1. This question paper contains 38 questions. All questions are compulsory.
2. This question Paper has 5 sections A, B, C, D and E.
3. Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each.
4. Section B has 5 questions carrying 2 marks each.
5. Section C has 6 questions carrying 3 marks each.
6. Section D has 4 questions carrying 5 marks each.
7. Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (4 marks each) with sub parts
of the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
8. There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice in 2 questions of 5 marks, 2
questions of 3 marks and 2 questions of 2 marks has been provided. An internal choice has
been provided in the 2 marks questions of section E.

24. The minute hand of a clock is 12 cm long. “The distance covered by the tip of the minute hand

25. In the figure, PQ is a chord of a circle and PT is the tangent at P such that ∠QPT = 60⁰.

SECTION - C
Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each
26. For going to a city B from city A, there is a route via city C such that AC ⊥CB. AC = 2x
km and CB = 2(x + 7) km. It is proposed to construct a 26 km highway which directly
connects the two cities A and B. Find how much distance will be saved in reaching city B
from city A after the construction of the highway.

30. A tent is in the form of a cone mounted on a cylinder of same base. The total height of the tent
is 25 m and the diameter of the base is 6 m. Height of the cone is 4 m. Find the cost of the
canvas required to make the tent, if the cost of canvas is Rs 14 per m2.

SECTION - D
Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each.
32. Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides
in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
33. Solve graphically the pair of linear equations: 2x + y = 8 ; x + 1 = 2y. Find the area of the
triangle formed by these lines and the x – axis.
34. The angle of elevation of an aeroplane from a point on the ground is 60°. After a flight of 15
seconds, the angle of elevation changes to 30°. If the aeroplane is flying at a constant height
of 1500√3 m, find the speed of the aeroplane in km/h.
OR
From a window of a house, 20 m high above the ground in a street, the angle of elevation
and depression of the top and the foot of another house on the opposite side of the street are
60° and 45° respectively. Find the height of opposite house and the distance between the two
houses. (Use √3 = 1.73)

Section E consists of 3 questions of 4 marks each.
Case study – 1
36. Two hotels A and B are at the ground level on either side of a mountain. On moving a
certain distance towards the top of the mountain two Huts are situated as shown in the figure.
The ratio between the distance from hotel B to Hut – 2 and that of Hut – 2 to the mountain
top is 3 : 5. The distance from Hut – 1 to the mountain top is 10 miles.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions. Show the necessary
working.
What is the ratio of the perimeters of the triangle formed by both hotels and Mountain
top to the triangle formed by both the huts and the Mountain top, if the distance from
Mountain top to Hut – 2 is 12 miles ? (2)

37. To conduct Sports Day activities, in the rectangular school ground ABCD, lines have been
drawn with chalk powder at a distance of 1 m each. 100 flowerpots have been placed at a

38. In Mathematics, relations can be expressed in various ways. The matchstick patterns
are based on linear relations. Different strategies can be used to calculate the number
of matchsticks used in different figures.
One such pattern is shown below. Observe the pattern and answer the following questions
