Introduction of the Project Railway


Reservation System:
The "Railway Reservation System has been developed to
override the problems prevailing in the practicing manual
system. This software is supported to eliminate and in some
cases reduce the hardships faced by this existing system.
Moreover this system is designed for the particular need of
the company to carry out operations in a smooth and
effective manner.
The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors
while entering the data.
It also provides error message while entering invalid data. No
formal knowledge is needed for the user to use this system.
Thus by this all it proves it is user-friendly.
Railway Reservation System, as described above, can lead to
error free, secure, reliable and fast management system. It
can assist the user to concentrate on their other activities
rather to concentrate on the record keeping. Thus it will help
organization in better utilization of resources.
Every organization, whether big or small, has challenges to
overcome and managing the informations of Ticket, Train,
Customer, Seat, Payment. Every Railway Reservation

Advantages And Disadvantages of Railway


Reservation System

Advantages of Railway Reservation:


1) The online reservation system is a very good feature,
because standing in Queues all the time and jostling away
wasting your time is not the best thing to do, so the IRCTC
website does help a great deal to book your tickets.
2) Tatkal: This facility is a great boon, if you consider the cases
of emergency, but a lot of people do use it in a wrongful
manner and the entry of agents into the reservation system
is nothing less then a cancer for the whole system. The Site
goes down at exactly 8:01 a.m and you have about 0.1%
chance of getting a ticket, that too if your lucky.
On the other hand if you switch to an agent, first of all he
would promise you a CONFIRMED ticket in the very first
meeting. That in itself is a proof that there is a huge racket
going on somewhere.
3)PNR status: The status enquiry feature is a lot better than
before, when you had to dial your PNR number over and over
again to no avail. The website does give your status fairly
easily

Disadvantages of Railway Reservation System:


1)Technical Issues: System outages, glitches, or maintenance
problems can disrupt the booking process and inconvenience
passengers.
2)Dependency on Technology: The system relies heavily on
technology, making it vulnerable to cyber threats, hacking, or
other technological issues.
3)Limited Accessibility: Not all potential passengers may have
easy access to the internet or the required technology,
limiting their ability to use the reservation system.
4)Overcrowding during Peak Times: The system may struggle
to handle a high volume of users during peak travel times,
leading to slower response times or errors.
5)Impersonal Experience: The shift to online reservations
may reduce personal interactions, impacting customer
service and making it challenging for passengers who prefer
human assistance.

Conclusion Of Railway Reservation Project

In conclusion, while railway reservation


systems offer convenience and efficiency
in booking tickets, they are not without
drawbacks. Technical issues, dependency
on technology, limited accessibility for
some users, challenges during peak times,
and a potential reduction in personalized
customer interactions are factors that
need careful consideration
for an optimal and inclusive railway
reservation experience.
