Lesson Plan in Mathematics

Teacher: Rendelyn Burgos Grade 9
Level:
Teaching October 14, 2024 Learning Mathematics
Date: area:
Teaching 8:15am-9:00am Quarter: First
Time: 9:30am-10:15am

I. OBJECTIVE:
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts
of quadratic equations, inequalities and functions, and
rational algebraic equations.
B. Performance The learner is able to investigate thoroughly
Standard: mathematical relationships in various situations,
formulate real-life problems involving quadratic
equations, inequalities and functions, and rational
algebraic equations and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
C. Learning Represents a quadratic function using: (a) table of
Competency: values; (b) graph; and (c) equation. (M9AL-Ig-3)

Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, the learners are expected to
achieve with at least 80% proficiency level in
representing quadratic function using equation.
KBI. Improves knowledge and understanding in
representing quadratic function.
II. Subject Matter:
1. Topic: Representing Quadratic Function Using Equation

2. Reference/s: Math 9 Quarter 1- Module 15 pg. 3-22

3. Instructional Visual aid, Chalk and Chalkboard

Material/s:
III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary  Greetings
Activities:  Class prayer
 Setting classroom environment
 Checking of attendance
 Addressing student’s needs
 Classroom rules
 Checking of assignment
a. Review: Recalling previous lesson by asking questions.
b. Motivation: Activity: Reveal Me!
Direction: Arrange the letters to reveal the magic words.

1. NETRESPER
2. NIADMO
3. CNFTUOIN
4. EDGEER
5. TANIOQUE
6. ERNAG
B. Lesson Proper:
a. Activity: Activity #2: FACT OR BLUFF
Direction: Determine whether each function is quadratic
or not. Say FACT if the function is
quadratic and BLUFF if otherwise.

1.

2.
3.

4.

5.

6.

b. Analysis: 1. How were you able to determine if the given function

is quadratic?
2. Why do you think it is called quadratic function?

c. Abstraction: Quadratic function is any function of the form:

2
y=ax + bx+ c or 2
f ( x)=ax + bx+ c
where a, b and c are real numbers and a is not equal to
0. The highest exponent of the variable is 2, hence it is
called a second-degree function.
Direction: Write the equation in the form of y=ax 2+ bx+ c
And identify the values of a, b and c.
(Examples are taken from the previous activity.)
d. Application: Group Activity
Direction: Write the equation in the form of y=ax 2+ bx+ c
And identify the values of a, b and c.
Generalization Quadratic function is any function of the form:
2
y=ax + bx+ c or 2
f ( x)=ax + bx+ c
where a, b and c are real numbers and a is not equal to
0. The highest exponent of the variable is 2, hence it is
called a second-degree function.
IV.EVALUATION/ Direction: Write the letter of the correct answer.
ASSESSMENT
1.Which of the following is a second-degree equation?

2. Which of the following is a quadratic function?

3. In the quadratic function of the form 𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥2 + 𝑏𝑥 +

𝑐, which must not be equal to 0?

4. What are the value of a, b, and c in the equation 𝑦 + 5

= 2𝑥 − 3 x 2, if written in the form 𝑦 = 𝑎 x 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 ?

5. Express 𝑓(𝑥) = 3(x−7)2+ 5, in the form 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎 x 2 + 𝑏𝑥 +

𝑐?
V.ASSIGNMENT/
