REALITY OR FICTION?

Research in 5 parts on the reality or fiction of the Nephilim.

Who were they? Are they the seeds of UFO or Fallen Angels?
Are they reappearing again? Are we prepared to face them?

The Nephilim: Reality or Fiction

Introduction

Most people have never heard about the Nephilim which is not surprising as they are being
mentioned only twice in the Hebrew Bible; in Genesis 6:4 and Numbers 13:33. Traditions
about the Nephilim are also found in a number of other Jewish and Christian writings. Yet,
many books have been written lately and numerous videos are available on u-tube
discussing the origin and purposes of the Nephilim.

Some believe they are the seeds of the angels, according to Genesis 6:1, 2; others believe
they are interdimensional beings communicating with human beings. More amazingly, for
centuries, writers have believed they are the direct descendant of Cain which father was
Lucifer.

This research intends to demonstrate through the new bio-technology, trans-humanism,

cloning and advanced modern DNA research that scientists are falling prey to the
spiritualistic venue offered to the antediluvians. They are returning to the very crime which
brought the flood and the destruction of the world at the time of Noah. This crime was
amalgamation or the mixing of the species, the new creation of Lucifer himself, the father of
rebellion. It is through amalgamation and the creating of human-animals beings which he
could claim his own creation that Lucifer and his fallen angels were able to manifest
themselves on the earth and create havoc before and after the flood. They are doing it
today!

Their purpose, before and after the flood, was to destroy the seed of Messiah to come; now
is to destroy the seed of the remnant of the woman of Revelation 12 and 14, the 144000,
the representant of His character. They are his primary target! And in doing this, to deceive
if possible the very elects! Will you be deceived? Will I?

1. Before the Flood: Amalgamation of Man and Beast

But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the
flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of
God, and caused confusion everywhere. God purposed to destroy by a flood that powerful,
long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before him. He would not sufter them to live
out the days of their natural life, which would be hundreds of years. It was only a few
generations back when Adam had access to that tree which was to prolong life. After his

disobedience he was not suffered to eat of the tree of life and perpetuate a life of sin. In

order for man to possess an endless life he must continue to eat of the fruit of the tree of
life. Deprived of that tree, his life would gradually wear out. {1SP 69.1} emphasis supplied.

2. After the Flood: Amalgamation of Man and Beast

Every species of animal which God created was preserved in the ark. The confused species
which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the
flood. Since the flood, there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the
almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men. {1SP 78.3}

3. Who is the author of amalgamation?

Not one noxious plant was placed in the Lord’s great garden, but after Adam and Eve
sinned, poisonous herbs sprang up. In the parable of the sower the question was asked the
Master, “Didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? How then hath it tares?” The Master
answered, “An enemy hath done this.” All tares are sown by the evil one. Every noxious herb
is of his sowing, and by his ingenious methods of amalgamation he has corrupted the earth

This research on the Nephilim is divided in 5 Parts and comments and a conclusion will be
offered to prove who the Nephilim really are.

Comments and Conclusion

Part I Research in the Hebrew Bible

a. Nephilim in the Hebrew Bible

Translations are according to the New International Version. Note that translations
frequently differ. In the King James Version of the Bible, "Nephilim" is translated as "giants"
in the following examples.

The term "Nephilim" occurs just twice in the Hebrew Bible, both in the Torah. The first is
Genesis 6:1-4, immediately before the flood at the time of Noah:

When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the
sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them
they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is
mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years. The Nephilim were on the earth in
those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and
had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

The second is Numbers 13:32-33, where the Hebrew spies report that they have seen
fearsome giants in Canaan:

And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They
said, "The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of
great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim).

We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."

b. Etymology

This subject also relates to the etymology and meaning of the phrase sons of God.

"Nephilim" (a°9°5}) probably derives from the Hebrew root npl (793), "to fall" which also
includes "to cause to fall" and "to kill, to ruin". The Brown-Driver-Briggs Lexicon gives the
meaning as "giants"[1] Robert Baker Girdlestone[2| argued the word comes from the
Hiphil causative stem. Adam Clarke took it as passive, "fallen", "apostates". Ronald Hendel
states that it is a passive form "ones who have fallen", equivalent grammatically to paqid

"one who is appointed" (i.e. overseer), asir, "one who is bound", (i.e. prisoner) etc.
c. Meaning: Arguments Based on Etymology

A possible connection with fallen-ness may exist in the fallen warriors of Ezekiel 32:27,
where a change to the Massoretic Text reading gibborim nophelim (a°7733 0°75: "fallen
mighty ones") would produce the reading gibborim nephilim. As the text stands "And they
shall not lie with the fallen mighty of the uncircumcised, which are gone down (yaradu 177°)

to the grave with their weapons of war:" but this could become the gibborim nephilim of
the uncircumcised.[7] In Genesis 6:4 they are described as "ancient warriors, the men of
renown".
In Numbers 13:32-33 they are a race of giants native to Canaan. The idea that there were
giants in Canaan when the Israelites arrived is found elsewhere, for example in Amos 2:9,
where Yahweh reminds the prophet that he "destroyed the Amorites before you, whose
height was as the height of cedar trees".[8] The two are tied together by Genesis 6:4, "the
nephilim were on the earth in those days (before the Flood), and also after," and most later
compositions and translations, including the Septuagint, therefore understand the
Nephilim to be giants.[9]

The nature of the nephilim is complicated by the ambiguity of Genesis 6:4, "the sons of God
joined with the daughters of humankind, who bore them children - they were the ancient
warriors, the men of renown." Richard Hess in The Anchor Bible Dictionary takes it as read
that the nephilim are the offspring,[10] as does P. W. Coxon in Dictionary of deities and
demons in the Bible[11]

d. Arguments from Culture and Mythology

It is sometimes claimed[12] that in Aramaic culture, the later term niyphelah refers to the
Constellation of Orion, and thus nephilim to the offspring of Orion in mythology. However
Brown-Driver-Briggs Lexicon notes this as a "dubious etymology" and "all very precarious",
[13] and no evidence is forthcoming that Orion had any offspring, either in Aramaic
astronomy or myth.

J. C. Greenfield mentions that "it has been proposed that the tale of the Nephilim, alluded to
in Genesis 6 is based on some of the negative aspects of the apkallu tradition". [14] The
apkallu (sages) were seven in number, legendary culture-heroes from before the Flood, of
human descent, but possessing extraordinary wisdom from the gods, and one of the seven
apkallu, Adapa, was therefore called "son of Ea"[15], despite his human origin. The
tradition of the Seven Sages became widespread in the 2nd and 1st millennia. However the
seven apkallu do not fall, nor have offspring, and are not sons of the fallen.

e. Genesis 6 - Two Interpretations

There are effectively two views [16] regarding the identity of the Nephilim, which follow on
from alternative views about the identity of the sons of God:

° Offspring of Seth — The Qumran (Dead sea) scroll fragment 4Q417 (4QInstruction)
contains the earliest known reference to the phrase "children of Seth", stating that God has
condemned them for their rebellion. (Nonetheless, a few commentators dispute the
interpretation of this reference.) Other early references to the offspring of Seth rebelling

from God and mingling with the daughters of Cain are found in rabbi Shimon bar Yochai,
Augustine of Hippo, Julius Africanus, and the Letters attributed to St. Clement. It is also the
view expressed in the modern canonical Amharic Ethiopian Orthodox Bible.
° Offspring of angels — A number of early sources refer to the "sons of heaven" as
"Angels". The earliest such references[17] seem to be in the Dead Sea scrolls, the Greek, and
Aramaic Enochic literature, and in certain Ge'ez manuscripts of 1 Enoch (mss A-Q) and
Jubilees[18] used by western scholars in modern editions of the Old Testament
Pseudepigrapha[19]. However, "Angels" in this context has sometimes been considered to
be a sarcastic epithet for the offspring of Seth who rebelled (see above). The earliest
statement in a secondary commentary explicitly interpreting this to mean that angelic
beings mated with humans, can be traced to the rabbinical Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, and it
has since become especially commonplace in modern-day Christian commentaries.

Others do not take either view, and believe that they are not historical figures but are
ancient imagery with questionable meaning. [20]

f. The Fallen Angels Interpretation

The New American Bible commentary draws a parallel to the Epistle of Jude and the
statements set forth in Genesis, suggesting that the Epistle refers implicitly to the paternity
of Nephilim as heavenly beings who came to earth and had sexual intercourse with
women.[21] The footnotes of the Jerusalem Bible suggest that the Biblical author intended
the Nephilim to be an "anecdote of a superhuman race".[22] Genesis 6:4 implies that the
Nephilim have inhabited the earth in at least two different time periods—in antediluvian
times "and afterward." If the Nephilim were supernatural beings themselves, or at least the
progeny of supernatural beings, it is possible that the "giants of Canaan" in Book of
Numbers 13:33 were the direct descendants of the antediluvian Nephilim, or were fathered
by the same supernatural parents.

Some Christian commentators have argued against this view, [23] citing Jesus' statement
that angels do not marry. [24] Others believe that Jesus was only referring to angels in
heaven. [25]

g. Second Temple Judaism

Main articles: Book of Enoch, Book of Jubilees, and Watcher (angel)

The story of the Nephilim is chronicled more fully in the Book of Enoch. The Greek,
Aramaic, and main Ge'ez manuscripts of 1 Enoch and Jubilees obtained in the 19th century
and held in the British Museum and Vatican Library, connect the origin of the Nephilim
with the fallen angels, and in particular with the egrégoroi (watchers). Samyaza, an angel of

high rank, is described as leading a rebel sect of angels in a descent to earth to have sexual
intercourse with human females:

And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born
unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw
and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among
the children of men and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto
them: 7 fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the
penalty ofa great sin.'
And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by
mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.’ Then swear they all
together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two
hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they
called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual
imprecations upon it...

According to these texts, the fallen angels who begat the Nephilim were cast into Tartarus
(Greek Enoch 20:2) [27], a place of 'total darkness’. However, Jubilees also states that God
granted ten percent of the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim to remain after the flood, as
demons, to try to lead the human race astray (through idolatry, the occult, etc.) until the
final Judgment.

In addition to Enoch, the Book of Jubilees (7:21-25) also states that ridding the Earth of
these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding the Earth in Noah's time. These
works describe the Nephilim as being evil giants.

Targum Pseudo-Jonathan identifies the Nephilim as Shemihaza and the angels in the name
list from 1 Enoch. [28] b Yoma 67, PRE22 and 1 QapGen ar ii 1 also identify the Nephilim as
the angels that fell. There are also allusions to these descendants in the Catholic
deuterocanonical books of Judith 16:6, Sirach, Sirach 16:7, Baruch 3:26-28, and Wisdom of
Solomon 14:6, and in the non-deuterocanonical 3 Maccabees 2:4.

In the New Testament Epistle of Jude 14-15 cites from 1 Enoch 1:9, which many scholars
believe is based on Deuteronomy 33:2.[29][30][31] To most commentators this confirms
that the author of Jude regarded the Enochic interpretations of Genesis 6 as correct,
however others[32] have questioned this.

h. The Descendants of Seth and Cain Interpretation

Despite the apparent prevalence of Enochic interpretations such as 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Philo
[33], in Second Temple Judaism, and at Qumran (e.g. Ogias the Giant), and Orthodox
Judaism has always taken a consistent line against the idea that Genesis 6 refers to angels

or that angels could intermarry with men. Shimon bar Yochai pronounced a curse on
anyone teaching this idea. Rashi and Nachmanides followed this. Pseudo-Philo, Biblical
Antiquities 3:1-3 may also imply that the "sons of God" were human.[34] Consequently,
most Jewish commentaries and translations describe the Nephilim as being from the
offspring of "sons of nobles", rather than from "sons of God" or "sons of angels".[35] This is
also the rendering suggested in the Targum Onqelos, Symmachus and the Samaritan
Targum which read "sons of the rulers", where Targum Neophyti reads "sons of the
judges".

Likewise, a long-held view among some Christians is that the "sons of God" who fathered
the Nephilim spoken of in the text, were in fact the formerly righteous descendants of Seth
who rebelled, while the "daughters of men" were the unrighteous descendants of Cain, and
the Nephilim the offspring of their union.[36] This view dates to at least the 3rd century
AD, with references throughout the Clementine literature[37], as well as in Sextus Julius
Africanus,[38], Ephrem the Syrian[39] and others (see below, "In other texts"). Holders of
this view [40] have looked for support in Jesus’ statement that "in the days before the flood
they (humans) were marrying and giving in marriage"[41]

Some individuals and groups, including St. Augustine, John Chrysostom, and John Calvin,
take the view of Genesis 6:2 that the "Angels" who fathered the Nephilim referred to
certain human males from the lineage of Seth, who were called sons of God probably in
reference to their being formerly in a covenantal relationship with Yahweh (cf.
Deuteronomy 14:1; 32:5); according to these sources, these men had begun to pursue
bodily interests, and so took wives of the daughters of men, e.g., those who were descended
from Cain or from any people who did not worship God.

This also is the view of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church [42], supported by their own Ge'ez
manuscripts and Amharic translation of the Haile Selassie Bible - where the canonical
books of 1 Enoch and Jubilees differ from western academic editions. [43] The "Sons of
Seth view" is also the view presented in a few extra-Biblical, yet ancient works, including
Clementine literature, the 3rd century Cave of Treasures, and the ca. 6th Century Ge'ez
work The Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan. In these sources, these offspring of Seth
were said to have disobeyed God, by breeding with the Cainites and producing wicked
children "who were all unlike", thus angering God into bringing about the Deluge, as in the
Conflict:

Certain wise men of old wrote concerning them, and say in their [sacred] books, that angels
came down from heaven, and mingled with the daughters of Cain, who bare unto them
these giants. But these [wise men] err in what they say. God forbid such a thing, that angels
who are spirits, should be found committing sin with human beings. Never, that cannot be.
And if such a thing were of the nature of angels, or Satans, that fell, they would not leave

one woman on earth, undefiled... But many men say, that angels came down from heaven,
and joined themselves to women, and had children by them. This cannot be true. But they
were children of Seth, who were of the children of Adam, that dwelt on the mountain, high
up, while they preserved their virginity, their innocence and their glory like angels; and
were then called ‘angels of God.’ But when they transgressed and mingled with the children
of Cain, and begat children, ill-informed men said that angels had come down from heaven,
and mingled with the daughters of men, who bare them giants.

i. Related Terms

In the Hebrew Bible, there are a number of other words that, like "Nephilim", are
sometimes translated as "giants":

e Emim — the fearful ones

e Rephaim — the dead ones
e Anakim — the [long|-necked ones
The nephilim were presumably destroyed in the Flood, but further giants are reported in
the Torah, including the Anakites (Numbers 13:28-33), the Emits (Deuteronomy 2:10),
and, in Joshua, the Repaints (Joshua 12:4). The Bible also tells of Gog and Magog, who later
entered into European folklore and of the famous battle between David and the Philistine
giant Goliath. (The King James Bible reports Goliath as "six cubits and a span" in height—
over nine feet tall, (over 2.75 m) (1 Samuel 17:4 KJV), but according to other unverified
texts, manuscripts, and accounts (the Septuagint, a Hebrew Bible (Greek), the 1st century
historian Josephus, and the 1st-2nd century BC Dead Sea Scrolls all give Goliath's height as
"four cubits and a span," approximately 2.00 m or about six feet seven inches).[2]

Anakim (or Anakites) are the descendants of Anak, and dwelt in the south of Canaan, in the
neighbourhood of Hebron. In the days of Abraham, they inhabited the region later known
as Edom and Moab, east of the Jordan River. They are mentioned during the report of the
spies about the inhabitants of the land of Canaan. The Book of Joshua states that Joshua
finally expelled them from the land, excepting a remnant that found a refuge in the cities of
Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod. The Philistine giant Goliath, whom David later encountered, was
supposedly a descendant of the Anakim.

The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants,
and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. And there we saw the Nephilim (the
sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like
grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.

It is more commonly suggested by traditional Jewish sources (such as the Midrash) that the
spies saw large and powerful inhabitants in Canaan and because of their own fears,

cowardice, and inadequate faith in Yahweh, saw themselves as grasshoppers in the eyes of
the Canaanites, whether they were actual "giants" or not.

Part II Research from Ancient Writings

A. Serpent Seed, Dual Seed

Serpent seed, dual seed or two-seedline is a controversial doctrine according to which the
serpent in the Garden of Eden mated with Eve, and the offspring of their union was Cain.
This belief is still held by some adherents of the Christian Identity theology, who claim that
the Jews, as descendants of Cain, are also descended from the serpent.[1][2] The idea has
also existed in several other non-racial contexts, and major proponents include Daniel
Parker (1781-1844),[3] William M. Branham (1909-1965)[4] and Arnold Murray (1929-

)-[5]
The doctrine that Eve mated with the serpent, or with Satan, to produce Cain also appears
in early Gnostic writings such as the Gospel of Philip (c. 350); however, this teaching was
explicitly rejected as heresy by Irenaeus (c. 180) and later mainstream Christian
theologians. A similar doctrine appeared in Jewish midrashic texts in the 9th century and in
the Kabalah. It is considered a false doctrine by mainstream Protestant denominations.
[6][7] Catholic theologians point to the fact that the Bible states that the original sin is that
of Adam and Eve eating a forbidden fruit. [8]

B. History

The Serpent Seed idea appears in a 9th century book called Pirke De-Rabbi Eliezer. [9]
Rabbi David Max Eichhorn, in his book Cain: Son of the Serpent, traces the idea back
through early Jewish Midrashic texts and identifies many rabbis who taught that Cain was
the son of the union between the serpent and Eve. [9] Some Kabbalist rabbis also believe
that Cain and Abel were of a different genetic background than Seth. This is known among
Kabbalists as "The Theory of Origins". [10] The theory teaches that God created two
"Adams"(Adam means MAN in Hebrew). To one he gave a soul and to the other he did not
give a soul. The one without a soul is the creature known in Christianity as the serpent. The
Kabbalists call the serpent Nahash (nahash means serpent in Hebrew). This is recorded in
the Zohar:

"Two beings [Adam and Nachash] had intercourse with Eve, and she conceived from both
and bore two children. Each followed one of the male parents, and their spirits parted, one
to this side and one to the other, and similarly their characters. On the side of Cain are all
the haunts of the evil species; from the side of Abel comes a more merciful class, yet not
wholly beneficial -- good wine mixed with bad."(Zohar 136)

In The Scofield Study Bible Scofield says, "The serpent, in his Edenic form, is not to be
thought of as a writhing reptile. That is the effect of the curse (Gen. 3:14). The creature

which lent itself to Satan may well have been the most beautiful as it was the most "subtle"
of creatures less than man".[11] Scofield's notes are silent as to the idea of Cain being the
serpent's seed, however in Genesis 6:2 his notes claimed that while it was an "error" to
believe that the offspring mentioned were the product of supernatural unions, it was
instead the intermarriage of the "godly line of Seth" with the "godless line of Cain" being
referred to.[12] Advocates suggest that modern Christian translations of the Old Testament
reduce emphasis on this concept, which they believe indicated the serpent had been an
upright, human-like creature.

The foundational scripture for the serpent's seed doctrine appears in Genesis 3:15, which
in the King James Version states "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and
between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
Advocates interpret this literally to mean that an offspring of the Serpent via Eve would
eventually lose in a mortal conflict with one of "her seed". Eve's son by Adam would have
presumably been called "Adam's seed" so it has been suggested, since a woman does not
naturally produce seed, that "her seed" is the first prophesy of an eventual human messiah
produced by means of a virgin birth. Adherents believe this sets up the serpent's seed as a
antitype to Jesus Christ.

Advocates also point out that in Genesis 4:1-2 it is mentioned only once that Adam "knew"
his wife, yet twice it is mentioned that she "bare" sons (see, heteropaternal
superfecundation). Advocates also believe an unmentioned act of infidelity is implied by
reproductive and marital curses placed on Eve in Genesis 3:16, that otherwise seem
inappropriate to merely eating a forbidden fruit. St. Paul seems to suggest as much in 2
Corinthians 11:2-3, where he may have implied that Eve was not a chaste virgin at the time
Adam first had relations with her: "For Iam jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have
espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear,
lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should
be corrupted...”

In the New Testament epistle of 1 John, ch. 3 v. xii it also states, "Not as Cain, who was of
that wicked one, and slew his brother." John also recorded in his gospel (8:44) that Christ
said, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him."
These passages, if taken literally as they are by advocates, seem to suggest that the New
Testament writers believed that Cain, the first murderer, was indeed the serpent's seed.

The doctrine that Eve mated with the serpent, or with Satan, to produce Cain, has been
taught in various forms for thousands of years, and it finds its earliest expression in Gnostic
writings (e.g., the Gospel of Philip) and especially in Manichaean doctrines; however, it was

soundly rejected by mainstream Christian theologians such as Irenaeus [13] in the second
century, and St. Augustine in the 4th century.

More recent variants are central to the beliefs of Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarian

Baptists founded by Daniel Parker. Other variations occur in the Christian Identity
movement. Some of these groups appear to use the doctrine as a rationalization for racist
beliefs. One of the largest, but non-denominational, groups that believe in a form of the
serpent seed doctrine is the followers of Branhamism who are documented to number over
1,500,000.

C. The Doctrine

The doctrine of the Serpent's Seed is followed by several minor Christian groups, the
followers of Branhamism, Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarian Baptists, and some of the
Christian Identity Movement among others. There are variations and differences between
these groups but the basic belief is that the Original Sin was an act of sexual intercourse
between Adam and Eve and, prior to that act, Eve was sexually seduced by the serpent and
committed sexual intercourse with the serpent; further, that Cain was conceived by the act
with the serpent and Abel by the act with Adam.
The main variations are on the aftereffects of the act. Some proponents believe that the
serpent was Satan himself. [14] Others believe that the serpent was an animal being
influenced by Satan. [15] Another key difference is in the descendants of Cain. Some believe
that the two lines remained separate and that eventually Cain's descendants were all
destroyed, others believe that Cain's descendants became completely mixed with the
descendants of Adam (meaning that all humanity is partially descended from Cain), [16]
and still others believe that the two lines remain separate to this day. [17] Finally others
disagree whether sex itself was the original sin [18] or if the original sin was sex for
pleasure rather than sex for reproduction. [19]

The following points and scriptures are largely agreed upon by all proponents to be the
basis of the Serpent Seed doctrine, although variations do occur as mentioned above.

