Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Health 4

I. Objective: At the end of 40 minutes discussion, the grade 4 pupils will be able

to do the following with at least 75% accuracy:

a. Discuss the importance of keeping food clean and safe to avoid disease.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Food Safety Principles

Materials: Pictures, Cartolina, PowerPoint

References: Health Curriculum Guide pp. 221-222 ( H4N-Ihi-27)

B. Motivation

The teacher will prepare a game called " Word Search" and she will group the students
into two. The teacher will flash the card which contains a word and each group members will
take turns in encircling a certain word. When a member successfully encircles a word,
he/she will be given a prize.

C. Lesson Presentation

The teacher will discuss about food safety and the food safety principles.

Food Safety- refers to the practices that are observed during the handling, processing, and
distribution of food to ensure that contaminants that can cause foodborne illnesses are not
present.

Food Safety Principles:

1. Keep Clean

2. Wash hands properly before preparing and eating food.

3. Separate raw from cooked foods.

4. Cook food thoroughly particularly chicken.

5. Keep food at safe temperature.

6. Use clean and safe water in washing foods and cooking/ eating utensils.

7. Protect food from flies and pests that can transmit disease.
Activity.

Activity 1.

The pupils will stand if the sentence discuss the importance of food safety principles and if
not they will sit.

1. Do not keep food at safe temperature.

2. Separate raw from cooked foods.

3. Do not cook food thoroughly.

4. Use clean and safe water in washing foods.

5. Keep clean

Activity 2.

Answer these following questions in a 1 whole sheet of paper.

1. What is Food Safety?

2. What are the different food safety principle?

3. Why do we do food safety principle?

4. Choose 1 method of food safety principle that you want to try and why.

D. Generalization

What is Food Safety?

What should be done first before preparing and eating food?

What should we use in washing foods and eating utensils?

E. Application

The class will be divided into two groups which each group will do a role play that shows
food safety principle. The group also discussed the importance of the food safety principle.
IV. Evaluation

I. Write T if it belongs to food safety principle and F if it does not belong.
