III. Methodology
A. Pre-lesson Presentation

 Checking of attendance
 Review on the equations (linear and quadratic)
 Answering of pre-test
B. Motivation
Present a linear equation and a quadratic equation. Let them differentiate the
two equations.
C. Lesson Presentation
Based on previous learning, ask them what are the considerations for an
equation to be quadratic. Discussion follows.
D. Group work
 The class will be divided into three groups. Ask them to answer activity
2 on page 12 and activity 4 on page 14.
 On the same group, ask them to answer activity 6 on page 15.
E. Generalization
Do activity 7 on page 16.
IV. Evaluation
Give 5 examples of quadratic equation written in general form.
V. Assignment
Do activity 8 on page 17. Teacher’s note:

A. Pre-lesson Presentation
Let the students recall factoring techniques on different expressions:
Factoring perfect square trinomial, difference of 2 squares, GCF, Quadratic
trinomial and others. Divide the class into four groups and give them expressions
to factor. Afterwards, let them discuss on the class what they had written on the
manila paper.

B. Motivation
Ask students how to solve for x given:
1. x + 3 = 0 2. x - 8 = 0
C. Lesson Presentation
Present the Zero Product property as a method to solve for a variable given
the factors of the equation.
D. Group work
Divide the class into 5. Ask them to answer activity 4 on page 31. Each
group will be assigned 2 numbers only.
E. Generalization
Do activity 5 on page 32.

Do activity 6 #s 1 and 2 on page 33.

A. Pre-lesson Presentation
Present examples of perfect square trinomial and let them factor. Ask them
whether it is easy or not to factor such expression.
B. Motivation
Afterwards, erase the constant and ask them what should be on the blank to
make the expression perfect?How did you come up with the number?
C. Lesson Presentation
Present the steps to be followed in solving quadratic equations by
completing the square on page 38 of the book. Present 1 example and let them
solve by following the steps.
D. Group work
Divide the class into 4. Each group will be given problems to be solved and
be presented on class. Group 1 will answer # 1, group 2 will have #4, Group 3
will have #6 and #9 for group 4 that can be found on page 42 Activity 5.
E. Generalization
State the steps in completing the square.

Anwer #s 7 and 10 of Activity 5 on page 42.

Present square roots of numbers. Ask them how to slve for the square roots.
B. Motivation
The student may only answer the positive roots of the given problems, lead
them to the answer of having negative roots.
C. Lesson Presentation
Ask the student on the general form of quadratic euation. Afterwards, ask
them for the value of a, b and c. Present the formula and let them solve for the
roots by substituting the values to the formula and simplifying.
D. Group work
The class will be divided into 2 groups. Group 1 will answer #s 1-4 of
activity 5 on page 52 while group 2 will answer #s 5-8 on page 52.
E. Generalization
1. How to solve quadratic equations by quadratic formua?

4. Create an equation consisting of quadratic trinomial and solve using quadratic
formula.
After they answer, the teacher will pick names of reporters per group per
number.