° The Two Trees. The starting point of the discussion is usually on the two trees, the
Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen. 2:10). Proponents note the
difference between the "trees that grow out the ground" as opposed to "the trees in the
midst of the garden". This is used to indicate the two trees are not physical trees but
principles (e.g. ideas, rules).[20][21] They also point to Rev. 2:7 and Rev. 22:2, where the
Tree of Life is now in heaven to show that the two trees are not the same kind of trees that
grow on Earth but instead are something spiritual. Furthermore they point out that since
man was given the tree of knowledge by their choice it should still be visible somewhere in
the world today, which they claim is the overt sexuality of society.

° The Serpent, Gen. 3. The serpent in its original form was a creature capable of
speech, and it had not yet at that point been cursed to go "upon [its] belly"; thus some
proponents claim that the "serpent" was originally an upright human-like creature. [22]
Some proponents claim the serpent was intended to be used for manual labor and
therefore was made to look like a man but was not given a soul. [23] The chapter states that
the serpent "beguiled" Eve. In Early Modern English this word literally meant to seduce or
lead astray. [24]

° Sex. In the Bible, the sexual act is always obliquely referenced in Moses' writings. It
is always referred to discreetly, such as "knowing". Similarly in Proverbs 30:20, it states
"such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I
have done no wickedness." This is used as evidence that the trees and the fruit are just
another cryptic way to describe sex.

° The Punishment, Gen. 3. Proponents also point to the punishment to show that the
act was sexual. When Adam and Eve sinned they covered their genitals, not their mouths,
indicating they sinned not with their mouths but with their genitals. The punishment God
put on them also affected sexual reproduction: He caused the woman to have menstrual
cycles and to have increased pain in childbirth. God's curse also put enmity between the
descendants of Adam (e.g., Abel) and the descendants of the serpent (e.g., Abel's murderer
Cain). [25]

° The Birth, Gen. 4. At the birth of Cain, Eve said "I have gotten a man from the Lord."
Proponents claim that in the remaining two pre-Flood chapters, Adam's descendants are
called the "sons of God", not "men", [26] while the word "men" refers solely to the
descendants of Cain. Eve was also called "the mother of all living" (Gen. 3:20), but Adam
was not similarly called "the father of all living".

° The Offspring, Gen. 4. Cain and Abel were of different occupational backgrounds.
Abel tended the flocks and Cain tilled the ground. Proponents claim these traits were
inherited from their fathers; Adam was to rule over the animals and the serpent was
intended to tend the Garden of Eden. Another difference between them was that Abel,
being of pure birth, knew how to give a proper sacrifice to God. Cain, not being pure, did
not know how to give a proper sacrifice, he only knew he needed to give one, indicating he
was only inherited a portion of the knowledge that Abel had inherited. His impurity was
also displayed by his jealousy and murder of Abel, some proponents argue that these are
not traits God would have created in Adam and Eve and could not have been inherited from
them.

° The Two Lines of Descent, Gen. 4-5. Some proponents claim that because the two
lines of descent are recorded separately it indicates they were somehow different. It notes

how the developments in Cain's sides were all negative (e.g. Lamech's declaration in Gen.
4:23 that "I have slain a man to my wounding"[27]) But in Seth's line (Gen. 5) nothing is
mentioned of anything evil, and each patriarch "begat sons and daughters". Ultimately, the
two lines intermarry (Gen. 6:4: "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to
them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."), and God then
destroyed the world with a flood.[28] Proponents also point to the biological principal of
heterosis being evidenced in the offspring of the interbreeding of the two lines being giants.

° Christ. Ultimately Seth's line leads to Jesus, who was born of a virgin. Proponents
point to the fact that all humanity was impure and therefore incapable of "breeding" a
"pure" Son of God as the reason Christ had to be born of a virgin. Many proponents claim
that Christ was born in the same state that Adam was created: perfect and without sin.
They claim he had to be created by God in order for him to be pure and to be the "perfect
sacrifice". [15][29][30]

° Parable of the Tares. Regardless of the understanding of the Serpent Seed based on
the book of Genesis, many who believe in the doctrine hold that one of the most important
evidences for the doctrine comes from Jesus unfolding the revelation the Parable of the
Tares. In this parable Jesus confirmed there were two distinct children present in the world
until the end.

D. Christian Identity Movement

Adherents of the white supremicist theology known as Two-Seedline Christian Identity

hold that white people are descendants of Adam and are hence the chosen people of God.
The Jewish people are said to be descendants of Cain and thus of Satan. This belief was
developed by Wesley A. Swift, Conrad Gaard and William Potter Gale among others.[31]
The opposing faction is called One-Seedline Christian Identity and holds that all people are
descended from Adam, but only Aryans (here meaning Northern Europeans) are truly
God's people.[1][2][32][33]

E. William Branham's Teachings

William Branham was not the first to preach the doctrine of serpent seed, but he was one of
the major proponents of the doctrine in modern times. Branham was the most widely
known minister of the 20th century to actually teach serpent seed and much of its spread
can be attributed to him. William Branham taught that the fall of mankind resulted from
Eve having sexual intercourse with an upright Beast whom Adam had named 'Serpent'.
[34]

Because of his wide acclaim in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, Branham was
widely followed in Charismatic and Pentecostal movements and to a lesser degree by
Methodists and Baptists. His meetings, held all over the world, were attended by hundreds
of thousands of people which gave him a very large audience. This popularity and influence
gave him the best platform of all adherents of the serpent seed doctrine to spread it to the
masses. Although he did not regularly espouse the doctrine in front of his largest audiences
his belief in the doctrine was not kept secret and he did preach several sermons on it in
smaller meetings.

Branham was well aware of the potential connections of the doctrine to racism but he tried
to show that his belief was not racially targeted. ("He Cares, Do You Care?” 21 July 1963).
He tried to show that although he believed the doctrine he did not think it was a basis for
racism. [35]

F. In Fiction

The belief has turned up in other works of fiction, such as The Illuminatus! Trilogy. In it, a
character mentions in a memo pertaining to unusual conspiracy theories: The detective
who discovers the memo doesn't believe that conspiracy, but instead believes there is a
conspiracy of "[f]eeding him balderdash like that stuff about the Illuminati coming from the
planet Vulcan or being descended from Eve and the Serpent.

A. The Watchers by L.A. Marzulli

° Coast to Coast Radio Examiner

L.A. Marzulli, author of “The Alien Interviews,” wants you to understand that UFOs are real,
they’re burgeoning, and they’re not going away.

After listening to Marzulli on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, | had to see his video,
“The Watchers”. Marzulli makes a compelling case for interdimensional visitation as
opposed to extraterrestrial visitation. Knowing that he’s done a lot of research into ancient
texts and prophecies regarding the fallen angels and the demonically charged super
soldiers, I was curious to know what he thinks about present-day UFO phenomenon.

“The Watchers” asks a number of questions. What proof do you have that these UFOs are
truly not of this world? Are people interacting with aliens NOW? What is the difference
between orbs and crafts? Why are people so willing to believe that these entities want to be
our friends? And perhaps most important - what ELSE is happening?
Marzulli isn’t your run of the mill researcher spouting this theory and that. While there are
hundreds of UFO sightings across the planet every month, the percentage of people who
report actually seeing one is still relatively small. However, Marzulli and his wife have
actually had a UFO encounter and he describes it in “The Watchers”.

Marzulli says that there’s just too much compelling evidence, making it impossible for
anyone NOT to admit that these craft and orbs are not of this world. The governments of
the UK, France, Mexico, Belgium, Brazil and others are all releasing evidence, disclosing
their findings. And as for proof, Marzulli points to Edgar Mitchell, a former Apollo astronaut
who says that he’s seen UFOs, Roswell was real, there WAS a crash, bodies WERE recovered
and our government has covered it all up.

One important question that “The Watchers” asks is why do people assume these beings
are benevolent? The video has some detailed footage of cattle mutilations that certainly
can’t be called a ‘friendly encounter’. And what of the human mutilations that have been
reported? The abductions and sexual experimentation?

Marzulli warns that, because we have no previous experience with this paradigm, we’re
quick to assume that these entities are just here to study us and learn about us. And he says
we have television, movies, books and video games to blame for it. The media all make
aliens appear sweet and friendly but there’s overwhelming evidence pointing to the
contrary.

And interview with Dr. Roger Leir, included in the video, brings this point home with
alarming clarity. Leir has surgically removed some 17 implanted ‘devices’ from people who
claim to be alien abductees. And what he’s learned from these devices is scary as hell. While
most people assume that these people have been implanted for the benevolent purpose of
being able to track us and learn more about our habits, Leir believes, after careful research,
that these devices have a far more sinister reason for being.

In “The Watchers,” Marzulli describes and explains the classic alien abduction scenario in
frightening detail, Leir provides footage of the surgical removal of alien implants, and we
see examples of cattle mutilations that will make your skin crawl. For those of you who
think E.T. Is going to step out of the ship with his arms open wide and his heart light
glowing, think again. There’s just too much evidence to the contrary. Marzulli’s arguments
are just too compelling NOT to consider that these entities are anything but inter-
dimensional beings, the Fallen Angels, and they don’t necessarily want to be our friends.

° The guest on Wednesday night's Coast to Coast radio was L.A. Marzulli and the topic
of conversation was ancient astronauts, fallen angels and interdimensional beings.
Marzulli, a frequent and very popular guest and author of “Politics, Prophecy & The
Supernatural”, and “The Alien Interviews: Conversations with people who experienced UFO
contacts”, has spent years researching ancient texts and believes that aliens and
interdimensional beings are two different entities.

The ancient alien theory is that we were visited here, thousands and thousands of years
ago, by a race of extraterrestrials. These aliens genetically manipulated early man and they
were also the creators of all of those bizarre megolithic structures whose construction we
can't explain otherwise. But the alternative explanation would be that these structures
were not created by aliens but by interdimensional beings.

Marzulli believes, based on his research into ancient texts, that there are three levels of
angels. Those at the highest level are the Higher Power's powerful guard. The second level
are the Higher Power's soldiers. And those on the third level are the fallen angels. He
believes that it was these fallen angels who first gave man the knowledge for these ancient
megolithic structures and sudden explosions of technology. And that it's also these fallen
angels who mated with human women, creating a race of hybrids known as the Nephilim.

Nephilim would explain the gigantic structures because, according to ancient texts, they
were 30 to 35 feet tall, which would make it possible for them to move huge stones, 60 feet
in length, and weighing hundreds and hundreds of tons.

Marzulli explains that most people point to aliens because of the physical evidence of their
existence and that we believe angels are spiritual, not physical, beings. On the contrary
though, he points to textual evidence that suggests that fallen angels were interdimensional

beings, capable of interacting physically with their surroundings. For example, in the book
of Daniel, an angel brings a meal to Daniel while he is in the lion's den and sits down to eat
with him.

Marzulli doesn't discount the possibility of alien, or extraterrestrial, hybrids. He merely

suggests that we have been visited by both types of entities. And he cites increasing reports
of hybrid sightings as proof that extraterrestrial and interdimensional beings are getting
closer and closer to disclosure.

° The Vatican has come forward saying they would welcome the opportunity to
embrace extraterrestrials. The United States has appointed an E.T. Embassador. Mexico,
France, Belgium, and many other countries are disclosing the facts they've accumulated on
UFO and alien encounters that have occurred within their borders. And former Apollo
astronaut Edgar Mitchell has gone on record on Karrang radio and the Sean Hannity show
stating that he's seen UFOs, Roswell was real, there WAS a wreck and bodies were
recovered and our government is covering it up.

It's time to admit - UFOs are real, they're burgeoning and they're not going away. “The Alien
Interviews”, by A.L. Marzulli, is a call to action for people around the world, telling us it's
time to start considering that these alien visitors, whether extraterrestrial or
interdimensional, may just be malicious and malevolent, not the friendly little guys with the
big eyes and even bigger hearts that they've been trying to sell us in the movies and on the
TV.

What I liked best about “The Alien Interviews” is that Marzulli doesn't just quote obscure
people and resources. These are actual interviews with people who've had personal
experiences with UFOs and aliens. Seventeen people in all tell their side of the story,
presented with their own feelings and beliefs. Marzulli only asks the questions - they do
the answering. And he does no editorializing, leaving it up to the reader to decide for
themselves what they want to believe or disbelieve.

“The Alien Interviews” includes an interview with Joseph Jordan, the MUFON State Section
Director in Brevard County, Florida, an interview with Ricky Sorrell, a witness to the
Stephenville, Texas mass UFO phenomenon, an interview with Whitney White-Ashley, a
reporter for the Empire-Tribune newspaper in Stephensville, and an interview with Chuck
and Stan Mosser who have lost several cattle to the cattle mutilation phenomenon. In an
interview with Lynne Dickie she explains how to open yourself up and be more open to
alien visitation and what to do to stop an alien abduction. Marzulli also interviews Jesse
Marcel, who may be the last remaining survivor who actually witnessed, first hand, the
events that occurred at Roswell in 1947, and there's a large section of the book devoted to
information on the Mothman.

One of the most intriguing interviews is one conducted with Dr. Roger Leir. Leir has, to
date, surgically removed some 17 implants from alien abductees and his findings are quite
remarkable. These tiny implants are made of a metal not found on this planet and their
purpose seems to be not to track us as originally assumed, but to alter our very DNA.

“Politics, Prophecy & The Supernatural”, and “The Alien Interviews: Conversations with
people who experienced UFO contacts” believes that ancient prophecies are beginning to
unfold and that the New World Order is on the verge of becoming reality. He bases this
belief on three important prophecies:

The Book of Revelations tells us that at some point we will have to take the mark of the
beast if we want to be able to buy, sell, or trade. Marzulli says that, if someone told us this
100 years ago, we'd think they were crazy. But we already have the technology and they've
already started micro-chipping people in Mexico.

Even more bizarre are the alien implants that are being removed from people by Dr. Roger
Leir, author of 'The Aliens and the Scalpel’. Leir has so far removed over 17 implants from
victims of alien abduction and he believes that these devices have been implanted for the

The second prophecy Marzulli refers to is “Men will seek death but not be able to find it.”

And the third prophecy that Marzulli speaks of is states “It will be like the days of Noah in
the last days when Jesus returns.” Marzulli believes that “days of Noah” is referring to
Noah's age - over 400 or 500 years old.
Working with these 3 prophecies, Marzulli believes that our government will sell us on
taking the mark of the beast - the micro-chip - by telling us that not only will it help us buy,
sell and trade more efficiently, but that it will also extend our lives. And once these chips
are implanted, The New World Order will be able to take over and control the entire
population of the world, making our lives so miserable that we will 'seek death' - but be
unable to find it.

Hybrids — Nephilim and the End Times

I hope you find this picture as disturbing as I do. It is a still from the soon to be released
movie, Splice [released since 2010]. Look at it closely. It should send chills down your
spine, it did mine. This was sent to me by several people who visit this BLOG daily...
Centaurs, minotaurs, nymphs, fawns, are all familiar images from Greek mythology, but was
it just mythos? Were these so-called fictious creatures in fact the by-product of the fallen
angels who created the Nephilim, by cohabiting with the women of earth? We know that
the human genome has been traced. I personally interviewed a low-level technician from
AMGEN, for my first book on in the Nephilim series.

That was over ten years ago and I’m sure he didn’t know half of what was going on in
secret, underground labs. What, you don’t think they exist? You don’t believe a scientist
who embraces Darwinism, and believes that there are no absolutes wouldn't be tinkering
gleefully away, with the building-blocks of life, ite. DNA; and like a demented Gepeto,
working late into the night, taking some DNA from a chimpanzee and splicing it into the
DNA of a human, in an attempt to make the perfect super soldier. The movie Splice.... Is this
more propaganda or just entertainment? Is it sci-fi, or art imitating life. What if you saw a
hybrid like the one pictured above? How would you react? Would you shun it? Would you
embrace it? The big question that films like these raise, and I pointed this out last year

when I saw District 9, and also Avatar, is that it explores what is human? When the
protagonist in District 9 slowly morphs into what he hates, that of the alien prawn, is he
still human?

When the protagonist in Avatar becomes one of the Navi, is he still human? What is the
soul? Where does it reside? What is human? We are told that when the Israelites entered
the promised land they were to wipe out certain tribes and burn everything. I believe the
mandate came because there was a second incursion of fallen angels, and that much of the
same thing that we find in Genesis 6 was happening again thousands of years later. There
are those who do not believe in a second incursion, and thus do not believe that the fallen
angels are conducting a breeding program today. I couldn’t disagree more with them, as
theirs is a truncated view, in my opinion. But back to what is human.

As I mentioned, when the Israelites entered the promised land they were told to wipe out
certain inhabitants that were there. I believe it was because there were Nephilim, and
chimera’s inhabiting the land. I believe that the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim,
resulting from the flood, are what we call demons. To me a film like this is another indicator
that we are fast approaching the Time of Jacob’s Trouble. In other words, this mimics what
happened in the Days of Noah. I’m willing to bet, the hybrid is destroyed in the movie, but
perhaps it has an offspring and that will set up the sequel. In closing todays post, God is
allowing man to slip as far into the abyss as he is willing to go, just look around at what is
happening. A 7.2 earthquake yesterday, volcano’s erupting, wars and rumors of wars, oil
spills, economic uncertainty and finally movies that blur the line of our humanity. Is this
more business as usual, or are these events pointing to His return. For those of us who have
eyes to see, He can’t be far off...

B. Dr. Thomas Horn - Nephilim Stargates

One myth from the history of every great civilization spoke of beings descending from
heaven and using human and animal DNA to create giant offspring. Rabbinical authorities,
Septuagint translators and early church fathers understood this as a factual record of
history. The phenomenon began with the “Watchers” who spawned “Nephilim” resulting in
judgment from God. The ancients also knew Bible passages that predict the Nephilim will
return when Iraq and Iran are invaded and destroyed. Is this prophecy about to be fulfilled?
Is man, in his rush to play god through biological weapons, biotechnology, and genetic

Tom Horn holds no punches in describing what he believes, in light of the Bible, are the
plans of these beings. There are no flights of fancy here, only vividly frightening nightmares
that few wish to accept as being real. We have a hard time comprehending how evil, evil
really is. So, instead of accepting the truth, we tend to dismiss it out of hand. But, it's hard to
dismiss what is actually taking place when it is placed directly in front of you as it is here.
No one can deny that current events are rapidly leading us to an extraordinary and
potentially cataclysmic event. And, if Tom Horn is right, then surely we are living in the Last
Days as described in the Word of God.

3. Forbidden Gates: The Spirit Behind Transhumanism!

This is an excellent article by Dr. Tom Horn and his wife on the history behind the current
trends in the re-engineering of man into Neo Adam. This is the trans-humanist dream but
in reality is the nightmare of Genesis 6, the antediluvian world. A world of corrupt cross
breeding of species and Neo Nephilim Adam is no longer human.

The secret government has been engaging in cross species cloning experiments for the past
few decades. For eg. the Super Soldier program. They have been experimenting on genetics
for re-engineering the human race as the next stage of human ‘devolution’. Life extension
technology, cloning and many more high technologies have been kept from the public.
There are talks ofa life span of 120 years with a physical body of a 30-40 year old.
4. Transhumanism

English theologian George Hawkins Pember, in his 1876 masterpiece, Earth’s Earliest Ages,
analyzed the prophecy of Jesus Christ that says the end times would be a repeat of “the
days of Noah.” Pember outlined the seven great causes of the antediluvian destruction and
documented their developmental beginnings in his lifetime. The seventh and most fearful
sign, Pember wrote, would be the return of the spirits of Nephilim, “the appearance upon
earth of beings from the Principality of the Air, and their unlawful intercourse with the
human race.”

Jesus Himself, in answering His disciples concerning the signs of His coming and of the end
of the world, said it would be “as the days of [Noah] were” (Matthew 24:37). The
implication is, just as it was before the Flood when the spirits of Nephilim were powerful
upon earth (Genesis 6:4), mankind would experience an end-times renaissance of the
influence of these entities. From Scripture we are made to understand the purpose of this
latter-day wave of supernaturalism includes deception (2 Timothy 3:13), and the effect
upon mankind would be so successful that heresy and delusion would become firmly
entrenched—even within institutionalized Christianity. In writing of this scenario, Paul
prophesied to Timothy that “in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1).

Based on contemporary developments, the foretold increase in demonism and its influence
within secular and religious society is rapidly unfolding this century—abruptly,
dramatically, and suspiciously. In a recent edition of Prophecy in the News magazine,
biblical scholar Gary Stearman agreed, stating in disturbing language how the
manifestation of these powers are quickening now because the world is under conditions
“in which the influence of God’s Holy Spirit is diminishing.” |i] This is apparent not only in
metaphysics, but within science and technology, where genetic engineering and trans-
humanist aspirations seem literally hell-bent on repeating what the Watchers did in giving
birth to the spirits of Nephilim as in the days of Noah.

5. The First Time Nephilim Appeared on Earth

As far back as the beginning of time and within every major culture of the ancient world,
the astonishingly consistent story is told of “gods” who descended from heaven and
materialized in bodies of flesh. From Rome to Greece—and before that, to Egypt, Persia,
Assyria, Babylonia, and Sumer—the earliest records of civilization tell of the era when
powerful beings known to the Hebrews as “Watchers” and in the book of Genesis as the
b’nai ha Elohim (“sons of God”) mingled themselves with humans, giving birth to part-
celestial, part-terrestrial hybrids known as “Nephilim.” The Bible says this happened when
men began to increase on earth and daughters were born to them.

