Learn how to use the software

Through Tutorials
Use the online manual to learn how to use the software. The manual has tutorials which
teach you how to use the software to generate NC programs and related documents. The
manual can be accessed through the Start menu (Start -> Programs -> Cadem …) or from
the Help menu. Completing all the tutorials typically takes 1 day.

On your own
You can also try to bypass the tutorials and start using the software through the Wizard
interface, invoked through the icon. The wizard guides you through the steps involved,
and you can start making your own programs within 1 hour of installing the software.

The software is shipped with pre-made sample jobs. You can open these and view the tool
path simulation, generate NC programs or cycle times, etc.

Customize the software

Before using the software you must first customize it to suit your requirement.

Postprocessors
Postprocessors must be configured for your machines so that the NC programs generated
conform to your programming practices and the format acceptable by your machines. You
can contact Cadem or your vendor for help in making the posts.

List of postprocessors
The software has a list of postprocessors. You must customize this list so that only your
machines appear in it.

Tools and FS database

The database has a large collection of tools. You can customize the list – add any tools you
use that are not present in the list, delete tools that you do not require.
Cutting parameters in the database may not be what you normally use. You might want to
modify them to suit your requirement.
Get going
You can either use the Wizard or the regular interface. The Wizard is easier to use, but lacks
some advanced features like Single motions and Subprograms.
