1) Prove that A(x) = −2(x + 2)(x − 6)

2) Factorize B(x)
A(x)
3) Let F(x) =
(x−6)(x+4)
a. For what values of x, is F(x) defined?
b. Simplify F(x), then solve the equation F(x) = 2

 ABCD is a rectangle of area S1 , BLKC is a square of area S2
and BLM is a triangle right angled at L of area S3
 AB = 2x − 5 , CK = x + 2 and ML = 2x
a. Express S1, S2 and S3 in terms of x.
b. Verify that S2 + S3 − 2S1 = A(x)
c. Calculate x so that the sum of areas of BLKC and the BLM is equal to double the area of ABCD.