When the sons of God saw the women’s beauty, they took wives from among them to sire
their unusual offspring. In Genesis 6:4, we read the following account: “There were giants
[Nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in
unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men
which were of old, men of renown.”
When this Scripture is compared with other ancient texts, including Enoch, Jubilees,
Baruch, Genesis Apocryphon, Philo, Josephus, Jasher, and others, it unfolds to some that the
giants of the Old Testament such as Goliath were the part-human, part-animal, part-angelic
offspring of a supernatural interruption into the divine order and natural development of
the species. The apocryphal Book of Enoch gives a name to the angels involved in this
cosmic conspiracy, calling them “Watchers.” We read:

And I Enoch was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers
called me—Enoch the scribe—and said to me: “Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go,
declare to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high heaven, the holy eternal place,
and have defiled themselves with women, and have done as the children of earth do, and
have taken unto themselves wives: Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth: And ye
shall have no peace nor forgiveness of sin: and inasmuch as they delight themselves in their
children [the Nephilim], The murder of their beloved ones shall they see, and over the

destruction of their children shall they lament, and shall make supplication unto eternity,
but mercy and peace shall ye not attain. 1 Enoch 10:3-8

According to Enoch, two hundred of these powerful angels departed “high heaven” and
used women (among other dna providers) to extend their progeny into mankind's plane of
existence. The Interlinear Hebrew Bible (ihn) offers an interesting interpretation of
Genesis 6:2 in this regard. Where the King James Version of the Bible says, “The sons of God
saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair,” the ihn interprets this as, “The [b’nai ha
Elohim] saw the daughters of Adam, that they were fit extensions” (emphasis added). The
term “fit extensions” seems applicable when the whole of the ancient record is understood
to mean that the Watchers wanted to leave their proper sphere of existence in order to
enter earth’s three-dimensional reality. They viewed women—or at least their genetic
material—as part of the formula for accomplishing this task. Departing the proper
habitation that God had assigned them was grievous to the Lord and led to divine
penalization. Jude described it this way: The “angels which kept not their first estate, but
left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the
judgment of the great day” (Jude 6).

Besides apocryphal, pseudepigraphic, and Jewish traditions related to the legend of the
Watchers and the “mighty men” born of their union with humans, mythologized accounts
tell the stories of “gods” using humans and animals to produce heroes or demigods (half-
gods). When the ancient Greek version of the Hebrew Old Testament (the LXX or
Septuagint) was made, the word “Nephilim”—referring to the part-human offspring of the
Watchers—was translated gegenes, a word implying “earth born.” This same terminology
was used to describe the Greek Titans and other legendary heroes of part-celestial and
part-terrestrial origin, such as Hercules (born of Zeus and the mortal Alcmena), Achilles
(the Trojan hero son of Thetis and Peleus), and Gilgamesh (the two-thirds god and one-
third human child of Lugalbanda and Ninsun).

These demigods were likewise accompanied in texts and idol representation by half-animal
and half-human creatures like centaurs (the part-human, part-horse offspring of Apollo’s
son, Centaurus), chimeras, furies, satyrs, gorgons, nymphs, Minotaurs, and other genetic
aberrations. All of this seems to indicate that the Watchers not only modified human dna
during the construction of Nephilim, but that of animals as well, a point the Book of Enoch
supports, saying in the seventh chapter that the fallen angels “sinned” against animals as
well as humans. Other books such as Jubilees add that this interspecies mingling eventually
resulted in mutations among normal humans and animals whose “flesh” (genetic makeup)
was “corrupted” by the activity, presumably through crossbreeding (see 5:1-5; 7:21-25).

Even the Old Testament contains reference to the genetic mutations that developed among
humans following this time frame, including “men” of unusual size, physical strength, six

fingers, six toes, animal appetite for blood, and even lion-like features (2 Samuel 21:20,
23:20). But of all the ancient records, the most telling extra-biblical script is from the Book
of Jasher, a mostly forgotten text referred to in the Bible in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18.
Jasher records the familiar story of the fall of the Watchers, then adds an exceptional detail
that none of the other texts is as unequivocal about, something that can only be understood
in modern language to mean advanced biotechnology, genetic engineering, or “transgenic
modification” of species. After the Watchers had instructed humans “in the secrets of
heaven,” note what Jasher says occurred: “[Then] the sons of men [began teaching] the
mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord”
(4:18).

The phrase “the mixture of animals of one species with the other” does not mean Watchers
had taught men hybridization, as this would not have “provoked the Lord.” God made like
animals of different breeds capable of reproducing. For example, horses can propagate with
other mammals of the equidae classification (the taxonomic “horse family”), including
donkeys and zebras. It would not have “provoked the Lord” for this type of animal breeding
to have taken place, as God Himself made the animals able to do this.

If, on the other hand, the Watchers were crossing species boundaries by mixing
incompatible animals of one species with the other, such as pig dna with humans like science
is doing today, this would have been a different matter and may cast light on the numerous
ancient stories of mythical beings of variant-species manufacturing that fit perfectly within
the records of what the Watchers were accomplishing.

Understandably, this kind of chimera-making would have “provoked the Lord,” and raises
the serious question of why the Watchers would have risked eternal damnation by
tinkering with God’s creation in this way. Yahweh had placed boundaries between the
species and strictly ordered that “each kind” reproduce only after its “own kind.” Was the
motive of the Watchers to break these rules simply the desire to rebel, to assault God’s
creative genius through biologically altering what He had made? Or was something of
deeper significance behind the activity?

It would be nice to be an artilect, a god, a supremely powerful omnipotent being. I could be

such a creature [soon.] It’s possible. It’s not an unattainable dream.... All I can do here is

C. Gary Stearman and the Valley of the Giants

Rephaim [Nephilim]: Genetic Monsters, Mutants

A non-human race once lived upon earth. They came to be called the Rephaim [Nephilim].
They were genetic monsters, mutants whose end is darkness, just as was their society upon
earth. Will JCVI's [/. Craig Venter Institute, which created the entirely new life form
nicknamed “Synthia”] work result in another such atrocity? —Gary Stearman, Bible scholar

Is there a person in the civilized Western world who has not heard the story of Goliath, the
massive warrior slain by David? Even in our post-Christian era, the unbelieving among us
acknowledge the giant, but simply regard the famous narrative as a harmless myth.
However, the story bears the unmistakable stamp of authenticity and historical truth.

We know that David and his kingdom were real. His many adversaries were also real.
Giants, too, were real. As we have stated in the past, the Bible gives us an authoritative
history, both of the giants as individuals, and the reason for their origin.

In the past, we have studied the documentary history of their existence as a way of
understanding the workings of Satan and his servants. As we revisit this study, we shall
attempt to place the reality of the giants into the context of prophetic Scripture. Goliath of
Gath, the most famous of the ancient giants, was around 12 feet tall.

To get some perspective on his size, try to imagine him standing in your living room. If he
tried to stand up in an ordinary home, his bronze helmet would punch through your ceiling.
From the chest up, he would be in your attic. Better yet, imagine him trying to go through a
seven-foot doorway to get to the next room. What begins as a comical thought soon looms
into a frightening image.

You'd be looking for a way to get out of the house! But remember, as the Bible measures
giants, Goliath was probably on the short side. Still, he was quite big enough for the
Philistines to put him forward as their champion, and as strong as he was big. Based upon a
shekel of .457 ounces, his coat of armor weighed about 143 pounds! At the tip of his huge
spear, the head alone weighed 17 pounds. By the time he was loaded down with a brass
helmet, leg and body armor, boots, sword and shield, he had to be carrying something over
200 pounds of extra weight. Yet he was still quite able to fight. His enemies trembled with
fear.
Only little David, with his faith, his five smooth stones and slingshot, would come forward
to fight Goliath. Just as we believe the reports of David and his life, we regard Goliath as an
acknowledged historical character. Furthermore, he was one of many like him. They were

called the Anakim. They were the ancient residents of the Middle East. Apparently, they and
their ancestors built many major architectural sites, renowned for their colossal size.

And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron,
from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of
Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in
Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that
the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to
their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war. Joshua 11:21-23.

The Anakim was only one tribe in a race of giants. Joshua destroyed the tribe as he took the
Land for his people. It must be remembered that in the incident of the 12 spies, their
original fear of entering into the Promised Land stemmed from their dread of the giants.
These monsters belong to a cursed class of beings called in Scripture, the Rephaim.

1. Og of Bashan

In a past study, we referred to the most noted of the breed, known as Og of Bashan. In
Deuteronomy 3:11, his iron bed was described as being 9 cubits in length. Depending upon
the cubit used for the measurement, this would make his bed between 13.5 and 16.5 feet in
length! Using a nominal figure, that would come to approximately 15 feet! Og could easily
have been 14 feet tall — a full two feet taller than Goliath. As we noted, Og was apparently
the last of the giants, or to put it more accurately, the last leader of a dominant culture of
giants:

All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of
the remnant of the giants: [Heb.,, Rephaim] for these did Moses smite and cast them out.
Joshua 13:12.

Here, Og’s kingdom is the location of the last of the Rephaim. Later in this article, we shall
see that he is a symbol of something much larger than himself. Apparently, after his defeat,
the power of the giants became somewhat dissipated. Yet, as we have already noted, his
progeny continued to trouble Israel all the way down to the kingdom of David, about 400
years later. The Philistines, in particular, were fond of using giants as fearful fighting
machines. After David became king, he fought a war with the Philistines, in which not one,
but four giants were defeated. As told in II Samuel 21:15 - 22, the four giants were slain in
succession by heroes who sprang to David’s aid. The final verse tells the end of the matter:
These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of
his servants. II Samuel 21:22.

2. The Rephaim, Living or Dead?

We have long observed that the subject of the Rephaim is both curious and complex. Are
they the living, or the dead, or both? As giants in the pages of Scripture, they are most
certainly alive and kicking. The preceding example of Og is but one of many examples of the
Hebrew term, Rephaim, being translated into English by the word, “giants.”

They are the leaders of many of the Bible’s major battles, and are repeatedly mentioned as
contemporaries of the Old Testament’s heroes. But they are also presented as the leaders of
the dead, who apparently maintain their importance, even in the place of the damned. In a
prophecy against the king of Babylon, Isaiah writes about the great monarch’s final demise:

Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for
thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of
the nations. \saiah 14:9.

Here, the word “dead” is a translation of Rephaim. We have come to regard them as “the
aristocracy of the damned.” We believe them to be the fallen angels and demons who are
first seen in Scripture as they cohabitate with the “daughters of men” in Genesis 6. How
strange it is that they are given the same name as the giants like Og, who once roamed the
earth. Is there a connection between them? Are they perhaps two manifestations of the
same being?

In the Old Testament, there are many references to the Rephaim. Ancient writings from the
Middle East, as well as the Bible itself, have long identified them as inhabitants of the
underworld. They are described as the departed spirits of the dead. Furthermore, though
they may be weak and dissipated in their present state, they appear to be conscious and in
possession of knowledge about their existing condition. They are also the recipients of
some of God’s most severe judgments.

But defining them is not as simple as it may first appear, because there are also numerous
references to living members of the Rephaim. Perhaps the most ancient mention of this
strange people is found in Job 26:5, 6, where Job contributes to a discussion about the
wicked dead:

Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. Hell is naked
before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Here, the word “dead” is the Hebrew rephaim, rather than the ordinary word for the dead,
which is mooth. These are not the dead in the ordinary sense, but the unredeemed of the
underworld. The Rephaim are repeatedly presented in Scripture as being beyond
redemption. In fact, they seem to have done something that is especially displeasing to God.

They are singled out for a special judgment. Another example of Rephaim as the word
“dead” is seen in Proverbs 21:16:

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation
of the dead.

Here, we are given a picture of an assembly of individuals beyond the grave. They appear to
be gathered into some sort of group. As we shall see, they are also conscious. Their strange
congregation stands as a grisly warning to the man whose feet take him away from the path
of righteousness. The Rephaim are the lost in the world of the dead. Throughout the Bible,
this assessment of the Rephaim is consistent and powerfully presented.

Perhaps the best example is to be found in a remarkable passage in Isaiah 14. This
significant chapter describes the fall of Babylon and its king, then proceeds to the fall of
Lucifer. He is seen as the power behind Babylon’s throne. Verses 12 through 14 give us
details about Lucifer’s fall from grace, in which he finally proclaims, “I will be like the most
High” (v. 14).

His open proclamation of rebellion is followed by God’s assessment of this brazen

opportunist’s situation in verse 15:

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Isaiah 14:15.
3. The Leaders of the Dead

What makes this historical event so interesting in the light of our study is its proximity to a
further reference concerning the Rephaim. Just prior to the passage describing Lucifer’s fall
is another compelling allusion to this peculiar group of the unredeemed dead. Verses 9-11
record a bizarre reception committee as the king of Babylon descends into the realm of the
damned:

Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for
thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of
the nations. All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? Art
thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy
viols: the worm ís spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. Isaiah 14:9-11.

Here we see a gloomy, even horrifying procession of the unredeemed, as they descend from
Babylon into hell. They are met by the “dead” — once again the Rephaim — who are here
called the leaders of the earth.
Apparently, there is something of a hierarchy in hell, whose chief members were once the
close henchmen of Satan. They were the possessors of great power. But now, they speak of

having become “weak.” This is particularly interesting, because their name originates from
raphah, a word root that can indicate “feebleness” or “weakness.” Isaiah 26 is a song about
Israel in the kingdom, after the nation has been lifted up and resurrected to new life. But
significantly, there is one group whom Isaiah says will never see resurrection. They are the
Rephaim, translated as “dead” in Isaiah 26:

They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou
visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. \saiah 26:14.

The horrible plight of the Rephaim begs the question, “What could they have done to
deserve such a fate?” As we shall see, it was something quite monstrous, indeed.

4. New Testament References to “the Fallen”

It is quite possible that there are a number of New Testament references to this evil group.
For example, in I Peter 3:18, 19, we find mentioned a congregation of the underworld who
were singled out by Christ after His resurrection:

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to
God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and
preached unto the spirits in prison. | Peter 3:18, 19.

Having completed His work of redemption upon the cross, the Lord broke through the
Stygian gloom of deepest Hades to proclaim His victory. No doubt, His message was most
acutely aimed at the evil leaders of the revolutionary movement. Those to whom He spoke
were incarcerated, though some evil spirits (the “principalities ... powers ... rulers of the
darkness ...”) of Ephesians 6:12 seem free to torment humanity. They are a hierarchy of
dark spiritual forces who roam the earth. But there is a group which has been locked away
through several millennia.

Who are these imprisoned spirits? The Bible gives several clues to their identity and the
reasons for their confinement. No doubt, they’re still there, awaiting the day when the Lord
will deliver them to their eternal fate: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.”
Revelation 20:14.

As previously stated, there seems to be a special caste of condemned spirits in Hades.

Perhaps they might be termed “ringleaders,” or the “avant-garde” of the great rebellion,
who joined in when Satan attempted to wrest the control of heaven from God. This fact,
coupled with their name, makes it possible to identify them. Jude mentioned them in verse
6 of his epistle:
“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath
reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”

These ancient residents of heaven must have been proud, powerful, and as deeply deceived
as their leader. If, as seems to be the case, heaven has hierarchies of power, these must
have been those close to the upper levels — close to Lucifer, himself. In Ezekiel 28:16,
Satan is described before his fall as a “covering cherub.” In other words, he was once one of
the watchers assigned to duty at God’s very throne! He existed at the very top of God’s
“chain of command.” The throng of angels who followed him must have included many of
those in heaven’s most respected positions. From their lofty positions, they made a wrong
decision of colossal proportions!

Peter further defines the group when he mentions them in II Peter 2:

“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered
them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world,
but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon
the world of the ungodly.” II Peter 2:4, 5.

In these verses, the word “hell” is translated from the Greek tartarus (from tartaroo, or
gloomy prison). It indicates the deepest, darkest, and most secure portion of Hades. These
imprisoned creatures were once the royalty of heaven. But they chose to follow the false
promises of Satan. Once the elite of the revolution, they are now designated for special
punishment. More than that, they are identified with Noah, as well as all those of the
ancient world before the Flood, who were destroyed in a massive demonstration of God’s
power in judgment.

5. The Giants of the Ancient World

And here, the story begins to get interesting, because some of those sinning angels
mentioned by Peter and Jude are also implicated in the horrific perversions that led to the
destruction of the world in the great Flood of Noah’s day. Their story is told in Genesis 6:

“There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God
came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became
mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man
was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually.” Genesis 6:4, 5.

Here, the “sons of God” are the b’nai elohim. Over the years, it has been greatly debated
whether or not these are human beings. Many have said they are the sons of Seth. But in the
final analysis, we find that the term b’nai elohim is used several times in the Old Testament.
In virtually all of its usages, the obvious reference is to God’s angelic creation. (See Job 1:6;
2:1; 38:7; Dan. 3:25; Psalms 89:6.) Most expositors have concluded that these are fallen
angels, the same as those whom Jude mentions as having left their first estate.

More importantly, when we look at the result of their infraction, it becomes more than
obvious that they were those corrupted angels. They literally took human women as mates,
resulting in a monstrous progeny that was totally committed to wicked behavior. Their
offspring are called “giants.” But this word is translated from the Hebrew Nephilim,
meaning “the fallen ones.” Why then, are they called “giants”? Most likely, it is because the
ancient Greek translations of the Hebrew Torah translated this and other references to
these monstrous perversions of humanity as “giants,” from the Greek gigantes.

In fact, the evidence is strong that they really were giants. More than that, they seem to
have displayed the superhuman powers that gave rise to the ancient legends of demigods.

In the first century, Josephus wrote Antiquities I, III, 1 that: “... many angels of God
accompanied with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was
good, on account of the confidence they had in their own strength, for the tradition is that
these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians call giants.”

Those even slightly familiar with ancient Greek mythology will shudder at the implications
of this statement. Those ancient tales are fraught with perverse combinations of men and
beasts. They tell of demigods whose powers were used capriciously to torture and enslave
humanity. They reek of incestuous, occultic and twisted stories of power gone awry — of
“gods” who took lives at a whim. They were characterized by evil thoughts acted out in an
orgiastic nightmare of abused power. Greek mythology is one continuous horror story,
peopled with beasts and monsters of every description.

But Genesis refers to them simply as “giants.” A giant then, is some kind of perversion of
that which is natural, originally designed by God to live in peace upon the earth. In fact, the
ancient Greek translation of the Old Testament — called the Septuagint — refers not only
to the Nephilim, but also to the Rephaim, as “giants,” But in English translations, this
connection is, for the most part, lost. Instead, we find the use of the proper name, Rephaim.

6. The Rephaim Were Giants

It is remarkable that the Rephaim are also mentioned in the Bible as real, living, historical
beings. In fact, they were residents in the territory of modern Jordan and Syria, in the land
that lies generally east of the Sea of Galilee. They lived in proximity with two other groups
of giants, called “Emim” and “Zamzummim,” or “Zuzim.” In the ancient world, all of them
were referred to generically as “giants.” Genesis 14:5 mentions them in conjunction with
Abraham’s move to the promised land:

“And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and
smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in
Shaveh Kiriathaim.” Genesis 14:5.

To this day, ruins may be found in this region that are of gigantic proportion. Here, and
northward into Syria and Lebanon, there are the remains of ancient buildings and temples
that stagger the imagination. For example, the ruins of Baalbek, in Lebanon’s Beqa’a Valley
are so massive that some have suggested they could not be duplicated, even using modern
building techniques. On the Acropolis of Baalbek, there once stood a temple dedicated to
the storm god Hadad. It was 60 feet wide and 290 feet long, surrounded by 19 columns,
each 62 feet high and over seven feet in diameter. But its flooring stones — still intact —
are each larger than a modern railroad boxcar! No one has a clue about how they were
moved into place.

And there are many other ancient examples of outsized ancient structures in the Middle
East. We should not be surprised by their existence. Many times the early Israelites
encountered people that they called “giants.” Even later, when Moses brought the children
of Israel out of Egypt into the Promised Land, giants were seen. Perhaps the most famous
incident is in Numbers 13, in which a 12-man reconnaissance party is sent in to spy out the
land. Ten of the 12 men are so frightened by the presence of giants that they declined to
enter the land again:

“And they brought an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of
Israel, saying, the land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the
inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And
there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our
own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:32, 33.

In early Hebrew manuscripts, these giants are called the Nephilim, and were apparently
thought by the spies to be descendants of a long line of these creatures, whom we first read
about in the days before the Flood. But if the pre-Flood world, with the exception of Noah’s
family, was entirely destroyed, how did the evil giants survive? Here, we can only speculate.

It seems likely that the lineage of the Nephilim, Emim, Zamzummim, and Rephaim were
somehow restarted even in the days after the Flood. One thing we know: after the Flood
their behavior was continually evil, just like that of the pre-Flood Nephilim. The strong
suggestion is that humanity’s interaction with the evil spirits of ancient paganism is
capable of disrupting man’s genetic heritage. The result seems to be a monstrous offspring.

Still another branch of the Rephaim went by the name of “Anakim.” We see them in
Deuteronomy 2:10, 11, where Moab is described as their area of habitation:

“The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
which also were accounted giants as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.”
Deuteronomy 2:10, 11.

Here, the word “giants” is once again the Hebrew word Rephaim. They were an abnormal
race. All of them seem to have been hated and feared by normal men. God sanctioned their
destruction and eventually their lineage entirely disappeared. Even the Zamzummims were
a subclass of the Rephaim. Deuteronomy 2:20, 21 mentions their destruction from the land
of Ammon, while at the same time, designating their origins:

“That also was accounted a land of giants: [Rephaim] giants dwelt therein in old time; and
the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their
stead.” Deuteronomy 2:20, 21.

As can be seen from the various Scriptures we have quoted, the Rephaim existed in Moses’
day. The Lord even commissioned him to wipe out the last of their race.

7. Og, Archetype of the Latter Days

Earlier, we mentioned King Og of Bashan, the land of present-day Syria. Prior to their entry
into the Promised Land, Moses led the Israelites on a military campaign northward through
Moab, Ammon and Bashan, lands today known as Jordan and Syria. His conquests were
concluded with the defeat of Og, King of Bashan. Deuteronomy 3:11 describes him:

“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; [Rephaim] behold, his
bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits
was the length thereof and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.”
Deuteronomy 3:11.

