Objectives
- The basic objective of a Common-size Balance
Sheet is to analyse the changes in the individual
items of a Balance Sheet.
- It is also prepared to see the trends of di erent
items of assets, equity and liabilities of a Balance
Sheet.
-Lastly, it is prepared for the assessment of the
nancial soundness of the organisation and to
understand its nancial strate y.

Common sized income
statement
A statement that shows the percentage relation of
each income/expense to the Revenue from Operations
(Net Sales), is known as a Common-size Income
Statement. To express the amounts as the percentage
of the total, Revenue from Operations (Net Sales) is
taken as 100. One may prepare a Common-size
Statement of Pro t & Loss (Income Statement) for
di erent periods of the same rm or for the same
period of di erent rms. With the help of the
comparison between the Common-size Income
Statements of di erent periods, one can understand
the e ciency in earning revenues and incurring
expenses.

Objectives
-The basic objective of a Common-size Income
Statement is to analyse the change in individual
terms of the Income Statement.
-It is also prepared to study the trend in di erent
items of Incomes and Expenses.
- Lastly, it is prepared for the assessment of

Comparative balance
sheet
A comparative balance sheet is one of the many
nancial statements. It displays a company's nancial
position at two or more distinct points, typically from
one accounting period to another. It provides a one-on-
one comparison of the company's assets, liabilities,
and shareholders' equity.

Comparative income
statement
Statement of Pro t and Loss or Income Statement
shows the nancial performance that is Net pro t
earned or Net loss incurred by the company during the
year. Comparative Statement of Pro t and Loss is the
horizontal analysis of Statement of Pro t and Loss
which shows the operating results for compared
accounting period, Changes in data in terms of
absolute amount and percentage from one period to
another.
