The data gathered from the respondents were categorized, coded, and
then analyzed with the aid of relevant computer software. Presented in
the following paragraphs are the specific statistical tools used in the analyses. To describe the profile of the respondents, as well as the quality of life in terms of the dimensions earlier discussed, the percentage distribution was used. The percentage distribution specifies the category and the percentage of the total number of cases associated with the category (Relative Frequency). To test the hypothesis of no significant difference in the respondents’ perceptions of their quality of life, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was utilized. This statistical technique is used for testing the hypothesis that the means among two or more subsets are equal under the assumption that the populations from where the samples were taken are normally distributed (http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/ handbook). For the purpose of determining the significant relationship between the academic achievement and the quality of life of the respondents, an initial indication of the relationship between variables was garnered from cross-tabulations through the cell entries and the measures of association. The independent variables were used as the row variables and row percentages were computed. The results were interpreted by comparing the row percentages down the columns. The nature of the association between the variables was calculated with the use of multiple regression analysis. This technique is used when there are three or more measurement variables. One of the measurement variables is the dependent (Y) variable. The rest of the variables are the independent (X) variables. The purpose of a multiple regression is to find an equation that best predicts the Y variable as a linear function of the X variables (http://udel.edu/~mcdonald/statmultreg.html).
