Course Overview:
An introduction to the use of the computer in the business area. Introduce computer concepts
including a discussion of computer history, computer hardware and software, components of a
business information system, developing and information system, personal and shared
information
systems, the internet and the world wide web and information systems security. It includes an in-
depth study and practical experience with several microcomputer application packages such as
word processing, spreadsheets, database systems and graphics presentations.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should gain knowledge to:

 Analyze the purpose, components, and issues related to common business information systems
 Analyze the impact of business processes and information systems on an organization
 Explain the factors that influence how an organization selects information systems
 Describe how databases are used in business
 Compare different methodologies for information systems development
 Work with Microsoft Office applications
