer. This allocation is not practically
visible to the user but the user can find out the memory schedule devised by the operating
system. File Management: The operating system allocates memory to all the files and folders
created by the user. This is visible to the user when he works with it. The operating system
manages the creation of a file/folder, transfer of data from one device to another in the form.