We have already seen that Og was truly monstrous in size! The important thing to
remember is that he was in the bloodline of the Rephaim. In fact, he was the last of that evil
line. Joshua 13:12 punctuates this fact:

“All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained
of the remnant of the giants; [Rephaim] for these did Moses smite and cast them out.”
Joshua 13:12.

Moses was responsible for the demise of the Rephaim. True, other giants arose after this
period. Probably the best example is Goliath. But the period of dominant cultures of giants
ended with Og. The living Rephaim, like their dead namesakes who wander in the
congregation of the damned, seem to be the product of a dark and evil system that lies
hidden in the history of humanity. Among the Jews, it is even taught that some of the
Nephilim survived the Flood of Noah, and that Og was the last of their lineage. This is
certainly not borne out in Scripture. But there does seem to be a dark spiritual connection
between Og and those monstrous predecessors. It is found in the phrase, “after that,” in a
well-known Scripture verse.

8. Before and After the Flood

Genesis 6:4, which we examined earlier in a different context, gives these two words a
special meaning:

“There were giants [or nephilim, “the fallen ones”] in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to
them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” Genesis 6:4.

The ancient world of the Jews, Greeks and Romans abounded with tales about how the gods
came down and intermarried with mankind, producing demigods, heroes and half-man-
half-beast monstrosities. The ancients believed that a kernel of truth lay at the center of
these stories. Here, the Bible even says that this happened both prior to the Flood of Noah
and also at some later time “... after that ...” that is, after the great deluge.

But under the current mindset, theologians now object to the idea that disembodied spirit
beings (even if they exist) could intrude upon the physical world — and especially to mate
with human women. Yet, in the millennia prior to Sir Francis Bacon and the men of modern
science, with their methods of empirical science and inductive reasoning, that is precisely
what was taught and believed. The flaw in his method is that man makes assumptions
(hypotheses), based upon his own beliefs and prejudices.

From modern man’s point of view, perhaps the chief objection to human/angel interactions
is that they just don’t “make sense.” He has been conditioned to think in terms of
observation and proof. The scientific method cannot prove the existence of the spirit world.
And even if it did, there is still another question: How is it possible that a spirit being could
actually become “physical” enough to walk among men—and women?

But a moment’s reflection reveals that the Bible gives many examples of righteous angels
who did just that. In Genesis 18, Abraham receives three visitors, whom he welcomes into
his home for a meal. Apparently, they are just like ordinary men, even to the point of eating
and drinking. But the common explanation is that they are angels who have taken the form
of men. Their demeanour is “physical” in every way.

In Genesis 19, two angels visit Sodom to warn Lot that he must leave the city before it is
divinely destroyed in a rain of fire. Again, they seem like men, rather than the common
picture of winged angels in glowing white clothing. Even the perverted men of Sodom
related to them as ordinary humans. It is obvious that angels regularly circulate among
human beings. Their appearance is so utterly “human” that it is possible to meet a
supernatural being without even suspecting that you have had a transaction with an angel.
The simple conclusion is that angels can transition in and out of our world with ease. And

there is ample historical evidence to conclude that this includes evil, fallen angels, as well
as the righteous angels who never left their assigned sphere of righteousness.

The conclusion is both obvious and simple. In ways we don’t completely understand,
demonic forces can physically intervene in normal human affairs. They can introduce
genetic transformations in their subjects, resulting in a variety of alterations that suit their
needs at the moment. Monsters are the result. Human beings have traditionally viewed
these new creatures as gigantic or heroic in proportion. Both before and after the Flood,
they were the despots whose rule came from force and power. They were real then ... the
fallen ones called “giants” in the ancient world. And they are real now, or so say the
testimony of many thousands of witnesses.

9. Giant Hairy Bipeds

In particular, as we witness the waning influence of God’s Holy Spirit in these latter days,
demonic influence will become progressively unleashed. As Paul put it in I Timothy 4:1,
“doctrines of devils” will begin to come to the foreground. Today’s occultic books and
movies abound with unspeakable tales of titanic powers and monstrous giants, aroused as
if from some long sleep. In fact, this is a prevalent theme among such productions. But they
are only the precursors of the real thing that is shortly to come.

During the days of the prophets and on through the Christian era, the old giants receded
deeply into the background of history. But they seem tantalizingly close to public
realization once again. Beginning particularly in the last half of the present century, the
world is hearing more and more about a class of creatures whose very existence is
questioned. The prevailing belief is that giants will never exist again. Og and his people are
gone forever.

But thousands firmly believe that they have seen, tracked and in some cases met, one or
more of the giant creatures. In every case, these creatures seem to want nothing more than
to be left alone. They flee at astonishing speeds when confronted by human beings. They
are true giants, ranging in height from eight to twelve feet! Their footprints have been
measured at fourteen to twenty-four inches or more!

These reticent anthropoids are known by many names: kaptars (Asia), yowies (Australia),
yetis, or abominable snowmen (the Himalayas), kangmi (Tibet), sasquatch (northwestern
American Indian), or bigfoot (western north America, Canada). Some naturalists simply
term them Giant Hairy Bipeds, or GHB’s for short.

It is more or less widely known that these creatures exist. Their vocalizations (including a
strange language) have been recorded. But their reality is curiously fleeting. This has
caused many casual observers to dismiss the thought of their existence as foolish. But they

do exist, in many cases acknowledged by anthropologists and attested to by convincing

photos, hair and footprint evidence and even motion picture footage.
An entire pseudo-science, called crypto-zoology, has emerged. It is devoted to the study of
these strange, giant man-apes. In the fifties and sixties, hundreds of similar sightings were
reported, as the “abominable snowman” became the rage of the world’s news media. Many
hunting parties trekked into the Tibetan high country and the towering Himalayas to be the
first to bring back a specimen worth millions. They all failed.

But in the late sixties, seventies and eighties, reports began to filter in from all over the
world. Especially in the Western U.S. and Canada, tales about “bigfoot” were rife. And once
again, the hunt was on. American Indians had long spoken about the “giant hairy men” who
lived deep in the forests. In the northwest, the local tribes named them “sasquatch.” Indians
believed that these creatures lived in family units, sought out remote areas, hated contact
with humans, and were possessed of special “senses” that made it impossible to find them.

Actually, these massive and shaggy creatures have been reported virtually all over the
world. In our country, sightings have ranged from coast-to-coast and border-to-border. But
they are particularly observed in Washington, Oregon, California, Indiana and states
throughout the Midwest. Worldwide, there are literally thousands of similar reports,
continuing to the present day. Usually, the creatures are accompanied by a retching odour
that people describe as the worst thing they’ve ever smelled. This has led to another
common nickname, “Skunk Ape.”

Back in the woods of the northwest and Canada, vigorous reports continue unabated to the
present day. Such reports are so common that the creatures are now protected by law in
many communities. They are thought to be so “humanlike” in appearance that it is
considered a capital crime to kill one. What is not widely known is that GHB’s are
commonly accompanied by phenomena usually attributed to the race known as demons.
Their appearance is likely to be accompanied by ghostly rapping in the homes of nearby
residents, unidentifiable noises, the levitation or translocation of ordinary household
objects, disembodied voices and flying lights in the night.

In one of the most famous cases, two GHB’s were seen walking away from a flying “bubble
of light,” after it landed on the Pulaski farm near Greensburg, Pennsylvania. On the night of
October 25, 1973, state police were summoned, after residents of the family farm were
literally frightened out of their wits by the hairy giants who walked toward them. Stephen
Pulaski tried to shoot them with a hunting rifle, but they seemed unhurt, and merely
walked back into the woods.

Those who have studied the GHB phenomenon quickly realize that these monstrous
animals exhibit all the transitory, will-o’-the-wisp characteristics described in traditional

demonology. They are virtually always accompanied by the accouterments of the occult,
the spiritualistic and the metaphysical. This is, of course, the most obvious explanation of
their mysterious ability to resist discovery. Over the last forty years, literally thousands of
hunting parties have vied for the honor of being the first to bring this “new species” into the
light of society. To a man, they have failed. Sometimes, their hunts have taken place within
very small tracts of woods. They have literally had the giants surrounded, but their ever-
tightening circles converged upon nothing!

10. Demons Dead and Alive

Does this remind us of anything else? Yes indeed, it does. It reminds us of the long-standing
belief that the demon is able to transition back and forth between different states of
existence. It can be both a spirit creature and a physical animal. And it also reminds us of
the ancient Rephaim, who are named in Scripture, both as condemned spirit beings and as
giants.

Modern man is bedevilled by many such phenomena. Hauntings, poltergeist phenomena,

“psychic” behavior, and GHB’s all exhibit the vexatious tendency to avoid capture. Thus, the
“scientific” mind, operating with the prejudice that such things cannot exist to begin with,
remains smugly satisfied. Respected scientific journals and media outlets never treat these
common subjects with anything resembling objectivity.

And woe is unto the unprejudiced observer who, after an encounter with these
“nonexistent” phenomena, must prove his sanity. But you’re saying, “Wait a minute, the
giants of the Bible were visible and real. They didn’t disappear like spooks.” And right you
are, to a point. In fact, however, they did disappear into the dusty pages of history ... for the
second time.

The first time they disappeared was in the Flood of Noah. The Bible tells us that only Noah
and his family came through the Flood. Yet somehow, the giants came back again to plague
Abraham, Moses and the Davidic kingdom. While we cannot be dogmatic, we would say
that somehow, the demon interceded in fallen man’s development, producing the living
Rephaim.

11. The Rephaim, both Spiritual and Physical

This would seem to provide an answer to the nagging question about why the Bible refers
to Rephaim as both living and dead. Perhaps they are “shades,” or spirits, who are able to
affect the physical world from time to time. This may particularly be true in societies given
over to the worship of various evil spirits, including demons.

Their two states of existence in Scripture may help to explain the basic and troublesome
question mentioned above: How were the giants of Genesis 6 able to come back to trouble

the world after they were destroyed in the Flood? Might they have later influenced man
genetically in some way, causing him to become a mutant — a giant? One of the giants of
Gath was said to have six fingers and six toes on his hands and feet. This would certainly
indicate at least the possibility that there was some perversion of the human genotype.
Here, we become involved with the twisted world of the fallen angels and demons. In this
dark and alien arena, we must proceed with caution. Still, though the subject may seem
strange, there is ample information for a careful study. This should not be a theme
unfamiliar to Christians. After all, even Paul writes to Christians about the truth of our
spiritual battle:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:12.

While it is impossible to be precise about the enigmatic order of the occult power structure,
the three groups mentioned here are the rulers [Gk., archon], authorities [Gk., exousia] and
lords of this world [Gk., kosmokratoras]. These are the demons who infest the globe under
the direction of Satan. Historical observation of this miserable race always yields one
interesting and to some, perhaps unexpected trait. Namely, under great effort, when it suits
their cause, demons are apparently quite able to manifest themselves in the physical world
— in physical bodies.

Furthermore — given the proper spiritual environment and a little time — they are
apparently capable of making their presence permanent. That is, by altering the human
species, they produce beings who are more appropriate to their plans.

12. The Prophetic Conclusion

Those plans include the rise of a new era of despotism. Given their ancient behaviours, it is
probably safe to say that they are even now involved in the malevolent practices that
marked their past intrusions. As earlier noted, we are now living at the end of the Christian
era, a time when evil supernatural manifestations have been suppressed. The restraining
power of God’s Holy Spirit is without doubt, the agency responsible for this blessed
condition. Regarding the unveiling of latter-day evil forces, specifically the Antichrist, Paul
writes:

“And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery
of iniquity doth already work: only he who now Ietteth will let, until he be taken out of the
way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit
of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming

is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.” II Thessalonians
2:6-9.

Paul tells us with extreme clarity that the Antichrist will be revealed on a wave of demonic
activity, no doubt including the alien phenomena that we have discussed in this and other
articles on the subject. Today, the demon and his ilk are steadily re-emerging in more and
more blatant displays of strange activity. Current stories of UFO abductions, grotesque
animal mutilations, genetic experiments and pseudo-technological razzle-dazzle are
capped off by the furtive manifestations of the GHB.

Just beneath the surface, these phenomena are definitely connected. There is a web of
activity that will produce the same sort of evil that characterized the antediluvian era. We
have only to remember that ancient historians linked the demigods of old with the
intrusion of Satan and his minions with the Nephilim. The fallen ones of that day seem to
have been the result of dark experimentation ... a celestial attempt to link the unseen world
with our physical reality.

In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus stated this fact directly:

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the
days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark and knew not until the flood came,
and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:37-39.

Demonic activity will be unleashed in ways that have been long forgotten. It will produce
the horrors of the Great Tribulation. For a time, there will be a literal “hell on earth.” It is
likely that giants will become dominant and quite public once again. The goal of such
spiritual interference is to disrupt God’s desire to redeem mankind. But their plans were cut
off once, and they will be thwarted again.

When the Holy Spirit is finally “... taken out of the way ...” who knows what evils will hurl
themselves upon the world’s naive societies? It is not beyond reason that when spiritual
restraints are finally removed, the giant Rephaim will once again tread out their grim
oppression upon the earth. Today, they live in vaults of Hades and the shadows of the
forests. One day soon, their horror may appear in broad daylight.

The message is this: As these phenomena become increasingly prominent, it will be

another compelling reason to believe that we are living in the closing days of the Church
Age. As Hebrews 10:24, 25 say:

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and
so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” We definitely see it approaching!

Last ‘Fixed’ Genetic Code

From the most ancient times, generations have come and gone: individuals have formed
relationships, married, conceived and brought up children quite literally in the image of
themselves. Out of this experience of oneness (however transient) has come with
conception a unique historical event: a fusion of their two lives and individuality to form a
brand new mix of them both as a new child is born. Yet for the generation born this year, or
next, it could be the end of the line.

The generation being born now may well be the last to have a "fixed" genetic code,
inherited universally in a conventional way. As we will begin to see, there may be few alive
in 30 year time who have not had the genetic code of at least some of their cells
reprogrammed away from what they naturally inherited. For some, they will acquire
genetic changes which will outlast their own lives because they will be passed on to their
children, their grandchildren and their great grandchildren. Subsequent generations will
have to judge whether this is a blessing or a biological curse.

e The Rule of Life

From the most ancient times a rule of life has been seen to be true: insects breed insects,
birds breed birds, cows breed cows and humans breed humans. If you take acorns from an
oak tree and plant them the result is more oak trees. Creatures and plants remain true to
type, faithfully passing on their characteristics from generation to generation. Where there
are slight variations, for example in skin pigmentation or in the coloring of flowers, then
these too can usually be traced down the generations. The basis of life has been remarkably
stable considering its complexity.

The basis of this inheritance was not understood however. An understanding of how
organisms are built out of cells only emerged with the invention of the first light
microscope by Robert Boyle in the eighteenth century. It was many decades later before we
began to understand how the cell works. Most of the structures in a cell could only be seen
with the high power of the electron microscope. However, for many centuries experiments
were already taking place with cross-breeding, the earliest technique of genetic
engineering.

e The Book of Life

The quite extraordinary thing about the code of life is that it is so constant: the smallest
most primitive living organism to the largest has a book of life written in exactly the same
language and structured in an identical way. For evolutionists this comes as no surprise,
neither does it to those who believe the Genesis account as truth and that when God spoke
the language of creation he spoke in the language of life, or genetic code.

This mystery of life itself is being broken, in the test tube of the laboratory and in the brain
of the desktop microcomputer. It is happening right now in front of our eyes yet few have
seen it happening or understood the consequences. What about the consequences, and how
do we respond to them?

For centuries, people have dreamed of being able to alter themselves or each other or of
being able to produce "clones". More recently parents have thought not only of choosing
the sex of their children but also of being able to influence the development of their
children to produce high intelligence, attractive personality, healthy constitution, athletic
body, musical ability and maybe even an obedient nature!

Parents of children with inherited diseases such as cystic fibrosis, where the lung problems
are a result of faulty genetic code have dreamed of a day when doctors might be able to
program the faulty gene back. Those with AIDS have dreamed of a cure for HIV infection,
reversing the damage done to cells by the virus called HIV, which programs white cells to
produce more viruses instead of fighting infection.

Farmers have dreamed of low fat cows, non-bruised tomatoes, cold-resistant bananas, corn
which comes up year after year without seeding and other strange creations.

To say that all these things are already possible would be a gross exaggeration. However, as
we will see, the machinery and knowledge is already here and the experience will be before
long.

e Genes and Chromosomes

All the genes or sets of instructions in a human are contained in just 46 chromosomes, each
of which exists as one of 23 pairs. Chromosomes can be seen under the microscope and
most look quite similar. However, there is an obvious difference between men and women:
women have a pair of chromosomes shaped like two Xs while men have one X chromosome
and another shaped like a Y. The Y is dominant so a single Y produces a boy and suppresses
a single X. The haemophilia defect is on the X chromosome so women never get the disease
although they can be carriers, with their second normal X chromosome dominating over
the abnormal one.

e Genes and Cells Factories

[When] we understand what genes are and how they are inherited we can begin to see
where scientists can start to make changes and how scientists can make artificial
chromosomes (strings of genes). There is one further thing we need to understand. While
every human cell (except red blood cells and sperm or eggs) contains a full set of
chromosomes with all the genes for the whole person, each cell only uses a minute fraction
of the information.

One of the greatest puzzles in medicine is how a kidney cell knows it is a kidney cell and not
a piece of skin for example. The chromosomes are the same. The genes are the same. The
full genetic code is the same. We need first to understand how a cell works: each cell in the
body has a similar structure. Incidentally you will find an almost identical structure in the
cells of every living creature. Cells are tiny. Around a million will just about cover a square
measuring one centimeter by one centimeter. Each of these cells is basically a chemical
factory with three parts: a brain (nucleus), cell fluid (cytoplasm) and a cell wall to keep it
all together.

e How Chromosomes Store Information

If you take a chromosome apart into its tens of thousands of genes and take each gene apart
one by one, you will find each one is made up of a long string of building blocks or
molecules. There are around 300,000,000 building blocks used in every human cell. These
special strings of them are called nucleic acids, because they are chemically slightly acidic
and they are used in the nucleus of a cell. The nucleic acids themselves are called DNA (or
deoxyribonucleic acid). DNA is built up of only four different building blocks known as
bases.

These form a four letter "alphabet" formed from the different shapes of the four structures:
Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine, or A, T, G and C for short. Assembled DNA
consists of two strands that look a little like the model railway track in our home. Each rail
is a long string of the four bases in a special language sequence - ATGCCTA for example.
These chemicals operate in reverse pairs so that if - say - A is one side of the track, T is
always on the other; G always pairs with C and the other way round is also true. The pairs
are joined together like the sleepers of a railway track.

e The Language of Life

When a gene is dismantled, you can write out the order of bases as a code or language -
even with punctuation marks. Typing out the full language from all your own genes would
fill more than a whole book of 100 of pages. In fact, the lists of instructions are extremely
long and detailed - probably enough to fill the entire Encyclopedia Britannica. There is a lot

of information which is repeated twice and many pages which are "spare" filled with a
jumble of words and phrases not being used currently at all.

Each cell in your body contains the full encyclopedia but only uses a few pages. All the
other genes are "turned off" or deactivated. To put it another way, the other volumes of the
encyclopedia are in the bookshelf unopened.

One feature of cancer cells is that the wrong volume of the encyclopedia is open and the
wrong genes are active, sending "correct" but inappropriate instructions to cells to grow
and usually to become less specialized.

e Messengers of Life

So how exactly are these instructions sent? The cell uses a second form of genetic code
called RNA (or ribonucleic acid) to make a precise copy of just one strip of code. The RNA is
written also in a four letter code, the only difference being that it uses Uracil or U instead of
Thymine or T. Once this messenger RNA has been printed off the DNA using it as a
template, it passes through the wall of the nucleus and is carried through the cytoplasm
until it finds a ribosome factory. And then the real action begins.

Every structure in the human body is built out of twenty different building blocks called
amino acids. Each is the equivalent of as differently shaped piece of Lego. The body finds it
very difficult to make them which is why we need protein in our diet from meat or plant
sources. In the small intestine (mostly in the duodenum and jejunum), proteins are broken
down and the amino acids are then absorbed.

There is almost no limit to the shapes that can be built with these amino acids, with a
parallel being how many different models can be built with twenty thousand Lego bricks of
twenty different shapes. The only difference with proteins is that as with DNA they are
assembled piece by piece in a long string. However once the string becomes longer, or is
completed, the string starts to bend and kink, with curves and straight sections appearing
in different places according to which different building blocks are where.

As the folding up continues, building blocks which were in the center of the long string can
suddenly find that they are almost touching building blocks near the beginning or the end.
Some building blocks tend to pull towards each other as if magnetized, and these "magnets"
tend to "glue" the structure together and give it stability. A drawing would look just like a
coiled piece of string. This is very misleading because the reality is more that of a string of
sausage tangled up and pressed down into a soft round ball.

e Playing God - Cloning Animals is a Routine

A science fiction nightmare has been giving people the power to create carbon copies or
identical twins of themselves. The technology is already here and so are growing concerns
about its use. It is in fact far easier to just copy all the genetic code of a cell than it is to
rewrite it. Even easier than copying is to get the body to do the copying for you. Since all
cells in the body except red blood cells and germ cells have an identical nucleus containing
all the individuals’ genes, we have an unlimited source of complete chromosome set we can
use. Even simpler, we could transplant the entire nucleus from one cell into another using a
micro fine glass. For many years, we have been able to clone animals including pigs, sheep,
rabbits, cows and chickens. In fact we seem able to clone just about any mammal we have
turned out energies to cloning.

