I. Ôn lại ấu trúc câu đơn, câu phức, câu ghép.


a) Identify sentence structures:
 Simple sentences: 5, 6, 10, 11, 16, 20
 Compound sentences: 2, 4, 8, 13, 15, 18, 19
 Complex sentences: 1, 3, 7, 9, 12, 14, 17
1. I did not know that this food can only be eaten by the staff.
2. She is innocent, so she is going to be free from punishment.
3. If you are not ready with the speech, it is better to let them know.
4. Either she comes home or I stay back at her place.
5. In the evening, I usually take a walk in the park.
6. The sun looks amazing today.
7. I remember the day that we met very well.
8. Nithi is not feeling well, yet she decided to go to work.
9. After they reach the hotel, they will let us know.
10. We are going to the park this afternoon.
11. I went to the grocery store to buy vegetables and fruits.
12. Although she suffers from back pain, she managed to win the competition.
13. I love my mom, but I cannot accept her fashion style.
14. She became the company’s president despite growing up poor.
15. Both Thy and Huyen will be given extra homework.
16. My pet cat has white and grey fur.

b) Combine the 2 sentences to form a compound sentence using


coordinating/correlative conjunctions:
Example: She lost her keys. She couldn’t get into her house.
 She lost her keys so she couldn’t get into her house.

 Although she is poor, she bought a new car.

II. Types of Dependent Clauses.


Identify the clause and its types:
1. You may sit wherever you like.
2. As she was not there, I spoke to her sister.
3. Will you wait till I return?
4. I fear that I shall fail.
5. I do not know what he wants.
6. I think you have made a mistake.
7. She did not go to school as she was sick.
8. Because she broke her leg, she couldn’t finish the race
9. Although I was not in the mood for a movie, I watched ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7’ with my
friend.
10. The teacher gave the students another worksheet as soon as they completed the
first one.
