I recently attended a wonderful rugby match. It was part
of the Rugby Union World Cup. The match was held in
the stadium at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in
Stratford in east London, which is just half an hour’s
bus journey from where I live.
My parents got tickets for my brother and me as we
both love rugby and we play it at school. The teams that
were playing were Romania and France. My brother
wanted Romania to win because he had a Romanian
girlfriend at the time, but I wanted France to win as I
really liked the captain, Morgan Parra.
We got to the stadium way too early, and we were two
of the first people to arrive, but gradually it got crowded.
Lots of people had come over from France and
Romania especially for the match and the atmosphere
before the kick-off was brilliant, with lots of people
waving French and Romanian flags and singing their
national anthems.
Romania started really well, but they got tired towards
the end and France won by 38 points to 11, so my
brother wasn’t very happy. I remember buying him a
burger to cheer him up.