To produce a clone, we need to be able to get hold of a complete set of chromosomes and
put them into an egg and see what happens. A frog's egg is easy to do this on because the
nucleus, seen as a black dot, in unfertilized eggs in fresh frogs pawn is so large. As we have
seen, the nucleus removed contains only a half set of chromosomes of course and would
not give instructions to divide until the half is provided by a sperm at fertilization.

e Cloning Techniques

However, with somewhat greater difficulty, we can borrow a complete set of chromosomes
by taking a whole nucleus out of a skin cell. The skin nucleus is very small and the
procedure is not easy. If we now inject the skin nucleus into an egg (nuclear
transplantation) then a remarkable transformation happens: the nucleus wakes up to the
fact that it is no longer in a determined cell, and pulls all the volumes of the encyclopedia
off the shelf at once. The nucleus instructs the cell to divide and divide again repeatedly
until the call of the cell starts to influence itself with each cell touching other cells
beginning to fix its role for the future according to its position.

Interestingly, if you want to save all the fuss and bother, you can make yourself a cheap
cloning system by separating individual cells off before the big ball develops. If you do, each
single cell taken away will carry on as if it is the only cell in the world and will go on
dividing like a brand new fertilized egg. This technique is called: blastomeric separation.

Robbing early dividing groups of cells to produce clones has worked well recently for a
variety of animals, especially cows and sheep. Why bother to mate a magnificent prize cow
with a bull which will add extra genes you may not want? Why not just clone the freak high
output high meat yield cow and insert these egg-like dividing cells into dozens of other
cows to act as surrogate mothers for the clones? Why not indeed? Farmers have felt there

are so many good reasons in favour that cloning is now set to become a standard breeding
technique.

The days of prize bulls or stallions mating or even donating sperm may be numbered. Any
animal can in theory be cloned this way. Obviously, it takes a lot of skill to detach healthy
dividing cells after fertilization and insert them into wombs at the right time and there is a
limit to the number of clones you can make for each fertilized egg. We used to be able to
work this method only up to the eight cell stage in mammals, but the limit is growing all the
time. The reason is that until the developing ball of cells has properly implanted, each time
the cells divide, they tend to get smaller, with less food reserves remaining in each. Taking
one call out of the ball to form a new ball is going to result in a smaller second ball of cells
and a weakened embryo which may not be viable. Many of the techniques being used here -
for example invitro fertilization and embryo replacement, have been routine in infertility
clinics and in farming for a number of years.

e What About Cloning Animals?

So what are the practicalities of cloning humans? A scientist claiming he has already cloned
a human embryo, found his embryos were dying very early - it is suspected that he was
using animals as surrogates and the surrogates were rejecting human embryos. So is there
a market for human clones? Deliberately laying aside any ethical considerations for the
moment, the question is important at every level of genetic engineering. If there is a market
then it will happen somewhere. Legislation, as we will see, may not protect unless it is
effective and global. If there is no market it may still happen, but probably on a more
experimental scale limited only by the conscience of the experimenter.

Unfortunately, global experience in war and peace shows us that such vast cultural and
individual differences exist in world view and personal ethics between individuals and
nations that it is inevitable that somewhere at some time scientists will pursue what is
physically possible. To some extent such exploration will be for its own sake but no doubt
driven by whatever are their own moral, philosophical, religious or political persuasions.
The market for human clones could be huge - especially if they can be frozen (and they can)
and only produced some years after the death of the clone donor.

e A Child with Built in Guarantees

After all - and that is being deliberately provocative - if couples can opt for a donated egg
and sperm from parents with known characteristics to be inserted into the mother's womb,
why not cut out the uncertainties and go for a child with a set of guarantees?

guaranteed intelligence,

guaranteed free from genetic diseases,

guaranteed abilities in other areas.

You could even have a photograph showing what the child would look like aged 2 and 6
years old. The only thing that would not be guaranteed would be the right environment for
the child so that his or her genetic potential could flourish best. However, we could also
describe a guaranteed environment as one which has tended to produce excellent results
with this set of genes in the past.
Dictators in the past wishing to guarantee the survival of some aspect of their own
personality have only been able to resort to conceiving a large number of children. Cloning
could be very appealing - possibly "irresistibly" tempting to a dictator wanting a son and
heir worthy of his destiny. For someone possessed with a sense of his own self, it could
indeed be a fascinating adventure to watch himself grow up again in a different situation.

Let us argue for the sake of exposing the controversy that it is in fact no different from
having a child who seems to have naturally inherited vastly from one parent: "He is the
spitting image of his father".

e Spare Parts Production Using New Technology

Having decided there could be a big market in self-grown replacement organs, how would
it be done?

First we have to look at what has already been carried out in animals or using animals. In
1984 there was a huge outcry when a surgeon in Southern California removed the beating
heart from a baboon and transplanted it into a baby known as "Baby Fae". For reason
which is obvious from what we have just seen, the heart was rejected and the baby died.

However we are now Seeing similar experiments in reverse: organs removed from late
human foetus that have just been aborted, and inserted into animals.

These experiments are being carried out in Palo Alto Mexico by a company called Systemic
backed by a $10 million investment. They are using mice bred without any natural immune
system to fight either infection or transplants from humans. They are kept in a strictly germ
free environment. Then they receive human tissue - for example thymus, lymph node or
liver cells. With these transplants the mouse develops a human style immune system. The
mouse can then be infected with the AIDS virus (HIV) or with other viruses which also fail
to grow well other than in humans. The mice can then be used to test potentially hazardous
new treatments. These humanized mice are big business but may be flawed because mice
still do not produce disease like we do.

Incidentally, there is another more serious problem: trying to infect mice with HIV could
lead to a mutation producing an even more dangerous version of HIV. This could happen if
mouse viruses combined in some way with HIV. It has even been suggested by some
scientists that such inter-species virus experiments could conceivably have led to the
emergence of HIV in the first place. Although the evidence appears to be stacked against
this alarming suggestion, the fact that it can even be made shows some of the problems that
can emerged. Experimental viruses have combined unexpectedly with each other in
animals in the past, becoming more dangerous as the new strain emerged.

e Foetal Transplants for Human

We can reverse this method to treat humans: how about taking organs or tissue from
animal foetus and transferring them into humans? Such transplants will be as surely
rejected as the monkey heart in the earlier example. But what about removing tissue from
an aborted human foetus and using that instead? Such an idea is abhorrent to most of the
population but is it being done?

For several years now tissue from aborted foetus has been used to treat patients with
"severe combined immuno-deficiency disease". Unlike AIDS this is an inherited condition
affecting all the immune system rather than just one part. The tissues transplanted are
pieces of liver and parts of the bone marrow. In another related disease called the Di
George syndrome, the tissue transplanted is from the Thymus gland. Other types of
immuno-deficiency, disorders of red blood cell production and disorders of metabolism can
also be treated in this way.

Interestingly, although the foetal tissue is completely incompatible and would normally
have been rejected - no matching takes place between foetal donor and recipient - these
transplants seem to work. Other uses are likely to be made of foetal transplants in the
future. Over the last ten years a number of experiments have been carried out in animals

using foetal tissue transplants to cure brain damage. Such experiments are an extension of
nerve tissue transplants that have been studied for around 100 years. If these latest
experiments prove successful then we can expect to see foetal brain or spinal cord
transplants in humans. The hope would be to try and overcome a big problem in damaged
human brains. Unlike the situation in the developing embryo, once a baby is born the nerve
cells seem to stop dividing and their response to injury is unlike other parts of the body. By
using primitive brain cells we might be able to allow a certain amount of repair of the brain
to take place.

e Faster Growing Animals

Genetic engineering has much to offer farmers looking for higher animal yields - of meat or
milk for example. There does not need to be a change in the genetic code of the animal
itself: we can use genetically engineered bacteria to produce hormones to drive the bodies
of animals as hard as they can go for maximum profit. This is a similar approach to using
insulin as a genetically engineered medicine in humans. One example of such an application
has resulted from the discovery of the genetic code for growth hormone in chickens. This
could soon be used to produce larger chickens faster. Other experiments on chickens are
using viruses to program germ cells, with the aim of producing chicks which hatch out with
a built in resistance to chicken viral disease.

The company Monsanto has just applied to the European Commission for a license to use a
genetically engineered drug on cows called bovine somatotrophin .This artificially
stimulates extra milk production producing the same yield with 30% fewer cattle. The
Commission has approved the drug use but the Council for Veterinary medicinal Products
has not reached a verdict. In the meantime a ban was applied in the European Community
until the end of 1991 while it considered a whole range of similar biotechnology products.

However despite the great debates, milk from cows treated with genetically produced
bovine growth hormone has been drunk by the British public since 1986 - from ten test
farms. Although some farmers are opposed to this farming method because they fear
bankruptcy if the price of milk falls as a result, environmentalists also question the need for
it when Europe already overproduces milk. As we saw earlier, farmers are already being
encouraged with financial incentives to take land out of farm production because it is
cheaper than caring for butter mountains.

In early 1991 the British Veterinary Product Committee recommended that the British
government should refuse a license to the two companies wanting to market the drug. The
grounds for objection where not risks to humans or the environment, but concern for the
welfare of the over-stimulated animals .However other scientists in the US also query
human safety - small amounts of an insulin-like substance seem to be secreted into the milk

of treated cows. Some are also concerned about a possible new milk allergy in humans as a
result. The hormone does increase the incidence of udder infection (mastitis) and the
treatment involves giving cows painful injections.

In November 1990 new evidence was emerging of other problems, possibly including
increased miscarriages in pregnant cows being treated. These new findings have led the US
Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to say that the drug was unlikely to be licensed for
use in the US "for some time".

With a ban already announced by German Parliament, the strength of the "caution" lobby is
growing. Meanwhile in the US alone, four companies hope to market the drug and have
already spent hundreds of millions of dollars in research and development. We can also use
genetic engineering to produce vaccines against animal diseases such as foot and mouth
disease.

e New ‘Super-Animals’

However as we have already seen, the biggest stakes of all are in genetically engineered
farm animals or "super animals". We have already seen how the sex of embryos can be
determined using genetic techniques, and how a whole new herd can be created in months
by cloning. But how about genetically altering the first animal before we begin?

In 1987 a scientific paper said that "within the foreseeable future it will be possible to add
foreign genes to the genetic composition of animals in order to transfer disease resistance,
rapid growth, fertility and efficient use of foodstuffs to their offspring." Patent protection
has been available on newly created animals as well as plants under US law since a historic
decision by the US Supreme Court in 1987. The test case involved polypoid oysters. In fact
the first gene transfers in mammals happened in mice over 26 years ago in 1976.
Food fads come and go. Doctors are still unable to agree about the relationship between
high levels of animal fat in the diet and heart disease. What seems likely is that a small
proportion of the population is sensitive to the damaging effect of animal fats while for the
rest of us the advice is probably irrelevant. We can probably detect who needs to be on low
fat diets through family history of heart disease or strokes, by testing blood cholesterol
levels - and in the future by inspecting the genetic code because such sensitivity seems to
be inherited.

e New Pigs

However the public perception of the dangers in eating animal fats is now firmly rooted
and the demand for low fat meat is therefore growing. In 1987 a new kind of "trans-genic"
pig was created for the first time with lower than normal body fat. Fertilized eggs from pigs

were injected with a strip of genetic code formed from two fragments, one from a human
with the instructions to produce human growth hormone, and the other from a mouse with
instructions to activate the gene.

The technology for injecting a single microscopic cell has been well established for many
years. The middle of a hollow piece of glass tubing is heated in a flame while pulling at both
ends. As the glass softens the two ends suddenly shoot apart. The middle becomes thinner
and smaller until finally it is hundreds of times thinner than a human hair and snaps .It is
fascinating to watch it happen. You are left with two pieces of glass tubing which taper off
at one end to microscopic size. The tubing is then attached to a microscope with special
controls so it can be precisely positioned in an individual cell.

Once injected the injected cells were returned to the womb to develop. Out of 341 pigs that
resulted, 31 were reprogrammed. They developed as a new species containing pig, mouse
and human genetic code. The human growth hormone production in the animals lowered
body fat, and stimulated mammary development (milk production). Moreover, the new
species gave birth to identical offspring five out of six times.

e New Sheep

The same experiments were also repeated using fertilized eggs from sheep with less
success - only three of 111 lambs born were a new creation. However, as long as you can
reproduce from the new stock, you only need to have a one in a thousand success rate or
less to make the effort worthwhile. After all, how much will a company pay for the first of a
new super-breed of cow, likely to become a new world class breed?

e New Cows

Other methods of reprogramming fertilized eggs include infecting them with genetically
engineered virus. This is fast becoming a standard technique. The demand is also rising for
skimmed milk. What do you do with all the cream when you cannot sell it as cream or as
butter?

The udders of cows have been particular targets for the genetic engineer: here is a massive
chemical factory producing very large amounts of complex proteins. We can either try to
adjust the composition and flavour of the milk in some way, or program the udders to
manufacture completely new substances which we can later extract from the milk to use as
medicines. Such milk would be unlikely to be suitable for drinking, even after extraction of
the medicine.

Mothers are also being increasingly driven again to old fashioned breast feeding of their
babies as more and more evidence grows of the long term damage to some through early
feeding on cow's milk - even in modified powder form.

A first immediate challenge has been to reprogram the udders of a cow by inserting the
human genes a mother's breast cells use to make the special formula for human breast
milk. This has been done in cow embryos and the reprogrammed cows are now growing up
fast. We can expect to see human breast milk substitute bottled direct from cows in the
near future.

The next problem is to alter the metabolism of animals so they grow more flesh faster and
less bone or fat. This is just an extension of selective breeding which as we have seen is
centuries old. A genetic engineering company called Granada Genetics in Texas said
recently that: "The concept of producing large numbers of genetically identical embryos,
frozen, sexed, screened for economic traits and produced inexpensively from
slaughterhouse by-products is within our grasp; all have already been demonstrated. What
will happen to protein production when commercial cow herds can be made up of one or
two female clone lines mated to bulls of the same clone? The obvious answer predictability
of performance to a magnitude never before achieved in agriculture".

Rapid progress is being made. It is even possible that we may see new animals emerging
although one suspect’s consumer pressure will mean they will still be called by familiar
names to avoid anxieties being raised. Would you buy geep meat at 40p a pound less than
lamb - combined goat and sheep?

e New Medicines for a New World

Genetic engineering is beginning to revolutionize medical and surgical practice. However

as soon as we put genetic engineering and medicine together we need to make a big
distinction between techniques designed simply to selectively identify and abort foetus
simply on the basis of their genetic problems (e.g. Downs babies) and techniques designed
to produce cures or treatments for conditions.

Although much embryo research has been labeled as assisting in the prevention of many
inherited diseases we have to be honest with ourselves and say that this is only being
achieved by mothers consenting to abortions if doctors suspect that the developing child
may have an inherited disease. This is "prevention by elimination" or "birth denial" rather
than prevention through counselling, education, treatment or cure.

Our understanding of human genetic code means that a vastly increased range of
predictions can be made about what an embryo will turn out to be like. In the past such
genetic tests were confined to gross problems like Downs Syndrome, where an entire

chromosome has been added to the basic number of 46.The defect is obvious with simple
observation down the microscope using special techniques. Incidentally, taking a sample
from a developing foetus is not without its hazards. The rate of spontaneous miscarriage
following the procedure can be as high as one in ten. It is a procedure to be considered very
carefully - whatever your position on abortion - especially where the mother is in her late
thirties or early forties and the couple have taken some years to conceive. In this situation
it is a particular tragedy to discover after a doctor-induced miscarriage that the baby
developing was completely normal. It may be the only pregnancy the woman will ever
have.

Incidentally, one wonder about this conflict between the rights of the mother to have a
healthy child, and the right of a child with medical problems to be born - whatever the
religious or philosophical persuasions of the parents.

Having considered some urgent issues relating to safety of this new technology we now
need to turn to the more subjective area and look at where some of the most difficult
ethical issues are. Broadly speaking they seem to fall into two groups:

° those concerned with the development of humans from egg to embryo to birth

° and those concerned with the radical changing of species.

Each of us has a view of the world which will color our response to these issues. However it
is helpful first to establish a few common principles that a large number of people would
probably accept. The first principle is an aesthetic dislike of creating the grossly unnatural,
or monsters. In the traveling fairs of some countries, for a small charge you can enter a tent
and see some of the strange wonders of the world: animals with two heads stuffed in a
glass box, or a baby with two heads and four arms. The Elephant man of the last century
was not a loved or popular public figure. Going to the zoo to see cages full of animals
mutated beyond all recognition is hardly likely to be a money spinner for the owners.

e What is a human being?

The second principle is a strong sense of what a human is - we recognize other human
beings instinctively without necessarily being able to analyze all the reasons why. Our
whole civilization rests on social interaction and respect between individuals and groups of
other people.
Therefore a language speaking chimpanzee with reasoning powers, will, personality and
artistic ability, is likely to be disturbing to most - especially if the chimpanzee talks fluently,
with a large vocabulary, dresses in human clothes and adopts human mannerisms.

When it is realized that the cause of this genius is that the human genetic code for the
brain's development was programmed into the developing embryo there may well be some

who begin to wonder if the creature is not in fact more human than animal. After all, many
owners of pets have similar feelings of identity with their dogs or cats for example. There is
a natural curiosity about such possibilities but a revulsion against having to live with the
consequences on a daily basis.

1. The Descendants of Seth Took for Wives the Descendants of Cain

The descendants of Seth had separated themselves from the wicked descendants of Cain.
They cherished the knowledge of God's will, while the ungodly race of Cain had no respect
for God and his sacred commandments. But when men multiplied upon the earth, the
descendants of Seth saw that the daughters of the descendants of Cain were very beautiful,
and they departed from God and displeased him by taking wives as they chose of the

2. The Descendants of Seth Were Called the Sons of God

Those who honored and feared to offend God, at first felt the curse but lightly; while those
who turned from God and trampled upon his authority, felt the effects of the curse more
heavily, especially in stature and nobleness of form. The descendants of Seth were called the
sons of God--the descendants of Cain, the sons of men. As the sons of God mingled with the
sons of men, they became corrupt, and by intermarriage with them, lost, through the
influence of their wives, their peculiar, holy character, and united with the sons of Cain in
their idolatry. Many cast aside the fear of God, and trampled upon his commandments. But
there were a few that did righteousness, who feared and honored their Creator. Noah and

3. Plurality of Wives Before the Flood

Instead of doing justice to their neighbors, they carried out their own unlawful wishes.
They had a plurality of wives, which was contrary to God's wise arrangement. In the
beginning, God gave to Adam one wife--showing to all who should live upon the earth, his
order and law in that respect. The transgression and fall of Adam and Eve brought sin and
wretchedness upon the human race, and man followed his own carnal desires, and changed

4. The People Before the Flood Ate Meat

The more men multiplied wives to themselves, the more they increased in wickedness and
unhappiness. If anyone chose to take the wives, or cattle, or anything belonging to his
neighbor, he did not regard justice or right, but if he could prevail over his neighbor by
reason of strength, or by putting him to death, he did so, and exulted in his deeds of
violence. They loved to destroy the lives of animals. They used them for food, and this
increased their ferocity and violence, and caused them to look upon the blood of human
beings with astonishing indifference. {1SP 68.1}

5. Before the Flood: Amalgamation of Man and Beast

But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the
flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of
God, and caused confusion everywhere. God purposed to destroy by a flood that powerful,
long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before him. He would not suffer them to live
out the days of their natural life, which would be hundreds of years. It was only a few
generations back when Adam had access to that tree which was to prolong life. After his
disobedience he was not suffered to eat of the tree of life and perpetuate a life of sin. In
order for man to possess an endless life he must continue to eat of the fruit of the tree of
life. Deprived of that tree, his life would gradually wear out. {1SP 69.1} emphasis supplied.

6. After the Flood: Amalgamation of Man and Beast

Every species of animal which God created was preserved in the ark. The confused species
which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the
flood. Since the flood, there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the
almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men.

