The value of n is the slope

n= 0.32512

The value of K is found by taking the ln of the intersection with the y-axis

ln k = 19.7606

K = 381.1874 Mpa

2. Discussion

A) Calculation of n and k:
1. Conducting the Compression or Tensile Test
I began by performing a compression or tensile test on the material of interest. Stress (σ) and strain
(ϵ) data were recorded across a range of strains relevant to the forging process conditions.

2. Taking Logarithms to Linearize the Equation

This data allowed for a linear relationship to be established between ln(σ) and ln(ϵ), where the slope
of the line represents (n), and the intercept corresponds to ln(k).

3. Plotting to Derive a Straight Line

By plotting ln(σ) against ln(ϵ), I obtained a straight line:
- The slope provided the value of (n).
- The intercept gave ln(k), from which I determined (k)

B) Testing the Sample Under Tension and Compression

When the sample was tested under increasing compressive displacement, it showed a steady increase
in compressive stress, consistent with a typical stress-strain relationship. This response indicated that
the material could withstand compressive loads without immediate failure. However, the sample
fractured before reaching a necking point, indicating that it is brittle. This early fracture suggests the
material’s high hardness but limited ductility.
