How to install and set up TeraTerm Pro

Unpack the zipped file into the directory TeraTerm Pro

Double click the Setup icon

The next window will pop-up

Select the language mode to

English and press Continue.

It is possible that the Setup program

ask you to shut down running
previously installed TeraTerm
programs. Close them and select
Continue.

Select the path where you want to

have the program installed
(default).

The installation is finished and can

be started from the program files
menu.
Startup the program

The following screen will appear

Select serial and preferably com1 which is the standard serial port on our laptop.

After pressing the OK button the Terminal emulator screen remains, but is too small
so we have to make it fit to a full screen on your laptop.
Go to the Setup Menu and select Terminal

Checkmark the following box Term size = win size and press the OK button.
Go to Setup and select Window.

Checkmark in the following window Background and press the Reverse button once.

The background now becomes black which just looks cool

Select from the Setup menu the Font.

Select Size = 12
and press OK

You will notice that the size of the emulator screen will change.
Now you can move the position of the emulator screen to the far left top corner on
your laptop screen. Then move the cursor to the right bottom corner of the emulator
screen and with the left mouse button pressed drag the size of the emulator screen
until it fits the full screen.
Go again to Setup and select the correct settings for the serial port

Settings for: Settings for:

RTM Aq/As Multi RTM AqONE

RTM Aq 8/16/32/64 IDD Aq 32/64
RTM As S4
RTM Activion16
GTS All series
SS/ADI All series

After this the settings must be saved. However the .INI file can be a read only file.
Solution for this is to save it under a different name like “TERATERM1”, and later
rename the file to “TERATERM” after deleting the original TERATERM file.

When the TeraTerm emulator is now started it will immediately get the correct
settings.