7. Flesh Diet--An Aftermath of Sin

God gave our first parents the food He designed that the race should eat. It was contrary to
His plan to have the life of any creature taken. There was to be no death in Eden. The fruit
of the trees in the garden, was the food man's wants required. God gave man no permission
to eat animal food until after the flood. Everything had been destroyed upon which man
could subsist, and therefore the Lord in their necessity gave Noah permission to eat of the
clean animals which he had taken with him into the ark. But animal food was not the most

8. Three Curses: Posterity of Adam, the Ground, the Flood
The people who lived before the flood ate animal food and gratified their lusts until their
cup of iniquity was full, and God cleansed the earth of its moral pollution by a flood. Then
the third dreadful curse rested upon the earth. The first curse was pronounced upon the
posterity of Adam and upon the earth, because of disobedience. The second curse came
upon the ground after Cain slew his brother Abel. The third most dreadful curse from God
came upon the earth at the flood. {CD 373.2}

9. Permission to Eat Meat to Shorten Lives

After the flood the people ate largely of animal food. God saw that the ways of man were
corrupt, and that he was disposed to exalt himself proudly against his Creator and to follow
the inclinations of his own heart. And He permitted that long-lived race to eat animal food to

shorten their sinful lives. Soon after the flood the race began to rapidly decrease in size, and

10. Antediluvian Depravity

The inhabitants of the Old World were intemperate in eating and drinking. They would
have flesh meats, although God had given them no permission to eat animal food. They ate
and drank to excess, and their depraved appetites knew no bounds. They gave themselves
up to abominable idolatry. They became violent and ferocious, and so corrupt that God
could bear with them no longer. Their cup of iniquity was full, and God cleansed the earth
of its moral pollution by a flood. As men multiplied upon the face of the earth after the
flood, they forgot God, and corrupted their ways before Him. Intemperance in every form

11. Original Diet did not Include Animal Food

The diet appointed man in the beginning did not include animal food. Not till after the flood,
when every green thing on the earth had been destroyed, did man receive permission to eat

12. Who is the author of amalgamation?

Not one noxious plant was placed in the Lord’s great garden, but after Adam and Eve
sinned, poisonous herbs sprang up. In the parable of the sower the question was asked the
Master, “Didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? How then hath it tares?” The Master
answered, “An enemy hath done this.” All tares are sown by the evil one. Every noxious herb
is of his sowing, and by his ingenious methods of amalgamation he has corrupted the earth

13. Why does evil exist? (From The Great Controversy, all emphasis supplied)
To many minds, the origin of sin and the reason for its existence are a source of great
perplexity. They see the work of evil, with its terrible results of woe and desolation, and
they question how all this can exist under the sovereignty of One who is infinite in wisdom,
in power, and in love. Here is a mystery, of which they find no explanation. And in their
uncertainty and doubt, they are blinded to truths plainly revealed in God's Word, and
essential to salvation. There are those who, in their inquiries concerning the existence of
sin, endeavor to search into that which God has never revealed; hence they find no solution
of their difficulties; and such as are actuated by a disposition to doubt and cavil, seize upon
this as an excuse for rejecting the words of Holy Writ. Others, however, fail of a satisfactory
understanding of the great problem of evil, from the fact that tradition and
misinterpretation have obscured the teaching of the Bible concerning the character of God,
the nature of his government, and the principles of his dealing with sin. {GC88 492.1}

14. The Creator not Responsible for the Evil One

It is impossible to so explain the origin of sin as to give a reason for its existence. Yet
enough may be understood concerning both the origin and the final disposition of sin, to
fully make manifest the justice and benevolence of God in all his dealings with evil. Nothing
is more plainly taught in Scripture than that God was in nowise responsible for the entrance
of sin; that there was no arbitrary withdrawal of divine grace, no deficiency in the divine
government, that gave occasion for the uprising of rebellion. Sin is an intruder, for whose
presence no reason can be given. It is mysterious, unaccountable; to excuse it, is to defend
it. Could excuse for it be found, or cause be shown for its existence, it would cease to be sin.
Our only definition of sin is that given in the Word of God; it is "the transgression of the
law;" it is the outworking of a principle at war with the great law of love which is the
foundation of the divine government. {GC88 492.2}

15. Christ: the only Being in all the Counsels and Purposes of God

Before the entrance of evil, there was peace and joy throughout the universe. All was in
perfect harmony with the Creator's will. Love for God was supreme, love for one another
impartial. Christ the Word, the only begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father,--one in
nature, in character, and in purpose,--the only being in all the universe that could enter into
all the counsels and purposes of God. By Christ, the Father wrought in the creation of all
heavenly beings. "By him were all things created, that are in Heaven, ... whether they be
thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers;" [COL. 1:16.] and to Christ, equally with
the Father, all Heaven gave allegiance. {GC88 493.1}

16. Beings Including Angels Created with the Freedom of Choice

The law of love being the foundation of the government of God, the happiness of all created
beings depended upon their perfect accord with its great principles of righteousness. God
desires from all his creatures the service of love,-- homage that springs from an intelligent
appreciation of his character. He takes no pleasure in a forced allegiance, and to all he
grants freedom of will, that they may render him voluntary service. {GC88 493.2}

17. Lucifer the Highest Angel in Power and Glory Created Perfect

But there was one that chose to pervert this freedom. Sin originated with him, who, next to
Christ, had been most honored of God, and who stood highest in power and glory among the
inhabitants of Heaven. Before his fall, Lucifer was first of the covering cherubs, holy and
undefiled.

"Thus saith the Lord God: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering.”

"Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so; thou wast upon the
holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found

18. Self- Exaltation, Pride and Rebellion Entered his Heart

Lucifer might have remained in favor with God, beloved and honored by all the angelic
host, exercising his noble powers to bless others and to glorify his Maker. But, says the
prophet,
"Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason
of thy brightness." [EZE. 28:12-15, 17.]

Little by little, Lucifer came to indulge a desire for self-exaltation.

"Thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God." "Thou hast said: ... I will exalt my throne
above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation." "T will ascend
above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High." |EZE. 28:6; ISA. 14:13, 14.]

Instead of seeking to make God supreme in the affections and allegiance of his creatures, it
was Lucifer's endeavor to win their service and homage to himself. And, coveting the honor
which the infinite Father had bestowed upon his Son, this prince of angels aspired to power
which it was the prerogative of Christ alone to wield. {GC88 494.1}

19. Lucifer was Jealous of Christ

All Heaven had rejoiced to reflect the Creator's glory and to show forth his praise. And
while God was thus honored, all had been peace and gladness. But a note of discord now
marred the celestial harmonies. The service and exaltation of self, contrary to the Creator's
plan, awakened forebodings of evil in minds to whom God's glory was supreme. The
heavenly councils pleaded with Lucifer. The Son of God presented before him the greatness,
the goodness, and the justice of the Creator, and the sacred, unchanging nature of his law.
God himself had established the order of Heaven; and in departing from it, Lucifer would
dishonor his Maker, and bring ruin upon himself. But the warning, given in infinite love and
mercy, only aroused a spirit of resistance. Lucifer allowed jealousy of Christ to prevail, and
he became the more determined. {GC88 494.2}

20. Lucifer Wanted to Participate in Creation

Pride in his own glory nourished the desire for supremacy. The high honors conferred
upon Lucifer were not appreciated as the gift of God, and called forth no gratitude to the
Creator. He gloried in his brightness and exaltation, and aspired to be equal with God. He
was beloved and reverenced by the heavenly host. Angels delighted to execute his
commands, and he was clothed with wisdom and glory above them all. Yet the Son of God
was the acknowledged sovereign of Heaven, one in power and authority with the Father. In

all the counsels of God, Christ was a participant, while Lucifer was not permitted thus to
enter into the divine purposes. "Why," questioned this mighty angel, "should Christ have the
supremacy? Why is he thus honored above Lucifer?" {GC88 495.1}

21. Spirit of Discontent Among the Angels

Leaving his place in the immediate presence of God, Lucifer went forth to diffuse the spirit
of discontent among the angels. Working with mysterious secrecy, and for a time
concealing his real purpose under an appearance of reverence for God, he endeavoured to
excite dissatisfaction concerning the laws that governed heavenly beings, intimating that
they imposed an unnecessary restraint. Since their natures were holy, he urged that the
angels should obey the dictates of their own will. He sought to create sympathy for himself,
by representing that God had dealt unjustly with him in bestowing supreme honor upon
Christ. He claimed that in aspiring to greater power and honor he was not aiming at self-
exaltation, but was seeking to secure liberty for all the inhabitants of Heaven, that by this
means they might attain to a higher state of existence. {GC88 495.2}

22. The Controversy in Heaven Lasted for a Long Time

God, in his great mercy, bore long with Lucifer. He was not immediately degraded from his
exalted station when he first indulged the spirit of discontent, nor even when he began to
present his false claims before the loyal angels. Long was he retained in Heaven. Again and
again he was offered pardon, on condition of repentance and submission. Such efforts as
only infinite love and wisdom could devise, were made to convince him of his error. The
spirit of discontent had never before been known in Heaven. Lucifer himself did not at first
see whither he was drifting; he did not understand the real nature of his feelings.

But as his dissatisfaction was proved to be without cause, Lucifer was convinced that he
was in the wrong, that the divine claims were just, and that he ought to acknowledge them
as such before all Heaven. Had he done this, he might have saved himself and many angels.
He had not at this time fully cast off his allegiance to God. Though he had forsaken his
position as covering cherub, yet if he had been willing to return to God, acknowledging the
Creator's wisdom, and satisfied to fill the place appointed him in God's great plan, he would
have been re-instated in his office. But pride forbade him to submit. He persistently
defended his own course, maintained that he had no need of repentance, and fully
committed himself, in the great controversy, against his Maker. {GC88 495.3}

23. Master-Mind Now Bent to Deception

All the powers of his master-mind were now bent to the work of deception, to secure the
sympathy of the angels that had been under his command. Even the fact that Christ had
warned and counselled him, was perverted to serve his traitorous designs. To those whose

loving trust bound them most closely to him, Satan had represented that he was wrongly
judged, that his position was not respected, and that his liberty was to be abridged. From
misrepresentation of the words of Christ, he passed to prevarication and direct falsehood,
accusing the Son of God of a design to humiliate him before the inhabitants of Heaven. He
sought also to make a false issue between himself and the loyal angels.

All whom he could not subvert and bring fully to his side, he accused of indifference to the
interests of heavenly beings. The very work which he himself was doing, he charged upon
those who remained true to God. And to sustain his charge of God's injustice toward him,
he resorted to misrepresentation of the words and acts of the Creator. It was his policy to
perplex the angels with subtle arguments concerning the purposes of God. Everything that
was simple he shrouded in mystery, and by artful perversion cast doubt upon the plainest
statements of Jehovah. His high position, in such close connection with the divine
administration, gave greater force to his representations, and many were induced to unite
with him in rebellion against Heaven's authority. {GC88 496.1}

24. God’s Government Includes all the World He Has Created

God in his wisdom permitted Satan to carry forward his work, until the spirit of disaffection
ripened into active revolt. It was necessary for his plans to be fully developed, that their
true nature and tendency might be seen by all. Lucifer, as the anointed cherub, had been
highly exalted; he was greatly loved by the heavenly beings, and his influence over them
was strong. God's government included not only the inhabitants of Heaven, but of all the
worlds that he had created; and Satan thought that if he could carry the angels of Heaven
with him in rebellion, he could carry also the other worlds. He had artfully presented his
side of the question, employing sophistry and fraud to secure his objects. His power to
deceive was very great, and by disguising himself in a cloak of falsehood he had gained an
advantage. Even the loyal angels could not fully discern his character, or see to what his
work was leading. {GC88 497.1}

25. Satan Instilled Discontent in the Minds of Angels Under Him

Satan had been so highly honored, and all his acts were so clothed with mystery, that it was
difficult to disclose to the angels the true nature of his work. Until fully developed, sin
would not appear the evil thing it was. Heretofore it had had no place in the universe of
God, and holy beings had no conception of its nature and malignity. They could not discern
the terrible consequences that would result from setting aside the divine law. Satan had, at
first, concealed his work under a specious profession of loyalty to God. He claimed to be
seeking to promote the honor of God, the stability of his government, and the good of all the
inhabitants of Heaven. While instilling discontent into the minds of the angels under him, he
had artfully made it appear that he was seeking to remove dissatisfaction. When he urged

that changes be made in the order and laws of God's government, it was under the pretence
that these were necessary in order to preserve harmony in Heaven. {GC88 497.2}

26. The Reason for the Lasting Period of Evil One

In his dealing with sin, God could employ only righteousness and truth. Satan could use
what God could not--flattery and deceit. He had sought to falsify the word of God, and had
misrepresented his plan of government before the angels, claiming that God was not just in
laying laws and rules upon the inhabitants of Heaven; that in requiring submission and
obedience from his creatures, he was seeking merely the exaltation of himself. Therefore it
must be demonstrated before the inhabitants of Heaven as well as of all the worlds, that
God's government was just, his law perfect. Satan had made it appear that he himself was
seeking to promote the good of the universe. The true character of the usurper, and his real
object, must be understood by all. He must have time to manifest himself by his wicked
works. {GC88 498.1}

27. Unmasking of the Evil One

The discord which his own course had caused in Heaven, Satan charged upon the law and
government of God. All evil he declared to be the result of the divine administration. He
claimed that it was his own object to improve upon the statutes of Jehovah. Therefore it was
necessary that he should demonstrate the nature of his claims, and show the working out of
his proposed changes in the divine law. His own work must condemn him. Satan had
claimed from the first that he was not in rebellion. The whole universe must see the
deceiver unmasked. {GC88 498.2}

28. The Reason Why Lucifer was not Destroyed Immediately

Even when it was decided that he could no longer remain in Heaven, infinite wisdom did
not destroy Satan. Since the service of love can alone be acceptable to God, the allegiance of
his creatures must rest upon a conviction of his justice and benevolence. The inhabitants of
Heaven and of other worlds, being unprepared to comprehend the nature or consequences
of sin, could not then have seen the justice and mercy of God in the destruction of Satan.
Had he been immediately blotted from existence, they would have served God from fear,
rather than from love.

The influence of the deceiver would not have been fully destroyed, nor would the spirit of
rebellion have been utterly eradicated. Evil must be permitted to come to maturity. For the
good of the entire universe through ceaseless ages, Satan must more fully develop his
principles, that his charges against the divine government might be seen in their true light
by all created beings, that the justice and mercy of God and the immutability of his law
might forever be placed beyond all question. {GC88 498.3}

29. Lucifer’s Rebellion: A Lesson to the Universe

Satan's rebellion was to be a lesson to the universe through all coming ages, a perpetual
testimony to the nature and terrible results of sin. The working out of Satan's rule, its
effects upon both men and angels, would show what must be the fruit of setting aside the
divine authority. It would testify that with the existence of God's government and his law is
bound up the well-being of all the creatures he has made. Thus the history of this terrible
experiment of rebellion was to be a perpetual safeguard to all holy intelligences, to prevent
them from being deceived as to the nature of transgression, to save them from committing
sin, and suffering its punishment. {GC88 499.1}

30. Lucifer Denounced the Divine Statutes as a Restriction of Liberty

To the very close of the controversy in Heaven, the great usurper continued to justify
himself. When it was announced that with all his sympathizers he must be expelled from
the abodes of bliss, then the rebel leader boldly avowed his contempt for the Creator's law.
He reiterated his claim that angels needed no control, but should be left to follow their own
will, which would ever guide them right. He denounced the divine statutes as a restriction
of their liberty, and declared that it was his purpose to secure the abolition of law; that,
freed from this restraint, the hosts of Heaven might enter upon a more exalted, more
glorious state of existence. {GC88 499.2}

31. Same Spirit of Rebellion Inspires Rebellion on Earth

The same spirit that prompted rebellion in Heaven, still inspires rebellion on earth. Satan
has continued with men the same policy which he pursued with the angels. His spirit now
reigns in the children of disobedience. Like him they seek to break down the restraints of
the law of God, and promise men liberty through transgression of its precepts. Reproof of
sin still arouses the spirit of hatred and resistance.

justify themselves, and to seek the sympathy of others in their course of sin. Instead of
correcting their errors, they excite indignation against the reprover, as if he were the sole
cause of difficulty. From the days of righteous Abel to our own time, such is the spirit which
has been displayed toward those who dare to condemn sin. {GC88 500.2}

32. Satan Induces Man to Rebel Against the Law of God

By the same misrepresentation of the character of God as he had practiced in Heaven,
causing him to be regarded as severe and tyrannical, Satan induced man to sin. And having
succeeded thus far, he declared that God's unjust restrictions had led to man's fall, as they
had led to his own rebellion. {GC88 500.3}

33. Man Yielded to the Deception of the Apostate Spirit of Lucifer

In the banishment of Satan from Heaven, God declared his justice, and maintained the
honor of his throne. But when man had sinned through yielding to the deceptions of this
apostate spirit, God gave an evidence of his love by yielding up his only begotten Son to die
for the fallen race. In the atonement the character of God is revealed. The mighty argument
of the cross demonstrates to the whole universe that the course of sin which Lucifer had
chosen was in nowise chargeable upon the government of God. {GC88 500.5}

34. The Contest Between Christ and Satan

In the contest between Christ and Satan, during the Saviour's earthly ministry, the
character of the great deceiver was unmasked. Nothing could so effectually have uprooted
Satan from the affections of the heavenly angels and the whole loyal universe as did his
cruel warfare upon the world's Redeemer. The daring blasphemy of his demand that Christ
should pay him homage, his presumptuous boldness in bearing him to the mountain
summit and the pinnacle of the temple, the malicious intent betrayed in urging him to cast
himself down from the dizzy height, the unsleeping malice that hunted him from place to
place, inspiring the hearts of priests and people to reject his love, and at the last to cry,
"Crucify him! crucify him!"--all this excited the amazement and indignation of the universe.

35. Satan that prompted the world's rejection of Christ

It was Satan that prompted the world's rejection of Christ. The prince of evil exerted all his
power and cunning to destroy Jesus; for he saw that the Saviour's mercy and love, his
compassion and pitying tenderness, were representing to the world the character of God.
Satan contested every claim put forth by the Son of God, and employed men as his agents to
fill the Saviour's life with suffering and sorrow. The sophistry and falsehood by which he
had sought to hinder the work of Jesus, the hatred manifested through the children of
disobedience, his cruel accusations against Him whose life was one of unexampled
goodness, all sprung from deep-seated revenge. The pent-up fires of envy and malice,
hatred and revenge, burst forth on Calvary against the Son of God, while all Heaven gazed
upon the scene in silent horror. {GC88 501.2}

36. Only at the Cross, the Unfallen World Saw the Wickedness of Lucifer
When the great sacrifice had been consummated, Christ ascended on high, refusing the
adoration of angels until he had presented the request, "I will that they also, whom thou
hast given me, be with me where I am." [JOHN 17:24.] Then with inexpressible love and
power came forth the answer from the Father's throne, "Let all the angels of God worship
him." [HEB. 1:6.] Not a stain rested upon Jesus. His humiliation ended, his sacrifice
completed, there was given unto him a name that is above every name. {GC88 502.1}

37. Only Bondage and Degradation

Now the guilt of Satan stood forth without excuse. He had revealed his true character as a
liar and a murderer. It was seen that the very same spirit with which he ruled the children
of men, who were under his power, he would have manifested had he been permitted to
control the inhabitants of Heaven. He had claimed that the transgression of God's law
would bring liberty and exaltation; but it was seen to result in bondage and degradation.

38. Hosts of Rebellion will be Speechless

In the final execution of the Judgment it will be seen that no cause for sin exists. When the
Judge of all the earth shall demand of Satan, "Why hast thou rebelled against me, and
robbed me of the subjects of my kingdom?" the originator of evil can render no excuse.
Every mouth will be stopped, and all the hosts of rebellion will be speechless. {GC88 503.2}

39. The Bible Speaks of Satan and his Domain Here on Earth
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the
spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience....". Ephesians 2:1-2.

"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs,
and lying wonders" II Thessalonians 2:9.

"And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it
is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness,
whose end will be according to their works" II Corinthians 11:14.
40. The Way of Christ Coming
"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which
are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord
in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord" I Thessalonians 4:16, 17.

41. Events that will Unfold at the End of Time

"The wrath of Satan increases as his time grows short, and his work of deceit and
destruction will reach its culmination in the time of trouble. Fearful sights of supernatural
character will soon be revealed in the heavens, in token of the power of miracle-working

42. Satan Used a Colorful, dazzling, Flying Creature to Deceive our First Parents

"In order to accomplish his work unperceived, Satan chose to employ as his medium the
serpent--a disguise well adapted for his purpose of deception. The serpent was then one of
the wisest and most beautiful creatures on the earth. It had wings, and while flying through
the air presented an appearance of dazzling brightness, having color and brilliancy of
burnished gold. Resting in the rich-laden branches of the forbidden tree and regaling itself
with the delicious fruit, it was an object to arrest the attention and delight the eye of the
beholder. Thus in the garden of peace lurked the destroyer, watching for his prey"
Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapter 3.

43. Modern Spiritualism and Fearful Sights of Spiritual Character

"For years Spiritualism [a ghost-like spirit existing separate from the body] has been
growing in strength and gaining in popularity by advocating a certain kind of faith in Christ,
and thus many Protestants are becoming infatuated with this mystery of iniquity. It is little
wonder that they are deluded, when they persistently retain the error that, as soon as the
breath leaves the body, the spirit goes immediately to heaven or hell. Through the hold this
doctrine has upon them, the way is prepared for the delusive working of the prince of the
power of the air. Satan personated the serpent in Eden, regarding this creature as best
adapted for his line of temptations. Satan has been increasing in skillful methods by
constantly practicing upon the human mind. It is his one purpose to complete the work
which he began in Eden, and work the ruin of mankind" Signs of the Times, 5-28-1894.

44. UFO’ Last Day Deception Upon Mankind

Back around 1980 or so, the late George Vandeman, was speaking on UFO's and made the
comment that Satan can take the actual materialistic form or makeup of anything, including
man, UFO, etc.; or he take a ghost-like form. Pastor Vandeman theorized that Satan was
forming these UFO's for some type of last-day deception upon mankind.

45. Excerpt from Psychic Roulette Written by George Vandeman

John Keel was a typical hard-boiled skeptic when he decided, in 1966, to launch a full-time

investigation of UFO's. He had sneered at the occult and scoffed at many of the reports of
saucer sightings. He determined to bring to ufology" a strictly scientific approach. It was
not many months, however, until the phenomenon began to zero in on him, as it had with
so many others. Things began to happen. First it was his telephone, with mysterious
strangers calling day and night with bizarre messages allegedly from the space people. He
kept rendezvous with black Cadillacs that disappeared on dead-end roads. He was called
out in the middle of the night to go on silly wild-goose chases to-rescue-some contactee in
trouble. Luminous objects in the sky seemed to follow him like shadows. They seemed to

know where he had been and where he was going. He would cheek into a motel to find a
reservation already made in his name, with a string of nonsensical messages. Even his
friends began to have strange experiences. And more than once he awoke in the night to
find himself paralyzed with a huge dark apparition standing over him.

At first he questioned his own sanity. But then, as he traveled through some twenty states
to check innumerable UFO reports, he saw a pattern emerging. He talked with many silent
contactees people whose stories had never been published. But while their stories were
varied, they all suffered from the same physiological and psychological symptoms. Through
these contactees he actually entered into communication with the entities behind the
phenomenon. He talked with them by telephone, sometimes for hours. He wasted months
playing games with these entities, searching for UFO bases that didn't exist and trying to
find ways to protect frightened witnesses from-men in black.- He was led, step by step,
from skepticism to belief. And then, surprisingly, from belief back to unbelief. John Keel's
research took four years, seven days a week, without a vacation. But he discovered some
things that we need to know. In fact, our destiny could depend upon knowing them.

The first thing he discovered was that the phenomenon was far more widespread than he,
or probably anyone else, had thought. When he began his work in March 1966, he
subscribed to several newspaper clipping services. He often received as many as 150
clippings in a single day. But he soon found that literally thousands of sightings were being
reported by ordinary citizens but never published at all. More than 10,000 clippings and
reports reached him in 1966. Yet the Air Force claimed to have received only 1000 reports
during that same period. In March-April 1967 published UFO sightings outstripped all
previous years. He received more than 2000 clippings and reports in March alone and
investigated many of them firsthand. Yet the major news media simply ignored the flap, or
didn't know it was happening. The official government position may have been responsible
for this general indifference.

