The Elder Grove Warden

The Elder Grove Warden refers to a mythical or symbolic figure responsible for protecting and caring

Scene 01

Levis is working at the garden. Kids run to him with a storybook.

Emily: (showing storybook to Levis) Grandpa, look what I have found.

Levis: Oh dear, let’s see. (with a loving smile) Oh, this is a beautiful storybook.

Emily : Grandpa can you please tell me the story? (begging with interested hype)

Levis: Oh, it’s alright, kiddo. Let’s go.

Grandpa will come and sit down on the chair that is positioned on stage. Kids will sit down near
their grandpa.

Emily (with very much happiness to know what is in the story) Grandpa, What kind of story is
this?

Levis (grandpa)—this is a story that happened in the Stone Age. Let me tell you . (with a loving
smile,).

Once upon a time, there was a tribe. That tribe lives worshipping a humongous tree. Even the
leader of the tribe worshipped the tree with heartfelt faith. There’s one rule in the tribe. If
someone needs to be the king of the tribe, he needs to challenge the king and kill him to be the
new king. If the king loses the battle, his family will be exiled from the tribe; otherwise, the
challenger’s family has to be exiled from the tribe.
Lives—this is what happened for tens and thousands of years in this tribe (nodding his head,
saying yes while pointing his finger).

Jhon – It’s that it? (with a questionable face) I thought there is more (disappointed tone)

Levis: (with the loving smile) No, no, this is the start of the story.

Emily – grandpa tell me. I wanna know the story

The screen closes at the end of the scene. Grandpa and three children leave the stage.

Scene 02

Some of the tribe members are trying to make stone tools while the screen is opening. After
making the stone tool, the tribe member who made the tool starts to cut some meat out of a dead
pig.

Another tribe member tries to sneak from behind to steal the meat that got cut out. After seeing
this, the man who cut the meat starts to fight with each other for meat. While these two are
fighting, another tribe member comes from the left side of the stage and steals the meat of the
pig. He brings the dead pig to the right side of the stage and starts to eat. As soon as he starts to
eat. One greedy tribe member, who is one of the guards of the tribe, starts sprinting towards the
main stage, shouting from behind the auditorium. The tribe member who stole the pig meat got
scared and was ready to leave the meat. But the guard couldn’t make it on stage because he fell
down while trying to get on to the stage. The man, who got scared because of the guard, comes
to the edge of the stage to look at the guard. After seeing the guard on the floor in pain, he
decides to make a joke on him and starts to eat the meat.

While the tribe member is eating the pig meat, the king of the tribe is coming to the stage to
solve the problem between those two who are fighting still.

King: (King growls) What happened here?

One of the tribe members explains what happened, and the other member who starts fighting
tries to fight again. King surrendered those two members and gave guava to both of them.

King: Here, take this and don’t fight again.

Scene 03

One tribe member brings sticks to make a bonfire. Another tribe member brings pigs for their
evening party. After tribe members start to eat their food greedily, the tribe king arrives at the
bonfire party with his guards. While they enjoy the delicious pig meat, two of the unknown tribe
guards kill the tribe king’s guards to make sure that there are no guards left to protect the tribe
king because their warlord is coming to take over the tribe (the warlord is Shaul). The warlord
comes to attack the king. Tribe members got scared and were threatened by Warlord guards.

King—(with brave voice) Who are you?

Shaul: (with creepy laughter) HA HA HAA You will not be alive to see the morning sun again.
(pointing his weapon towards the king)

King: (with a brave voice tone but a bit confusion) Huh, do you challenge me??

Shaul: Yeah, I can see you already sweating (don’t care about being challenged to a king).

King: I accept Your challenge (brave deep voice).

After saying that, the tribe king takes the spear and worships the tree to get ready for the battle.
King and Shaul start to fight. The tribe is cheering for their king. Because of the unexpected
attack from Shaul, the king falls down. Shaul defeated the king by pointing his spear to the tribe
king’s chest.

King: who, who are you? (broken voice)

Shaul (reveals his face)

King: brother, you?! I killed you. How are you still alive???

(Screen closes)

Past story……….

When the screen opens, the scene of Saul and his mother being exiled.

After that, a tribe member who is excellent at fighting teaches Shaul how to fight, defend, and
attack. When the time came that Shaul got to the age where he could possibly fight with
someone, he and his fighting master fought to see Shaul’s progress. Shaul easily won.

The dead body of the king’s brother is on the floor.

King—(with a sad but stable voice looking at distance) You have challenged me. I won, but what
costs? I’m sorry, brother.

(screen closes)

(scene of the screen closes; fight between Shaul and tribe king continues.)
Shaul, are you ready to pay for what you did to my father? (with a challenging, brave voice)

King: I’m ready. (angry voice) Kill me now.

(Shaul kills tribe king, shouting loudly.)

(screen closes)

When the screen opens, shaul sitting on the throne.

Two tribe women are with king, helping to king

Tribe members are serving food for shaul. One tribe member brings small piece of food which
makes Shaul angry.

Shaul: (looks at angrily) You think this is enough for me? (hits the food)

Sahaul starts to rule the tribe cruelly. The tribe members have to serve food every day. Meat and
fruits are must to bring. If not they have to be punished by.

When shaul is going to punish him, two guards bring a man with his spear.

Shaul : who is this??

Guard – He said he wants to challenge you, (smile on face)

Shaul – (stand up from throne and walking towards to the audience) HA HA HA Do you really
wanna challenge me huh??

Prince : yeah I’m here for the revenge(steady voice)

Shaul – Revenge!? Revenge for what? (confusion)

Prince : You killed my father, and I want justice for his death, I’m gonna kill you and his soul
will rest with the trees. (angry but sad mood)

Shaul – HA HA So little prince going to challenge me?!

P : Are you ready for the fight?? (trying to get away from guards)

Shaul – yeah I’m ready for the fight. (pointing at the guards) leave him. I accept your challenge.
The fight start. Shaul and prince are fighting.

Shaul falls down, prince takes the advantage but he doesn’t want to kill. Because if he does, it is
the old tradition. Prince doesn’t want continue that tradition anymore.

Prince – (coming towards to the audience) you killed my father, but we can’t change the past.
You will live.

Take him to the dungeon (to the guards)

Shaul on his knees, defeated, tribe members making happy noices. Guards taking shaul away
from stage.

Prince starts to stepping towards to the throne. When the prince sit down, tribe members starts to
cheer. Mother of the prince puts her hand on his shoulder.

(Screen closes)

Grandpa – This is the story. When the time goes by human starts to evaluate good habits, that’s
how good kings rule.

Emily – But grandpa, the book is called “The Elder Grove Warden”. Then what’s up with the
story? It doesn’t match does it?

Grandpa – I’ll tell you that, the tribe lived under a huge tree like this. A forest god lived on the
tree. The name of that god is become the name of the book.

Emily – So did that god was in anywhere with anybody there???

Grandpa – (walking in to the closing screen while Smiling at Emily)
