DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
REGION VIII (EASTERN VISAYAS)
DIVISION OF LEYTE
I. OBJECTIVE:
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key
concepts of quadratic equations, inequalities and
functions, and rational algebraic equations.
B. Performance The learner is able to investigate thoroughly
Standard: mathematical relationships in various situations,
formulate real-life problems involving quadratic
equations, inequalities and functions, and rational
algebraic equations and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
C. Learning Represents a quadratic function using: (a) table of
Competency: values; (b) graph; and (c) equation. (M9AL-Ig-3)
Objectives:
At the end of the discussions, the learners are
expected to achieve with at least 80% proficiency level
in:
1. Representing quadratic function using
graph.
KBI. Improves knowledge and understanding in
representing quadratic function.
II. Subject Matter:
1. Topic: Representing Quadratic Function Using Graph
B. Lesson Proper:
a. Activity: Activity #2: “Have you ever
Wonder?”
𝒃𝒙 + c
if a > 0, then the parabola opens upward,
if a < 0, then the parabola opens downward.
How to represent quadratic functions using
a graph?
Step 1: Complete the table.
Step 2: Plot the points on a Cartesian plane.
Step 3: Connect the plotted points
Example: Sketch the graph of the given quadratic
function
y = 2 x 2 − 8𝑥 + 9
𝒃𝒙 + c

if a < 0, then the parabola opens downward.
Steps on how to represent quadratic functions
using a graph:
Step 1: Complete the table.
Step 2: Plot the points on a Cartesian plane.
Step 3: Connect the plotted points
Example: Sketch the graph of the given quadratic
function
y = 2 x 2 − 8𝑥 + 9
graph.