Now it was easy to explain away the sightings by attributing them to stars and meteors and
swamp gas. These explanations might satisfy most people except the five million Americans
who., in a 1966 Gallup poll, admitted personal sightings. You might question the reliability
of some witnesses. But what about all the pilots and police officers and other known
reputables? For instance, on the night of August 2- 3, 1965, an estimated quarter of a
million people in the Great Plains states stood outside and watched formations of unusual
lights maneuvering overhead. These were seen with the naked eye and with a variety of
instruments. They were tracked on radar. They were photographed by amateurs and
professionals. They followed planes. The next morning came the official explanation. They
had seen four stars in the constellation Orion. A pilot commented wryly, last night was the

first time in my life that I have flown across Nebraska with three stars under my right
wing!"

The truth is that this generation, with its present space orientation and with its
technological advance is a setup for the idea of visitors from other worlds. And some
evidence has seemed to fit into that theory. For instance, they seem to know everything
about us, even the intimate secrets of our past lives. The "ufonauts" have repeatedly
claimed to be from other worlds. And, just as in the sceance, these "ufonauts" have urged
this supernatural knowledge of the contactees as proof of their claim. They know the
geography of the borders of our states. They speak our language. However, in some cases
they speak a strange language which the contactees have never heard but seem
immediately to understand. This strange language turns up again and again, and seems to
be directly related to the religions phenomenon of speaking in tongues.

The most popular theory has been that the UFOs are extraterrestrial visitors from other
planets. This idea has had strong emotional appeal to the cultists. The government has
rejected this theory, making itself the bad guy in the eyes of the cultists. It has seemed that
the sky was full of flying objects with the cultists trying to let them in, and the churches and
the government trying to keep them out. Unfortunately, the extraterrestrial theory,
however charming, is negated by the mass of evidence now available. But this has in no
way weakened its hold upon the cultists.

At the beginning of his research John Keel had hoped that sound scientific evidence might
support the extraterrestrial theory. However, by early 1967 he began to hint in print that
something more complex might be the answer. His rejection of the outer-space hypothesis
made him a target for the wrath and suspicion of the cultists. Rumors were circulated that
he was a CIA agent. Contactees began to whisper that the real John Keel had been
kidnapped by a saucer. And some of his correspondents even checked his current signature
to see if it was genuine. But back to the patterns. Sightings can be divided into two class
identifications-hard- and "soft."

Sightings of hard objects seemingly solid and metallic-have always been quite rare. The
majority of all sightings throughout history are in the-soft-category. They are luminous,
transparent, translucent. They change size and shape before the eyes of the witnesses. They
appear and disappear suddenly. The "soft" sightings are far more numerous and appear to
be the real phenomenon. Not only do these multitudinous objects change size and shape,
but they sometimes seem to split into smaller objects, each going off in a separate direction.

Witnesses, again and again, have confided, "You know, | don't think that thing I saw was
mechanical at all. I got the distinct impression that it was alive!" These "soft" objects seem
to be able to assume any form they choose, from giant cylindrical spaceships to little green

men! On the other hand, there is evidence that seemingly hard solid objects do exist. Bullets
have been fired at them and have ricocheted off. They have left imprints on the ground.
They have an astounding habit of losing pieces of metal. They seem to be poorly
constructed, always falling apart. Hundreds of witnesses say they have stumbled upon
these hard objects, grounded, being repaired by their pilots. One wonders if these incidents
are not deliberate intended to promote the belief that UFOs are real and mechanical.

But here is the problem. While many descriptions of the soft, luminous, flexible objects are
exactly the same, it is extremely rare to find two descriptions of a hard, metallic object that
match. And the variety of types and descriptions of these hard objects is of such a quantity
as to be absolutely staggering. Are all these people lying? Or are we to believe that people
on other planets are manufacturing literally thousands of different types of spacecraft and
sending them all our way? Hardly! Then when you add the sightings of soft, luminous
objects, which are infinitely more numerous, the scope of the phenomenon becomes so
overwhelming, the sightings so unbelievable in quantity, that it negates any possibility that
UFOs have come from other planets - or even that they exist at all!

How can you investigate something that does not exist? You study the contactees, the
people that see them. You investigate them not by checking on their reliability, which has
been done for years and proved to be a dead-end street. In most cases their reliability is
beyond question. These people really believe that they have seen spaceships and talked
with space people. When you forget the sightings, which individually are unimportant
anyway, and put the witnesses under a microscope, the mystery begins to clear. When you
stop questioning their truthfulness and study the medical and psychological effects of their
experiences, the pieces begin to fall in place.

For immediately it is evident that -strange things happen to the contactees. For one thing,
the contactees are continually receiving messages. The endless stream of messages from
the space people would now fill a library. And while the senders of these messages claim to
be from other worlds, it is significant that the content of the messages is identical to
messages that have long been received by mediums and mystics. And strange things
happen. The lives of contactees are disrupted by nightmares and hallucinations. Their
telephones and TV sets go berserk. They are frightened by poltergeists-noisy, invisible
ghosts. Objects vanish and are found in outlandish places. Stones may fall from the ceiling.
Some contactees begin to experience a personality deterioration soon after their first
contact.

One fact seems to emerge. The UFOs, and the entities, can apparently be seen only under
certain circumstances. And it may be that only certain types of people can see them at all.
Specific types of people seem to be more susceptible to involvement. And often these

people seem to be hooked, and actually manipulated, by the phenomenon. It is no wonder

that investigating the reliability of witnesses accomplishes nothing. For only rarely is a
contactee being untruthful. Evidently it is the "ufonauts," not the contactees, who are lying.

The clues multiply. And the conclusion that a relationship exists between UFO activity and
the occult is inescapable. The messages are the same. The literature is parallel. There are
the same simpleminded descriptions of life on other planets or other planes. The UFO
entities are strangely like those that operate in the sceance. The same forces seem to be at
work with the same patterns, the same hoaxes, and the same underlying purposes.
Contactees suffer the same medical and emotional symptoms as victims of demon
possession. The devils and demons of yesteryear seem to be appearing now as long-haired

Venusians. The entity who appears in a sceance is regarded as the spirit of one dead. But if
the same spirit strides out of the bushes in a metallic skullcap, lie is considered a spaceman.

Is the UFO phenomenon simply an updated, space-age manifestation of the occult? It would
seem so. How else do you account for the fact that charts of UFO activity and of poltergeist
manifestation in the nineteenth century are strangely parallel? In some cases the activity
was simultaneous. In some instances the poltergeists preceded the UFOs by a few months.
Why is it that one of the greatest concentrations of UFOs ever reported was over the home
of a South American psychic healer? Why is it that mediums and UFO contactees receive the
same messages, and make the same predictions? Is it only coincidence?

Or are they tuned in to the same source? Evidently the real UFO story is a story of ghosts
and phantoms, of unreality that seems hauntingly real, and of strange forces that are
actually able to manipulate the minds of the contactees. These contactees are not the liars.
They are the victims. They believe what they are told. But much of the information is
deliberately false. Why? Possibly just to confuse us. Possibly to imbed the extraterrestrial
belief more deeply in the minds of the contactees at the same time disarming the rest of us
into a conviction that it is all a hoax that never happened.

It is a question which group is in the greater peril. These unseen powers are somehow able
to manipulate the circuits of the mind so that people see what the entities want them to see,
and remember what they want them to remember. The contactees are not insane. Far from
it. But some are being driven insane by the frightening, ruthless powers that have taken
over their lives. They fall prey to all sorts of strange experiences, and may eventually suffer
a complete deterioration of personality. This manipulation, this possession, this hypnotic
control, results in some strange tales. There are wild accounts of interrupted journeys,
rides on spaceships, visits to other planets, experiences that seemed to take hours but
registered no time on the clock. These non-events are of no importance. It is possible that
an outsider coming silently upon the scene of a UFO contact would see the contactee
standing in a rigid trance.

Satan is saving the real role for himself. But in these rehearsals we get a hint of what the
real show is to be. One of the leading spiritualists in England has actually recorded a voice
purporting to be from a spaceship hovering about the earth. It is a voice that makes your
spine tingle-the sweetest voice you ever heard. And it says, My little children, I am about to
return according to my promise. Do you see what is going on? Jesus plainly warned that He
would be impersonated in the last days. He said, "Then if anyone tells you, 'The Messiah has
arrived at such and such a place, or has appeared here or there,’ don't believe it. For false
Christ’s shall arise, and false prophets, and will do wonderful miracles, so that if it were
possible, even God's chosen ones would be deceived. See, I have warned you. So if someone
tells you the Messiah has returned and is out in the desert, don't bother to go and look. Or,
that He is hiding at a certain place, don't believe it! For as the lightning flashes across the
sky from east to west, so shall my coming be, when, the Messiah, return."

Evidently this is no crude or clumsy delusion. This is no trick. This is something big.
Something big enough to deceive almost everybody. Everybody that isn't fortified with the
knowledge, obtained from Scripture, of the manner in which the real Christ will come. For
when the real Christ descends from the blazing skies, it will be visible from east to west, as
visible as the lightning. Every eye in the world will be watching as He comes close to the
earth, calls the dead to life, and catches His people up to meet Him without His feet ever
touching the earth. It won't be an isolated event. God will permit Satan to go a long

way with his tricks and his games. But He will never permit him to duplicate the way in
which the Son of God returns to this earth.

Now, I have no inside information whatever as to just how the enemy will try to pull off his
second-coming stunt. But I don't think he is simply going to appear somewhere in a
sceance. Or rent a hall and advertise a meeting. Or pick up a few million followers
somewhere. How many people does that fool? Most of us would only smile and forget it. I
do not know that a space ship will be involved in this final hoax. I do not have that
information. But I ask you, ‘Would an enemy so intelligent, so cunning, so angry, and so
desperate, fail to take advantage of a build-up like this?’ Would he pass by such a
conditioning of minds and simply turn up out in Death Valley or on the streets of
Minneapolis and announce that he is Christ? Would he bypass all the careful preparation?

Would he try to fool a generation like ours - so oriented to space travel as we are, and so
saturated with talk of UFOs - without any tie whatever to those things which fill so many
minds? Hardly! Why all the buildup? Why the decades, and even centuries, of orientation to
the idea of ships from out there? Why the ready network of sensitives and contactees with
their part already rehearsed? It seems incredible to me that all these, so prominent in the

preparation, should be left out when the show runs for real. The world today is a pushover
for a space-related deception. The cults, ready to believe anything that smacks of the
supernatural, are already in the bag. And those who have scoffed at the saucers and the
prophets and the ghosts are just as easily snared. For their scoffing has left them
unprepared. They find out too late that devils can work miracles after all.

Who is left? Who is safe? Not very many. Only those who have read the Book, and believed
it more than their eyes and their ears-even when the storm seemed to be sweeping
everything stable away. One discerning writer, many years ago, described that critical day:

As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ...

Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts of the
earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness,

resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. The glory that
surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of
triumph rings out upon the air, 'Christ has come! Christ has come! The people prostrate
themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts up his hands, and pronounces a blessing
upon them, as Christ blessed his disciples when He was upon the earth. His voice is soft and
subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same
gracious, heavenly truths which the Savior uttered; he heals the diseases of the people, and
then, in his assumed character of Christ, he claims to have changed the [law of God].... This
is the strong, almost overmastering delusion.

There he stands, this being of dazzling brightness. If men ask their eyes, who is it? Jesus. If
they ask their ears, who is it? Jesus. If they ask their feelings, who is it? Jesus. And so almost
everybody, will bow down before the master impostor, victims of the ultimate hoax toward
which centuries of cosmic games have been leading!

Nephilim: Reality or Fiction

Comments and Conclusion Part I to V

After listening to different videos, perusing books and material on the Nephilim, I felt
impressed to do this research bringing together an array of different scholars’ opinions and
ideas on the Nephilim. The following comments are based on the Bible and the Spirit of
Prophecy inspired writings which concur with Hebrew scholars, pastors and students of
the Word which have passed away but left their marks along with present day writers and
researchers. While you may not agree with these comments and conclusion, I hope it will
open the door of discussion on this very controversial subject: Who were the Nephilim?
Have they really existed? Could we see a manifestation of their presence today in our
midst? The answers proposed are accompanied by a bullet.

Part I Nephilim in the Hebrew Bible

1. Who Were the Sons of God in Genesis 6:1-4? Fallen Angels or Human Beings?

Offspring of Seth -- The Qumran (Dead sea) scroll fragment 4Q417 (4QInstruction)
contains the earliest known reference to the phrase "children of Seth", stating that God has
condemned them for their rebellion. (Nonetheless, a few commentators dispute the
interpretation of this reference.) Other early references to the offspring of Seth rebelling
from God and mingling with the daughters of Cain are found in rabbi Shimon bar Yochai,
Augustine of Hippo, Julius Africanus, and the Letters attributed to St. Clement. It is also the
view expressed in the modern canonical Amharic Ethiopian Orthodox Bible.

e I concur with -- Those who honoured and feared to offend God, at first felt the
curse but lightly; while those who turned from God and trampled upon his
authority, felt the effects of the curse more heavily, especially in stature and
nobleness of form. The descendants of Seth were called the sons of God--the
descendants of Cain, the sons of men. As the sons of God mingled with the sons of
men, they became corrupt, and by intermarriage with them, lost, through the
influence of their wives, their peculiar, holy character, and united with the sons of
Cain in their idolatry. Many cast aside the fear of God, and trampled upon his
commandments. But there were a few that did righteousness, who feared and

2. Who Corrupted Themselves With the Daughters of Men in Genesis 6:1-4?

Some say the Fallen Angels -- The New American Bible commentary draws a parallel to
the Epistle of Jude and the statements set forth in Genesis, suggesting that the Epistle refers
implicitly to the paternity of Nephilim as heavenly beings who came to earth and had
sexual intercourse with women.[21] The footnotes of the Jerusalem Bible suggest that the
Biblical author intended the Nephilim to be an "anecdote of a superhuman race".[22]
Genesis 6:4 implies that the Nephilim have inhabited the earth in at least two different time
periods—in antediluvian times "and afterward." If the Nephilim were supernatural beings
themselves, or at least the progeny of supernatural beings, it is possible that the "giants of
Canaan" in Book of Numbers 13:33 were the direct descendants of the antediluvian
Nephilim, or were fathered by the same supernatural parents.

Some Christian commentators have argued against this view, [23] citing Jesus' statement
that angels do not marry. [24] Others believe that Jesus was only referring to angels in
heaven. [25]

e I Concur With -- The descendants of Seth had separated themselves from the
wicked descendants of Cain. They cherished the knowledge of God's will, while the
ungodly race of Cain had no respect for God and his sacred commandments. But
when men multiplied upon the earth, the descendants of Seth saw that the daughters
of the descendants of Cain were very beautiful, and they departed from God and
displeased him by taking wives as they chose of the idolatrous race of Cain. 1 Spirit of

3. Who were the Nephilim and what was their origin?

Some say - In Numbers 13:32-33 they are a race of giants native to Canaan. The idea that
there were giants in Canaan when the Israelites arrived is found elsewhere, for example in
Amos 2:9, where Yahweh reminds the prophet that he "destroyed the Amorites before you,
whose height was as the height of cedar trees".[8] The two are tied together by Genesis 6:4,
"the nephilim were on the earth in those days (before the Flood), and also after," and most
later compositions and translations, including the Septuagint, therefore understand the
Nephilim to be giants.[9]

The nature of the nephilim is complicated by the ambiguity of Genesis 6:4, "the sons of God
joined with the daughters of humankind, who bore them children - they were the ancient
warriors, the men of renown." Richard Hess in The Anchor Bible Dictionary takes it as read
that the nephilim are the offspring,[10] as does P. W. Coxon in Dictionary of deities and
demons in the Bible[11] See page 3, par. 2, 3 of this research.

Other belief the Book of Enoch, Book of Jubilees, and Watcher (Angel)

The story of the Nephilim is chronicled more fully in the Book of Enoch. The Greek,
Aramaic, and main Ge'ez manuscripts of 1 Enoch and Jubilees obtained in the 19th century
and held in the British Museum and Vatican Library, connect the origin of the Nephilim with
the fallen angels, and in particular with the egrégoroi (watchers). Samyaza, an angel of high
rank, is described as leading a rebel sect of angels in a descent to earth to have sexual
intercourse with human females:

And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born
unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw
and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among
the children of men and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto
them: 7 fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the
penalty ofa great sin.'

And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by
mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.’ Then swear they all
together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two
hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they
called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual
imprecations upon it...

According to these texts, the fallen angels who begat the Nephilim were cast into Tartarus
(Greek Enoch 20:2) [27], a place of 'total darkness’. However, Jubilees also states that God
granted ten percent of the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim to remain after the flood, as
demons, to try to lead the human race astray (through idolatry, the occult, etc.) until the
final Judgment.

In addition to Enoch, the Book of Jubilees (7:21-25) also states that ridding the Earth of
these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding the Earth in Noah's time. These
works describe the Nephilim as being evil giants.
Targum Pseudo-Jonathan identifies the Nephilim as Shemihaza and the angels in the name
list from 1 Enoch. [28] b Yoma 67, PRE22 and 1 QapGen ar ii 1 also identify the Nephilim as
the angels that fell. There are also allusions to these descendants in the Catholic
deuterocanonical books of Judith 16:6, Sirach, Sirach 16:7, Baruch 3:26-28, and Wisdom of
Solomon 14:6, and in the non-deuterocanonical 3 Maccabees 2:4.

But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by
the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the

image of God, and caused confusion everywhere. God purposed to destroy by a flood
that powerful, long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before him. He would
not suffer them to live out the days of their natural life, which would be hundreds of
years. It was only a few generations back when Adam had access to that tree which
was to prolong life. After his disobedience he was not suffered to eat of the tree of life
and perpetuate a life of sin. In order for man to possess an endless life he must
continue to eat of the fruit of the tree of life. Deprived of that tree, his life would

After the Flood: Amalgamation of Man and Beast

Every species of animal which God created was preserved in the ark. The confused
species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were
destroyed by the flood. Since the flood, there has been amalgamation of man and
beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in

Comment:

It can be seen as one read Part V of this research that Lucifer’s rebellion was against Christ
as he was not admitted in the counsels of the Most High but Christ was. The plan of
Creation was not revealed to Lucifer, but through his great intelligence and knowledge, he
purposed to create his own beings in order to deface the character of God in man and destroy
the seed of the woman as mentioned in Genesis 3:15 which would be the progenitors of
Messiah. This is why Lucifer inspired men before and after Creation to our day, to mix the
species in disobedience to the strict command of the Creator. Thus the declaration: Since
the flood, there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost
endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men. {1SP 78.3}.

The Nephilim were giants from the amalgamation of beasts and men, through which the
fallen angels manifested themselves as they were neither human nor animals.

Conclusion Part I

The Sons of God mentioned in the book of Genesis 6:1-4 were the descendants of Seth. They
mingled their seeds with the wicked and rebellious descendants of Cain and reproduced
giants which are the Nephilim prior to the flood as well as gigantic animals which the
Creator did not preserve in the ark, namely the dinosaurs because they were reproduced
through amalgamation inspired by Lucifer through which he and his fallen angels
manifested themselves to humanity till the flood.

After the flood, the mixing of the species between man and animals continued and
produced a race the Creator did not approve through the line of Sham and Nimrod and
which Moses and Joshua were ordered to destroy, which were the Canaanites of old. David
had encounters with the Philistines giant warriors, of which Goliath was the descendant of
the Anakim, another race of giants reproduced through amalgamation of DNA. Lucifer and
his fallen angels were able to manifest themselves through those species he was proud to
have created by mixing man and beast seeds.

Who Were the Nephilim? Lucifer, Father of Cain?

Serpent seed, dual seed or two-seedline is a controversial doctrine according to which the
serpent in the Garden of Eden mated with Eve, and the offspring of their union was Cain.
This belief is still held by some adherents of the Christian Identity theology, who claim that
the Jews, as descendants of Cain, are also descended from the serpent.[1][2] The idea has
also existed in several other non-racial contexts, and major proponents include Daniel
Parker (1781-1844),[3] William M. Branham (1909-1965)[4] and Arnold Murray (1929-

)-[5]

The doctrine that Eve mated with the serpent, or with Satan, to produce Cain also appears
in early Gnostic writings such as the Gospel of Philip (c. 350); however, this teaching was
explicitly rejected as heresy by Irenaeus (c. 180) and later mainstream Christian
theologians. A similar doctrine appeared in Jewish midrashic texts in the 9th century and in
the Kabalah. It is considered a false doctrine by mainstream Protestant denominations.
[6][7] Catholic theologians point to the fact that the Bible states that the original sin is that
of Adam and Eve eating a forbidden fruit. [8]

The doctrine of the Serpent's Seed is followed by several minor Christian groups, the
followers of Branhamism, Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarian Baptists, and some of the
Christian Identity Movement among others [Dr. Joye Pugh is promoting such falsehood on
u-tube.]. There are variations and differences between these groups but the basic belief is
that the Original Sin was an act of sexual intercourse between Adam and Eve and, prior to
that act, Eve was sexually seduced by the serpent and committed sexual intercourse with
the serpent; further, that Cain was conceived by the act with the serpent and Abel by the
act with Adam.

Christ. Ultimately Seth's line leads to Jesus, who was born of a virgin. Proponents point to
the fact that all humanity was impure and therefore incapable of "breeding" a "pure" Son of
God as the reason Christ had to be born of a virgin. Many proponents claim that Christ was
born in the same state that Adam was created: perfect and without sin. They claim he had
to be created by God in order for him to be pure and to be the "perfect sacrifice".

Comment:

Nothing can be further from the truth but I wanted to add this point on my research as it
relates to the nature of Christ and may explain the opposite position many take regarding
the fact that Christ was tempted as we are yet without sin and attempt to explain His
nature through this approach:

We know that Christ was born with the 2 natures: the lower nature or lower power of:
passion, appetite, desire at the cerebellum area and the higher nature or higher power at
the frontal lobe area of: reason, conscience and intellect. At His birth, He had the lower
nature of Adam after sin, which could be affected by sin: He was hungry, tired, sad and was
under the curse of death because He accepted to bare our sins and our fallen lower nature.

