o During this time, Tensions between Growing Jewish Communities and Arabs were increasing.
• In 1936, Palestinian Arabs revolted against British as a Result of Palestinian Arabs viewing themselves

o This revolt was suppressed by British with help from Jewish Militias.
• After revolt, British issued a White Paper that Limited Jewish Immigration into Palestine and called
for Establishment of a Joint Jewish-Arab State in Palestine within 10 years.
• During World War II, Many Jews escaping Europe from Holocaust were brought to Palestine illegally
(because of Immigration Permit) by Jewish Organisations.
• Unable to contain Arab and Jewish Violence, Britain withdrew its forces from Palestine in 1948,
leaving responsibility for resolving competing claims to newly created United Nations.
• UN presented a Partition Plan to create Independent Jewish and Arab States in Palestine which was

• In 1947, UN voted to establish separate Palestinian and Jewish States in the region dividing Palestine.

Implications of Rising Nitrous Oxide Emissions
• Intensified Global Warming: N₂O is around 300 times more effective than carbon dioxide
(CO₂) at trapping heat over 100 years.
• Threat to Ozone Layer: N₂O breaks down in the stratosphere, releasing nitrogen oxides that
damage the ozone layer.
• Challenge to Food Security: growing demand for food will likely lead to a further increase in
N₂O emissions, creating a conflict between food security and climate goals.
• Challenge to Paris Climate Agreement: The increasing level of N₂O emissions will pose a

• But Number of Emigrants Returning Home has also Gone-up.
• Preference for Destinations beyond Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries (Bahrain, Kuwait,
Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE) has grown from 10.8% in 2018 to 19.5% in 2023.
• Women Emigrants who have seen a rise in their numbers and proportion, up from 15.8% in 2018 to
19.1% in 2023.
• Muslims, who make up 26% of Kerala’s Population (2011 Census), make up 41.9% of State’s
Emigrants.
• Total Remittances to Kerala saw a significant increase of 154.9% since 2018.