But He took the higher nature of Adam (moral character) before sin and was never infected
by sin because never once did He ever give in to Lucifer. According to James 1, we sin
through the mind, the higher nature: of intellect, reason and conscience, not through the
lower nature. We are tempted through the lower nature: of passion, appetites and desire.
But, temptation is not sinned as long as it is not conceived through the higher power of the
mind.

Conclusion:
Part II is not an acceptable doctrine and does not concur with any of the Bible or SOP

Part III Research by Marzulli, Horn and Stearman

A. The Watchers, by LA Marzulli

Marzulli makes a compelling case for interdimensional visitation as opposed to

extraterrestrial visitation. “The Watchers” asks a number of questions. What proof do you
have that these UFOs are truly not of this world? Are people interacting with aliens NOW?
What is the difference between orbs and crafts? Why are people so willing to believe that
these entities want to be our friends? And perhaps most important - what ELSE is
happening?

Marzulli isn’t your run of the mill researcher spouting this theory and that. While there are
hundreds of UFO sightings across the planet every month, the percentage of people who
report actually seeing one is still relatively small. However, Marzulli and his wife have
actually had a UFO encounter and he describes it in “The Watchers”.

Marzulli says that there’s just too much compelling evidence, making it impossible for
anyone NOT to admit that these craft and orbs are not of this world. The governments of
the UK, France, Mexico, Belgium, Brazil and others are all releasing evidence, disclosing
their findings. And as for proof, Marzulli points to Edgar Mitchell, a former Apollo astronaut
who says that he’s seen UFOs, Roswell was real, there WAS a crash, bodies WERE recovered
and our government has covered it all up.

One important question that “The Watchers” asks is why do people assume these beings
are benevolent? The video has some detailed footage of cattle mutilations that certainly
can’t be called a ‘friendly encounter’. And what of the human mutilations that have been
reported? The abductions and sexual experimentation?

Marzulli warns that, because we have no previous experience with this paradigm, we’re
quick to assume that these entities are just here to study us and learn about us. And he says
we have television, movies, books and video games to blame for it. The media all make
aliens appear sweet and friendly but there’s overwhelming evidence pointing to the
contrary.

And interview with Dr. Roger Leir, included in the video, brings this point home with
alarming clarity. Leir has surgically removed some 17 implanted ‘devices’ from people who
claim to be alien abductees. And what he’s learned from these devices is scary as hell. While
most people assume that these people have been implanted for the benevolent purpose of
being able to track us and learn more about our habits, Leir believes, after careful research,
that these devices have a far more sinister reason for being.

In “The Watchers,” Marzulli describes and explains the classic alien abduction scenario in
frightening detail, Leir provides footage of the surgical removal of alien implants, and we
see examples of cattle mutilations that will make your skin crawl. For those of you who
think E.T. Is going to step out of the ship with his arms open wide and his heart light
glowing, think again. There’s just too much evidence to the contrary. Marzulli’s arguments
are just too compelling NOT to consider that these entities are anything but inter-
dimensional beings, the Fallen Angels, and they don’t necessarily want to be our friends.

When the protagonist in Avatar becomes one of the Navi, is he still human? What is the
soul? Where does it reside? What is human? We are told that when the Israelites entered
the promised land they were to wipe out certain tribes and burn everything. I believe the
mandate came because there was a second incursion of fallen angels, and that much of the
same thing that we find in Genesis 6 was happening again thousands of years later. There
are those who do not believe in a second incursion, and thus do not believe that the fallen
angels are conducting a breeding program today. I couldn’t disagree more with them, as
theirs is a truncated view, in my opinion. But back to what is human.

As I mentioned, when the Israelites entered the promised land they were told to wipe out
certain inhabitants that were there. I believe it was because there were Nephilim, and
chimera’s inhabiting the land. I believe that the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim,
resulting from the flood, are what we call demons. To me a film like this [Splice] is another
indicator that we are fast approaching the Time of Jacob’s Trouble. In other words, this
mimics what happened in the Days of Noah. I’m willing to bet, the hybrid is destroyed in
the movie, but perhaps it has an offspring and that will set up the sequel. In closing todays
post, God is allowing man to slip as far into the abyss as he is willing to go, just look around
at what is happening. A 7.2 earthquake yesterday, volcano’s erupting, wars and rumors of
wars, Oil spills, economic uncertainty and finally movies that blur the line of our humanity.
Is this more business as usual, or are these events pointing to His return. For those of us
who have eyes to see, He can’t be far off...

B. Dr. Thomas Horn - Nephilim Stargates

One myth from the history of every great civilization spoke of beings descending from
heaven and using human and animal DNA to create giant offspring. Rabbinical authorities,
Septuagint translators and early church fathers understood this as a factual record of
history. The phenomenon began with the “Watchers” who spawned “Nephilim” resulting in
judgment from God. The ancients also knew Bible passages that predict the Nephilim will
return when Iraq and Iran are invaded and destroyed. Is this prophecy about to be fulfilled?
Is man, in his rush to play god through biological weapons, biotechnology, and genetic
manipulation, opening gateways to a supernatural unknown? Nephilim Stargates and the

eye on what sages and scientists believe and what futurists and prophets may fear.

Nephilim Stargates: The Year 2012 And The Return Of The Watchers

Over the last 100 years, it has been well documented that there are things happening in our
world that just cannot be explained. Actually, it has been going on much longer than 100
years--in reality, since the beginning of time itself. Conventional science has maintained,
and would have us to believe, that nothing is going on--other than over-active imaginations
or those suffering from severe cases of ADD. However, there are just too many witnesses
and sources that have verified that many of these are real occurrences. The many sightings
of UFOs, otherworldly beings and strange creatures by reliable witnesses have really
happened. But, if they're real, what are they?

Some would have us to believe that these beings and those controlling the unidentified
objects are simply benevolent beings that only wish to help humanity. But is that the case?
Or, is it all part of a grand scheme of deception? In his new book, Nephilim Stargates: The
Year 2012 And The Return Of The Watchers, Tom Horn delivers a wealth of research and
information, both historical and current, that these are not benevolent creatures from
another galaxy. Rather, they are ancient, evil beings from the spiritual dimension.

Tom Horn holds no punches in describing what he believes, in light of the Bible, are the
plans of these beings. There are no flights of fancy here, only vividly frightening nightmares
that few wish to accept as being real. We have a hard time comprehending how evil, evil
really is. So, instead of accepting the truth, we tend to dismiss it out of hand. But, it's hard to
dismiss what is actually taking place when it is placed directly in front of you as it is here.
No one can deny that current events are rapidly leading us to an extraordinary and
potentially cataclysmic event. And, if Tom Horn is right, then surely we are living in the Last
Days as described in the Word of God.

Jesus Himself, in answering His disciples concerning the signs of His coming and of the end
of the world, said it would be “as the days of [Noah] were” (Matthew 24:37). The
implication is, just as it was before the Flood when the spirits of Nephilim were powerful
upon earth (Genesis 6:4), mankind would experience an end-times renaissance of the
influence of these entities. From Scripture we are made to understand the purpose of this
latter-day wave of supernaturalism includes deception (2 Timothy 3:13), and the effect
upon mankind would be so successful that heresy and delusion would become firmly
entrenched—even within institutionalized Christianity. In writing of this scenario, Paul
prophesied to Timothy that “in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1).

Based on contemporary developments, the foretold increase in demonism and its influence
within secular and religious society is rapidly unfolding this century—abruptly,
dramatically, and suspiciously. In a recent edition of Prophecy in the News magazine,
biblical scholar Gary Stearman agreed, stating in disturbing language how the
manifestation of these powers are quickening now because the world is under conditions
“in which the influence of God’s Holy Spirit is diminishing.” |i] This is apparent not only in
metaphysics, but within science and technology, where genetic engineering and trans-
humanist aspirations seem literally hell-bent on repeating what the Watchers did in giving
birth to the spirits of Nephilim as in the days of Noah.

The First Time Nephilim Appeared on Earth

As far back as the beginning of time and within every major culture of the ancient world,
the astonishingly consistent story is told of “gods” who descended from heaven and
materialized in bodies of flesh. From Rome to Greece—and before that, to Egypt, Persia,
Assyria, Babylonia, and Sumer—the earliest records of civilization tell of the era when
powerful beings known to the Hebrews as “Watchers” and in the book of Genesis as the
b’nai ha Elohim (“sons of God”) mingled themselves with humans, giving birth to part-
celestial, part-terrestrial hybrids known as “Nephilim.” The Bible says this happened when
men began to increase on earth and daughters were born to them.

Besides apocryphal, pseudepigraphic, and Jewish traditions related to the legend of the
Watchers and the “mighty men” born of their union with humans, mythologized accounts
tell the stories of “gods” using humans and animals to produce heroes or demigods (half-
gods). When the ancient Greek version of the Hebrew Old Testament (the LXX or
Septuagint) was made, the word “Nephilim”—referring to the part-human offspring of the
Watchers—was translated gegenes, a word implying “earth born.” This same terminology
was used to describe the Greek Titans and other legendary heroes of part-celestial and
part-terrestrial origin, such as Hercules (born of Zeus and the mortal Alcmena), Achilles
(the Trojan hero son of Thetis and Peleus), and Gilgamesh (the two-thirds god and one-
third human child of Lugalbanda and Ninsun).

These demigods were likewise accompanied in texts and idol representation by half-animal
and half-human creatures like centaurs (the part-human, part-horse offspring of Apollo’s
son, Centaurus), chimeras, furies, satyrs, gorgons, nymphs, Minotaurs, and other genetic
aberrations. All of this seems to indicate that the Watchers not only modified human dna
during the construction of Nephilim, but that of animals as well, a point the Book of Enoch
supports, saying in the seventh chapter that the fallen angels “sinned” against animals as
well as humans. Other books such as Jubilees add that this interspecies mingling eventually
resulted in mutations among normal humans and animals whose “flesh” (genetic makeup)
was “corrupted” by the activity, presumably through crossbreeding (see 5:1-5; 7:21-25).

Jasher records the familiar story of the fall of the Watchers, then adds an exceptional detail
that none of the other texts is as unequivocal about, something that can only be understood
in modern language to mean advanced biotechnology, genetic engineering, or “transgenic
modification” of species. After the Watchers had instructed humans “in the secrets of
heaven,” note what Jasher says occurred: “[Then] the sons of men [began teaching] the
mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord”
(4:18).

The phrase “the mixture of animals of one species with the other” does not mean Watchers
had taught men hybridization, as this would not have “provoked the Lord.” God made like
animals of different breeds capable of reproducing. For example, horses can propagate with
other mammals of the equidae classification (the taxonomic “horse family”), including
donkeys and zebras. It would not have “provoked the Lord” for this type of animal breeding
to have taken place, as God Himself made the animals able to do this.

If, on the other hand, the Watchers were crossing species boundaries by mixing
incompatible animals of one species with the other, such as pig dna with humans like science
is doing today, this would have been a different matter and may cast light on the numerous
ancient stories of mythical beings of variant-species manufacturing that fit perfectly within
the records of what the Watchers were accomplishing.

C. Gary Stearman and the Valley of the Giants

Rephaim [Nephilim]: Genetic Monsters, Mutants

A non-human race once lived upon earth. They came to be called the Rephaim [Nephilim].
They were genetic monsters, mutants whose end is darkness, just as was their society upon
earth. Will JCVI's [/. Craig Venter Institute, which created the entirely new life form
nicknamed “Synthia”] work result in another such atrocity? —Gary Stearman, Bible scholar

Is there a person in the civilized Western world who has not heard the story of Goliath, the
massive warrior slain by David? Even in our post-Christian era, the unbelieving among us
acknowledge the giant, but simply regard the famous narrative as a harmless myth.
However, the story bears the unmistakable stamp of authenticity and historical truth.

In the Old Testament, there are many references to the Rephaim. Ancient writings from the
Middle East, as well as the Bible itself, have long identified them as inhabitants of the
underworld. They are described as the departed spirits of the dead. Furthermore, though
they may be weak and dissipated in their present state, they appear to be conscious and in
possession of knowledge about their existing condition. They are also the recipients of
some of God’s most severe judgments.

Here, the “sons of God” are the b’nai elohim. Over the years, it has been greatly debated
whether or not these are human beings. Many have said they are the sons of Seth. But in the
final analysis, we find that the term b’nai elohim is used several times in the Old Testament.
In virtually all of its usages, the obvious reference is to God’s angelic creation. (See Job 1:6;
2:1; 38:7; Dan. 3:25; Psalms 89:6.) Most expositors have concluded that these are fallen
angels, the same as those whom Jude mentions as having left their first estate.

The ancient world of the Jews, Greeks and Romans abounded with tales about how the gods
came down and intermarried with mankind, producing demigods, heroes and half-man-
half-beast monstrosities. The ancients believed that a kernel of truth lay at the center of
these stories. Here, the Bible even says that this happened both prior to the Flood of Noah
and also at some later time “... after that ...” that is, after the great deluge.

But under the current mindset, theologians now object to the idea that disembodied spirit
beings (even if they exist) could intrude upon the physical world — and especially to mate
with human women. Yet, in the millennia prior to Sir Francis Bacon and the men of modern
science, with their methods of empirical science and inductive reasoning, that is precisely
what was taught and believed. The flaw in his method is that man makes assumptions
(hypotheses), based upon his own beliefs and prejudices.

From modern man’s point of view, perhaps the chief objection to human/angel interactions
is that they just don’t “make sense.” He has been conditioned to think in terms of
observation and proof. The scientific method cannot prove the existence of the spirit world.
And even if it did, there is still another question: How is it possible that a spirit being could
actually become “physical” enough to walk among men—and women?

But a moment’s reflection reveals that the Bible gives many examples of righteous angels
who did just that. In Genesis 18, Abraham receives three visitors, whom he welcomes into
his home for a meal. Apparently, they are just like ordinary men, even to the point of eating
and drinking. But the common explanation is that they are angels who have taken the form
of men. Their demeanour is “physical” in every way.

In Genesis 19, two angels visit Sodom to warn Lot that he must leave the city before it is
divinely destroyed in a rain of fire. Again, they seem like men, rather than the common
picture of winged angels in glowing white clothing. Even the perverted men of Sodom
related to them as ordinary humans. It is obvious that angels regularly circulate among
human beings. Their appearance is so utterly “human” that it is possible to meet a
supernatural being without even suspecting that you have had a transaction with an angel.
The simple conclusion is that angels can transition in and out of our world with ease. And
there is ample historical evidence to conclude that this includes evil, fallen angels, as well
as the righteous angels who never left their assigned sphere of righteousness.

The conclusion is both obvious and simple. In ways we don’t completely understand,
demonic forces can physically intervene in normal human affairs. They can introduce
genetic transformations in their subjects, resulting in a variety of alterations that suit their
needs at the moment. Monsters are the result. Human beings have traditionally viewed
these new creatures as gigantic or heroic in proportion. Both before and after the Flood,
they were the despots whose rule came from force and power. They were real then ... the
fallen ones called “giants” in the ancient world. And they are real now, or so say the
testimony of many thousands of witnesses.

This would seem to provide an answer to the nagging question about why the Bible refers
to Rephaim as both living and dead. Perhaps they are “shades,” or spirits, who are able to
affect the physical world from time to time. This may particularly be true in societies given
over to the worship of various evil spirits, including demons.

Their two states of existence in Scripture may help to explain the basic and troublesome
question mentioned above: How were the giants of Genesis 6 able to come back to trouble
the world after they were destroyed in the Flood? Might they have later influenced man
genetically in some way, causing him to become a mutant — a giant? One of the giants of
Gath was said to have six fingers and six toes on his hands and feet. This would certainly
indicate at least the possibility that there was some perversion of the human genotype.

Here, we become involved with the twisted world of the fallen angels and demons. In this
dark and alien arena, we must proceed with caution. Still, though the subject may seem
strange, there is ample information for a careful study. This should not be a theme
unfamiliar to Christians. After all, even Paul writes to Christians about the truth of our
spiritual battle:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:12.

While it is impossible to be precise about the enigmatic order of the occult power structure,
the three groups mentioned here are the rulers [Gk., archon], authorities [Gk., exousia] and
lords of this world [Gk., kosmokratoras]. These are the demons who infest the globe under
the direction of Satan. Historical observation of this miserable race always yields one
interesting and to some, perhaps unexpected trait. Namely, under great effort, when it suits
their cause, demons are apparently quite able to manifest themselves in the physical world
— in physical bodies.

Furthermore — given the proper spiritual environment and a little time — they are
apparently capable of making their presence permanent. That is, by altering the human
species, they produce beings who are more appropriate to their plans.

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the
days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark and knew not until the flood came,
and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:37-39.

Demonic activity will be unleashed in ways that have been long forgotten. It will produce
the horrors of the Great Tribulation. For a time, there will be a literal “hell on earth.” It is
likely that giants will become dominant and quite public once again. The goal of such
spiritual interference is to disrupt God’s desire to redeem mankind. But their plans were cut
off once, and they will be thwarted again.

When the Holy Spirit is finally “... taken out of the way ...” who knows what evils will hurl
themselves upon the world’s naive societies? It is not beyond reason that when spiritual
restraints are finally removed, the giant Rephaim will once again tread out their grim
oppression upon the earth. Today, they live in vaults of Hades and the shadows of the
forests. One day soon, their horror may appear in broad daylight.

The message is this: As these phenomena become increasingly prominent, it will be

another compelling reason to believe that we are living in the closing days of the Church
Age. As Hebrews 10:24, 25 say:
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and
so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” We definitely see it approaching!

Comment:
That Which I Cannot Agree

From my previous comments in Part I and II, it is evident that I do not agree with these
three scholars, writers, pastors, regarding the origin of the Nephilim. As stated earlier, |
believe the origin of the Nephilim was reached through instructions from Lucifer to
rebellious men to mingle the seeds of animals and men and a different kind of beings
appeared on the earth both before and after the flood as the race of Cain and Ham
continued the rebellion started in the heaven through Lucifer and the fallen angels and the
human race through Adam.

Lucifer could than claim having created his own fallen race and do his mighty wicked work
of spiritualism, war, disease and destruction through these amalgamated beings called the
Nephilim, Anakim or giants.

Every species of animal which God created was preserved in the ark. The confused species
which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the

flood. Since the flood, there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the
almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men. {1SP 78.3}

That Which I agree

LA Marzulli makes a compelling case for interdimensional visitation as opposed to

extraterrestrial visitation.

Marzulli’s arguments are just too compelling NOT to consider that these entities are
anything but inter-dimensional beings, the Fallen Angels, and they don’t necessarily
want to be our friends.

Gary Stearman agreed with Tom Horn, stating in disturbing language how the
manifestation of these powers are quickening now because the world is under
conditions “in which the influence of God’s Holy Spirit is diminishing.” [i] This is
apparent not only in metaphysics, but within science and technology, where genetic
engineering and trans-humanist aspirations seem literally hell-bent on repeating
what the Watchers did in giving birth to the spirits of Nephilim as in the days of
Noah.
Other books such as Jubilees add that this interspecies mingling eventually resulted
in mutations among normal humans and animals whose “flesh” (genetic makeup)
was “corrupted” by the activity, presumably through crossbreeding (see 5:1-5;
7:21-25). Jasher records the familiar story of the fall of the Watchers, then adds an
exceptional detail that none of the other texts is as unequivocal about, something
that can only be understood in modern language to mean advanced biotechnology,
genetic engineering, or “transgenic modification” of species. After the Watchers had
instructed humans “in the secrets of heaven,” note what Jasher says occurred:
“[Then] the sons of men [began teaching] the mixture of animals of one species with
the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord” (4:18).

The phrase “the mixture of animals of one species with the other” does not mean
Watchers had taught men hybridization, as this would not have “provoked the
Lord.” God made like animals of different breeds capable of reproducing. For
example, horses can propagate with other mammals of the equidae classification
(the taxonomic “horse family”), including donkeys and zebras. It would not have
“provoked the Lord” for this type of animal breeding to have taken place, as God
Himself made the animals able to do this.

If, on the other hand, the Watchers were crossing species boundaries by mixing
incompatible animals of one species with the other, such as pig DNA with humans like
science is doing today, this would have been a different matter and may cast light on
the numerous ancient stories of mythical beings of variant-species manufacturing
that fit perfectly within the records of what the Watchers were accomplishing.

Conclusion

While these 3 scholars adapt some aspects of theology I cannot concur with as express
earlier, the latter part of their proposal involving amalgamation through methods known
today allowing DNA alteration, cloning, mixing of human and animal genes, manifestation
of UFO as being accomplished by the fallen angels instead of extraterrestrial beings would
explain the demonic attack on this fallen world. Their conclusion regarding the
accomplishment of the prophecy in Matthew regarding Noah’s days coming to past in these
last days also concur with what I believe.

Cloning: Blessing or Abomination

Part IV was meant to be used to prove the validity of amalgamation, mixing of species,
alteration of the DNA thus confirming my research on the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy
in Part V of my research. Amalgamation, cloning, mixing of the species, bio-technology,
transhumanism, have been before and after the flood inspired by Lucifer in order to
destroy the seed of Messiah, so Christ could not have been born. But the Heavenly Father
preserved a pure seed through Noah, than the children of Israel.

Now He is preserving a seed through the 144000 which must obey faithfully all His
commandments, statutes and judgments. Statutes such as health including nutrition. Food
at this time is very unsafe, especially meat and by-products of meat, including cheese, eggs,
milk as animals have been altered beyond safety. Eating meat at this time of earth history is
suicide! Organic products are the safest and home-grown are the best. Yet, if it was not for
the protection of the Holy Spirit, none would survive. The true solution is to draw near to
the Creator and pray and ask for the protection of His angels which are in greater number
than the fallen ones.

Conclusion

The apostle Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 makes it clear:

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there comes a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
